It was a nice day outside as the arena was filled to the brim with an outstanding amount of spectators in the stands. Much like previous matches, a familiar voice brought the arena back to life as the spectators start to cheer again! ”Wow, it’s almost like an inexplicable amount of time had passed between this match and the previous one!” Hunter’s energetic voice brought forth even more cheering from the audience. ”Anyhow, lets get to the blood and guts!” Shuffling of papers echo out through the arena as Hunter tries to find which match is up. ”There we go! Alright, we’re seeing the return of Ayaka Miyamoto!” A small recap of the highlights of her match pops up on the screen. ”By the power vested in me as an announcer, I deem this contestant a weeb.. Or is that NEET? I don’t remember correctly.” Next paper. ”As for her opponent, we have Catalina Glenn who literally had an easy win given to them!” Due to the nature of the fight, there was no highlight to play. ”Alright losers, time to see if the RNG behind this fight deem whether or not it’ll end up like Glenn’s last match!”

A large holographic image of a lottery machine appears on all sides of the arena, with two spinners. The spinners spun so quickly, making it nearly impossible to make out the passing words. It ticked through the options slower and slower until it finally stopped on Urban and River.

The floor of the arena lowered and, in its place, arose one large platform. With a new round comes new possibilities for stages! A combination of the two environments, a sizeable river hamlet would rise up. Comprised of very structurally weak wooden homes to be used for cover, this stage would prove useful for those who use firearms or are adept at ambush attacks. A slim river would run through the hamlet slightly below ground level, so make sure not to trip and fall into it!

As the spinner finished its job and faded away, the doors on each side of the arena opened to signify the start of the match.

(A coin flip has decided that Catalina will get the first post. The arena size is identical to that of the 1v1 arena in the show, however, it features scaled down biomes to fit the size. Good luck, and may the best combatant win.)

As most know, the Vytal Festival is done within a tight schedule in order to get all the fights in, but also insure that all students would not be missing classes once they had returned to their academies. That’s why it’s rather strange that there was nothing coming from the announcer’s booth around the scheduled start for the next match. ”-now start the-?! Wait, has the mic been muted the whole time? Prim! Why didn’t you warn me!?” Hunter’s voice starts to drip with sadness as his super hyped up intro didn’t air.

Despite being caught off guard herself, Prim would not allow her massive ego to be scarred by such a disgrace. Defensively, she retorted ”Don’t look at me! It’s your stupid mic so you should take responsibility for its problems!” Crossing her arms, she would simply let Hunter redo the intro to possibly redeem himself.

Downtrodden, Hunter used a less hyped intro, ”Alright then. We have the duo Shiroe and Reggie, and if you ask me, they certainly look like they belong in Atlas. Alas, they’re Beacon students.” It seems that Hunter would’ve had more to add if his hyped up intro wasn’t wasted so early on.

Sighing in disbelief at the display of pitiful actions before her, Prim would take it upon herself to finish the introduction. ”Yes, well, I guess I’ll introduce the other pair then. On the other side, we have Calen and Setsuna, who’ve shown us that they mean business in their first round match. We’ll see firsthand if they’ll be able to take down The Gentleman and...The Guy!” Not wanting to entirely discredit Reginald, she would simply give him no praise; she did have some integrity, after all!

”Alright, I guess since we introduced these losers, we can start the envirospinner then.” Seemingly bounced back from his rather sad state, Hunter’s voice quickly filled with some energy as he moved to get the match started.

A large holographic image of a lottery machine appears on all sides of the arena, with two spinners. The spinners spun so quickly, making it nearly impossible to make out the passing words. It ticked through the options slower and slower until it finally stopped on Ice and Tundra (Congrats King & Monster, you get more ice).

The floor of the arena lowered and, in its place, arose two new floors. As this happened, a large clear dome also arose and encased the two biomes. On Shiroe & Reggie’s side, a sizeable iceberg with a notably flat top would appear in the middle of a freezing cold body of water. Connecting the doorway where the combatants enter to the iceberg would be a thin bridge made of thick ice. A similar bridge also connected the iceberg to the opposing biome. On Setsuna & Calen’s side, a sparse amount of short trees would rise along with a thick blanket of snow on the ground. On top of these two biomes, a somewhat intense wind would begin to blow, whipping up a blizzard to significantly reduce visibility (YES IT MEANS SPECTATORS CAN’T REALLY SEE, BUT THEY CAN EAT MY ASS AND BLAME GUS).

