1v1 Matches / Re: Third Year 1v1 bracket- Round 1: Rufus Chocla vs. Jima Purpora
« Last post by Walter on January 15, 2019, 08:08:04 AM »
'Here it comes!' Rufus would have time to think before Jima's barrage of attacks came his way. He noticed her eyes being closed, but didn't assume that meant she would miss or not spot his own movements - she wasn't a rookie by any means. As such, he could only power through and hope for the best.

Rufus returned her charge, managing to side-step the first swing but taking the brunt of the second. Before the third could land - though it did - he threw a punch aimed at her gut. He was hoping to knock the air out of her and give himself some window of opportunity -  opportunity to do enough damage to put them back on even ground.

(Gut punch: 5%, hoping to stun)

”Gotta try harder than that.” Tieren snorted derisively, spinning counterclockwise to bring the edge of his blade slicing horizontally across the Creep’s body and sending the two decapitated parts flying across the arena. More growls surrounding him brought Tieren back to his senses, causing him to look up and take in the number of Creeps encircling the party, in addition to the uninvited tail that thought it was a good idea to join in.

Even though 11 of the things might have been a little too much for one person to handle, Tieren believed that the extra fire support from their team medic, as well as Kisha joining the fray would more than even the odds. ”Come on then, you pack of pansies! Scared of a single person?” He shouted, stomping the ground with his feet to entice a few of the Creeps to “come get some”.

Tieren’s Stats:
  ● Aura: [██████████] 100%
  ● Semblance: 0% active [0% DMG reduction]

Prism turns back to her notes, twiddling with her pen for a moment before it begins to write down Ms. Nahualli’s latest explanation. This technique only had a 85% success rate - it’ll kiss you by the first phase if you dared try it, and even then if it decides to be merciful, you’ll be permanently crippled for life. That’s not to mention that Prism might not even be possible of accomplishing it, given that creating and controlling large gusts of wind isn’t something that can be done with a person’s aura normally.

Prism’s pen stops for a moment as she bites her lip, a rare frown etching itself into her face. This wasn’t something worth learning if it weakened her, or weakened her semblance - she was perfectly aware that she couldn’t physically stand up to a good portion of the academy, and sometimes the only thing that kept her on her feet was an oversized aura and overpowering semblance, so-

When had that ever stopped?

Her mind made up about approaching Ms. Nahualli after class was over to evaluate her candidacy, Prism resumes her rapid chicken-scratch notetaking. Her hand flies into the air as per the norm at the end of the TA’s monologue, not waiting to get called on to ask her question. “Ms. Nahualli, if it’s so dangerous, why did you personally decide it was worth learning?” She asks, tilting her head to the side slightly.

Kin nodded at Kisha's words, grinning as he glanced at his own cards. Two Kings and a ten? He could work with this.

Although the pilot chuckled slightly Sam’s reaction mirrored much of Camelia’s in bewildered annoyance although the experienced huntsman managed to hide it reasonably well. ’There will likely be a little more to it than that Wabul but hopefully for all our sakes I hope the end result is the same. We need Falcon Haven secure if we are going to have a solid base here. But if there aren’t any questions I’ll leave you all to it, I have other debriefs that I have run so I wish you all the best of luck.’ Sam Copper remarked before terminating their call. The bullhead quickly flew away, a little higher than before with it’s lighter load making the ride look a lot smoother.

Illuminated by Ladybug’s headlights it was clear that despite these shafts hadn’t been in use for a while and the lights were playing up they were well made. Cut almost completely square with regular wooden supports showing little or no signs of rot or decay. Slowly going further and further up the shaft curved around itself until it would eventually reach Falcon Haven. It would make dragging Ladybug around difficult unless Revya rode it which would cause problems with noise and additional flammable materials.

The group started to find a fair few offshoots to different parts of the mining system. All of them carved out in the same high quality in craftsmanship and regular breaks to ensure the stability of the entire system. All of them except for one. Harshly carved out with a drill made this tunnel more circular than square and there was a complete absence of any wooden supports. More worryingly there was the sound of mining and heavy machinery coming from further down the tunnel.

If the impromptu group of hunters in training decides to check out this noise it wouldn’t take long before they could hear voices intermingled with all the sounds of industry. Luckily with all the excess noise going around, it would only require a moderate amount of stealth to sneak up on them and get within a reasonable distance of the group. There looked like there were two miners working heavy machinery and other four loading up mining carts The workers were all singing a song and working in time to the beat of the words. It was well timed which suggested this being a regular activity. If the group decided that they had to at least check in with Falcon Watch and begin their mission as soon as possible before diverting their attention there was an elevator a fair distance along the main mining shaft. It would bring the group to Falcon Watch quickly although from the look of it the noise could easily be heard over the mining machines.