(A coin flip has decided that Shiroe will get the first post, followed by their partner. The arena size is identical to that of the team combat arena in the show, however, it features scaled down biomes to fit the size. Good luck, and may the best team win.)

1v1 Matches / First Year 1v1 bracket- Round 2: Juno Vert vs. Billy Bone
« on: August 29, 2018, 06:52:34 PM »
The Vytal Festival tournament, as many know, is an event notable for celebrating diversity, individuality, and self-expression. However, the modern iteration is also home to corporate greed and plentiful advertisements and sponsorships. After what would seem like an eternity, the final advertisement would finally come to a close. ”-And you too can be the epitome of power, elegance, or whatever else you desire...with Schnee dust. The Schnee Dust Company is not liable for any injuries or damages sustained while operating a Schnee Dust Company Product. Supplementary safety brochure is included with every product. As the final ad concluded, the familiar crackling of the speaker returned as it always did before a match.

”Good afternoon and welcome back to the second round of the forty-first bi-annual Vytal Festival tournament! As you know I’m Primrose Palatine. It would seem Hunter is missing in action, but I’m sure you can all pardon his absence. Anyways, excuse all of the ads, but they help pay for this wonderful event so please bear with us. Speaking of wonderful though, we have another exquisite matchup today! Our first combatant, Mr. Juno Vert was able to single handedly take down the ‘up-and-coming legend’ Coconut Cream. But will his hardlight be enough to take down his opponent, Billy Bone; the quickdraw sniper who won through...opponent concession. While an unmerited victory, we’ll see if they can prove their worth in this second round match!” Motioning to the spinner to begin, the program would be able to begin rather flawlessly due to the unexcused absence of a certain announcer.

A large holographic image of a lottery machine appears on all sides of the arena, with two spinners. The spinners spun so quickly, making it nearly impossible to make out the passing words. It ticked through the options slower and slower until it finally stopped on Ice and Swamp.

The floor of the arena lowered and, in its place, arose two new floors. On Juno’s side, a frozen lake would constitute the entire field. Almost completely frozen through, one wouldn’t need to worry about falling through, but only slipping and sliding around. Arising from this lake would be 5 cylindrical pillars of ice hollowed out in the center. Filled with ice cold water, these would spray anyone within proximity to them when shot, pierced, etc. What a shame that such beautiful ice creations had to be used for this. On Billy’s side, a shallow, muddy marsh would rise, featuring no platforms of note this time. A couple of downed trees can be found within the area, both large enough to crouch behind for cover. Be warned though, crouching in the marsh water is gross.

As the spinner finished its job and faded away, the doors on each side of the arena opened to signify the start of the match.

(A coin flip has decided that Billy will get the first post. The arena size is identical to that of the 1v1 arena in the show, however, it features scaled down biomes to fit the size. Good luck, and may the best combatant win.)

As the rising of the sun signals a new day, so did the familiar crackling of the sound system signal a new round of fights. Clearly excited by the return of the beloved announcers and not more action packed fights, the crowd would roar with cheers from every single section. As the cheering slightly faded, a familiar female voice would begin by excitedly saying ”Good morning, and welcome back to the Vytal Festival tournament! As you know, my name is Primrose Palatine and my partner here is Hunter d’Azur. We’re here again to deliver all the important match informati-” Cutting off Prim so that they can get right into the action, Hunter quickly gets the hype train going.

”Alright nerds, we’re gonna show you the two losers competing today. Both from Beacon Academy, we have Prism Skylark, the little birdy that’s competing their heart out! Their opponent is Smokey Emberstone, and despite their only shtick being a big gun - which is boring if you ask me - he’s certainly very effective at taking down his opponents. I think Aca left a dent on that poor rock!” Hunter’s voice droned on until it was filled with excitement once more as he remembered what he had to add to their introduction! ”Oh yeah, we have a very special guest supporting Prism from our very own announcer booth, we have team CASA’s very own Nut! Welcome aboard kid! Wished you could’ve went on to the next round!” Sounds of loud applause rises from the arena as Hunter waits for it quiet down.

Coconut peered into the booth momentarily before stepping in proper, looking over the pair already there. The boy only briefly looked towards the guy that reminded him of a panda before his gaze fell on the woman - a cutie to be sure.  A lopsided grin appeared on his face and remained there for a moment too long before he finally spoke up. "H-hey. I'm... I'm, uh, Nut. C-coconut." He'd also extend a sweaty hand for a handshake, and upon shaking Prim's hand would comment that she smells nice.

Having her cold heart warmed by Coco’s greeting, Prim would gladly take his hand in hers, also placing her other hand over the already interlocked ones. Moving away from the mic, she would whisper ”A pleasure to finally meet you, Coco. You have a pleasant scent to you as well.”. Despite feeling good about finally meeting The Nut, both of her hands were drenched in sweat from the seemingly nervous boy. As a way to get back at Hunter for cutting her off previously, she would swiftly wipe both hands off on his pant leg trying not to be too obvious about it. Motioning to start the environmental spinner, Prim would give Hunter a passive aggressive grin that just screamed ”Cut me off again and I’ll cut you in a duel”.

Hunter frowned as his pants were used to dry the sweat Prim had gathered from Coconut’s hands. Initially pouting from her actions, his pout quickly turned mischievous as Hunter quickly shook Coconut’s hand regardless of it being warranted. At first feeling uncomfortable from the rather excessive amount of sweat, Hunter quickly took Prim’s hand into his own. Now they both have sweaty hands that didn’t originate from either of the two. For Hunter, it was a win-win situation because he got to hold Prim’s hand AND bully her!

Sighing in disbelief at Hunter’s childish prank, Prim would simply let it be for the sake of the ‘show’ and allow the spinner to do its job.

A large holographic image of a lottery machine appears on all sides of the arena, with two spinners. The spinners spun so quickly, making it nearly impossible to make out the passing words. It ticked through the options slower and slower until it finally stopped on Urban and Lightning Dust Arena.

The floor of the arena lowered and, in its place, arose two new floors. On Prism’s side, what resembled a Mistrali marketplace would take form. Filled to the brim with various empty wooden stalls, the walkways would be tight with plentiful cover and places for ambushes. Strung between the stalls, many strings of lights would also present flying combatants with the issue of becoming tangled. On Smokey’s side, an open courtyard would reveal itself. Set up around the perimeter of the courtyard would be ten crossbows each loaded with one lightning dust bolt, all being pointed towards the center. In the center, there would noticeably be a small wooden pillar with a button on it. Pushing the button would rapidly unleash a hail of arrows reminiscent of lightning bolts on the center of the courtyard (10 bolts total, 4% per bolt, total of 40% aura damage if hit by all).

”What an interesting field.” Hunter’s disinterest can be heard in his voice until he redirected his attention back to Coconut. ”Anyhow Nut, since you’re the guest announcer, we can grant you quite a bit of power that you can exert over the competitors! In fact, they’ll probably listen because it’s the Vytal Festival and we’re usually harmless, so have at it kiddo.” Hunter is starting to feel more uncomfortable as he held Prim’s hand since the sweat started to gather.

"O-oh? Really? Uh. In that case..." There is a short pause as Coconut weighs his options. The entire world is watching. His parents are probably watching this, having been against him becoming a huntsman in the first place. What he would say next would influence the way the world saw him henceforth.

"C-could Prism... chirp?"

As Coconut put in his request, the doors on each side of the arena opened to signify the start of the match.

(A coin flip has decided that Prism will get the first post. The arena size is identical to that of the 1v1 arena in the show, however, it features scaled down biomes to fit the size. Good luck, and may the best combatant win.)