”You know I’m always more than happy to listen to your ramblings, Prism!” Jocelyn laughed, still high off the adrenaline from watching the match - though if this was what she felt, Prism must have the equivalent of ten gallons of caffeine from winning her match. As they began the trek to the food court through the pristine white hallways filled with the bustle and chatter of the numerous other people, her excitement slowly began to fade to her more calm, usual self, and she began to observe her surroundings instead of just having 100% of her focus on Prism. Plenty of booths selling tasty snacks, the odd souvenir shop, smoking rooms, even a indoor heated pool. If they didn’t have a place to be, Jocelyn would gladly take a dip and relax.

”Oh, here we are.” Situated in one of the numerous large branches, even the vast food court couldn’t house the crowds of spectators eager to grab a bite before the next match, and the place was crowded. Lining the edges, stores offered nearly every single cuisine Remnant had to offer, with Atlesian food taking a small but well-populated corner of the hall. With so many people stuffed into one space, Jocelyn just couldn’t find her brother.

<I need healing> Where are you

<Overprotective> look up

She did just that and found that the crowd had cleared a small path, which - sure enough - led to a table where Setsuna sat, waving his arm and beckoning them over. "Hey sis, and good to see you again Prism! Congratulations on the wins so far!”

Ismael looks through his cards and keeps his stack and sets the other in the center as Nathan reminds him what he was doing as a shine of remembrance in his eyes appear as he continues.

Ismael listens to Kisha's proposition and Ismael realizes what could be asked and understands what anyone would asked and his eyes became that like ice as he is now determined to win.

No one must know.

Kisha shoved the two stacks over to Ismael and gave him an impatient look. "Well then, which one do you want to look in?" She asked, then took a look in her own cards. Damn, they were good! Seven of hearts, seven of diamonds and a Queen of Diamonds! "After Ismeal picked a stack, you can start Kin."

(Okay, since playing cards is a bit arduous in an RPG, I stole a card pack and laid it all out, it'll be chaotic, but that's how it is now, I'll edit this down here as soon as Chaos has chosen his stack. The current cards are:

Kisha: Seven of hearts, Seven of diamonds, Queen of Diamonds
Ismael: Ten of Spades, Seven of Spades, Nine of clubs
Kin: King of Hearts, King of Clubs, Ten of diamond

Middle: King of spades, eight of hearts, Nine of diamond

Chaos has the next post, but can't lay a card yet, just pick the stack. Then it's Kin's turn, then Kisha. So that we don't exclude Nate we now have a conversation. I guess. Idk. What am I even doing here? )

"So," Kisha began as she looked at her cards, "How about we make it a little more.... interesting? Whoever wins may ask the loser a question or a task, you know, like truth or dare, or something like this."

Serin was intrigued that the old man seemed to such an opposite from Smokey as he was much nicer and open to talking unlike the closed off team member of BSSM. Maybe they just haven’t found a topic for Smokey to open up about yet? On that note Serin looked around for the other reserved member of the team finding him eyeing up the displays in the front of the store with a intensity that he rarely saw on his fellow members face.  ”Looks like even Mikado is interested in the weapons” Serin chuckled  before turning back to the main conversation at hand.

”Well it’s not here per say, but in Atlas which is just a short ride from here. You must be really wrapped up in your work to not notice it.” Serin commented with some slight confusion coming across his face, he had always been aware of when the festival was at hand regardless of location and could not understand how someone would be unaware of its time and location. Much less when he had a son competing in it.

While Yu didn’t particularly like the smell of smoke, nor did he like smoking - it lowered average life expectancy too - Chantou was indulging his rather extravagant offer. So, he shook his head in consent, as well as to answer her first question. ”I’m afraid I’m not particularly keen on fighting in front of large crowds.” He said simply, but his words did not carry the full truth. Even though his two new acquaintances had so far been the most gracious of hosts, they were still newly acquainted. First impressions and appearances could be deceiving, and he was not dropping his guard.

Still, to continue the line of discussion, he turned to Diana. ”And what of yourself? From your previous actions one could be forgiven for assuming you are a medic, so if you were to enter any fights it would be team-oriented. Am I right in guessing so?” Yu said politely. Still fairly new to the whole ‘socialising’ aspect of life, he found a small satisfaction in deducing what little tidbits he could from everyday appearances, though not always accurate.