”Hello all, and welcome back to the forty-first bi-annual Vytal Festival tournament! Today we have the final match of the 3rd year 2v2 bracket, which we’ve been looking forward to more than any other match in the tournament!” The excitement in Prim’s voice was clear, although she definitely didn’t consider what Hunter’s favorite match may be when she said that. ”We’ve had a lot of Beacon matchups lately, and maybe a few others, but this bracket has shown us the absolute power, style, and efficiency of students from Atlas! First up, we have Avery LeBlanc. While I may not particularly like any of the LeBlanc kids, at least Avery isn’t annoying. In fact, he seems quite disciplined, much like his fighting style. He may not be an offensive fighter, but he can certainly take you ‘down’ in more ways than one!” As Prim continued, a roar of applause came from the crowd. For once, more Atlesian flags could be seen than Beacon ones. But that would surely even out after the Beacon students were introduced. ”Moving on, we have Taylor Stone, the other half of this duo! This exemplary young lady has a knack for getting information on the battlefield. With her drone and scouting crystals, she’s sure to have any information that her team needs! But that certainly doesn’t mean she’s lacking as a fighter! You’ll never seem to know what’s coming next in a duel with her!” As she finished her introductions, Prim gave an approving smile and tapped on Hunter’s shoulder to make sure he wasn’t sleeping through the highlight of her day.

Hunter was pouting. Prim took the one match he was excited for in this bracket! Being a man with a somewhat reasonable amount of dignity, he will not whine or complain about this. Sighing, Hunter looks to other side of the field where the Beacon students will begin. ”In my opinion, the other LeBlanc siblings are far superior, but whatever. Coming from Beacon, we got Vermilion Desdemona! He may look like royalty, but he’s due for a royal beatdown! Alongside him, we have Vivian Xanthia, the bunny that’s going to need new arms to replace those fancy ones!”

A large holographic image of a lottery machine appears on all sides of the arena, with two spinners. The spinners spun so quickly, making it nearly impossible to make out the passing words. It ticked through the options slower and slower until it finally stopped on Wind Dust Field and Desert.

On Avery and Taylor’s side, rough terrain takes up the field as wind dust crystals emerge from the ground itself, becoming more and more concentrated towards the center. As for Vivian and Vermilion, sand as far as the eye can see as various and vast dunes take up that side of the arena. In the center would be a sandstorm caused by wind dust crystals being set off. Any more crystals would would worsen the sandstorm.

(A coin flip has decided that Avery will get the first post, followed by their partner. The arena size is identical to that of the team arena in the show, however, it features scaled down biomes to fit the size. Good luck, and may the best combatant win.)

”Good afternoon all, and welcome back to the forty-first bi-annual Vytal Festival tournament! We’re back with more matches containing even more Beacon students!” A large portion of the crowd roared with cheering and clapping, clearly showing which kingdom had the best representation. ”Ahem, anyways, we have a lot of familiar faces in this 2v2 match between the first years. On our first team we have Billy Bone and Smokey Emberstone. You know, I wonder if teams decide their lineups randomly. Because this lineup of snipers is either bad RNG or bad decision making. Either way, on the other side we have a slightly more balanced team! Give a warm welcome to Setsuna Antiqua and Calen Shrike. As our only newcomer in this match, let’s see if Calen can entrance us with his stylish combat dance! Let’s move right on to the spinner, since my co-announcer had to take a very timely and lengthy bathroom break.”

A large holographic image of a lottery machine appears on all sides of the arena, with two spinners. The spinners spun so quickly, making it nearly impossible to make out the passing words. It ticked through the options slower and slower until it finally stopped on Ice and Mountain.

The floor of the arena lowered and, in its place, arose two new floors. On Billy & Smokey’s side, a sizeable frozen lake would appear. Despite being perfectly stable for running and walking, any damage from weapons or semblances could spell trouble for those standing on it! On Setsuna & Calen’s side, flat rocky formations rose from the ground ending in a perilous cliff near the top. It is also worth noting that if someone were knocked from the top of the cliff onto the frozen lake, that could also lead to an unfortunate situation.

As the spinner finished its job and faded away, the doors on each side of the arena opened to signify the start of the match.

(A coin flip has decided that Setsuna will get the first post, followed by their partner. The arena size is identical to that of the team combat arena in the show, however, it features scaled down biomes to fit the size. Good luck, and may the best team win.)

4v4 Matches / First Year 4v4 bracket- Finals: Team BSSM vs. Team CASA
« on: July 19, 2018, 10:43:08 AM »
”Good afternoon and welcome back to the forty-first bi-annual Vytal Festival tournament!” a refined and silvery female voice would say through the arena’s sound system, secretly hoping the round 2 scripts wouldn’t be as bland. ”Today we have an assuredly exhilarating matchup for you! It’s hard to believe, but we’ve already reached the final match of the 1st year 4v4 bracket! Now, my partner and I are going to run through the teams even though you all probably know and love them already!” As impossible as it was, the roar of the crowd became even louder than it had been for any previous match. Plenty of Beacon flags could be seen in the audience,  which was quite stupid considering both teams were from Beacon. As Prim continued, large holographic images of the members on Team CASA would circle the arena, with one notable blank image that looked like a placeholder. ”Alright then, I’ll start by introducing Team C(A)SA. First off we have Jocelyn Antiqua, who heals her teammates by shooting them! Keep a close eye on that ability, video game designers! Next up we have Coconut Cream, the pretty boy we all know and love! Let’s hope he paints us a beauteous picture with that semblance of his! And finally we have their leader…a Faunus, as you know. Prism Skylark uses the wind to their advantage by creating distance between her and her enemies.” The last introduction sounded notably dull, as if it were read directly from the script. ”Anyways! That’s definitely all of Team C(A)SA for you! Take it away with Team BSSM, Hunter!”

”Alright everyone, we’re gonna kick it off real fast here so we can right into the action!” The hype was palpable in Hunter’s voice. ”Starting it off with the most notable member of team BSSM, we have the finest sharpshooter that has the most accurate shot, Billy Boner! As for the literal sitting duck with his stupid gun, we got the immovable object Smokey Emberstone! Severin Avery, the man with a slightly bad sense of fashion is sure to trip up his opponents. Lastly, we have one Mikado Drak, the edgiest ninja of them all, he’s sure to gain the younger audiences love and support!” Motioning the spinner to start it off, Hunter furiously shuffles papers around in hopes that he can come up with SOME material during the fight.

A large holographic image of a lottery machine appears on all sides of the arena, with two spinners. The spinners spun so quickly, making it nearly impossible to make out the passing words. It ticked through the options slower and slower until it finally stopped on Wind Dust Field and Lightning Dust Field.

The floor of the arena lowered and, in its place, arose two new floors. On BSSM’s side, the area would be filled with rather smooth and rounded terrain as crystals of Wind Dust emerge from the ground. As for C(A)SA, the terrain would be more rough and rocky as crystals of Lightning dust emerge from the ground. In the center, most of the crystals of both types remain concentrated, making it really easy to set the other off and mix together.

(A coin flip has decided that CASA will get the first posts. The arena size is identical to that of the team arena in the show, however, it features scaled down biomes to fit the size. Good luck, and may the best team win.)

As the growing crowd cheered for the match to start, the unmistakable sound of the sound system clicking on interrupted them. ”Hello. Welcome back to the forty-first bi-annual Vytal Festival tournament.” The quality of the voice was terrible, and clearly just a letter that was put into a text-to-voice tool. ”Us announcers are taking an emergency lunch break, so we have left this message to play for the round we are missing. Today in the final matchup of the Huntsman bracket 1v1 we have Suhlares Star vs. Mehrleeta Yohru.” The message continued despite the tool’s terrible pronunciation of the names. ”Ah yes, Suhlares Star, the specialist who is clearly compensating for something with all that tech. I will never understand why specialists deck themselves out in tech. It is unnecessary and disrupts the flow of combat.” It was clear that Prim was the one who wrote this portion of the message. A distant voice can be heard from within the recording. ”Prim! Hurry up! I don’t wanna watch some fight between some edgy scarecrow and someone obscure specialist!” Lots of stomping can be heard from within the background.

A large holographic image of a lottery machine appears on all sides of the arena, with two spinners. The spinners spun so quickly, making it nearly impossible to make out the passing words. It ticked through the options slower and slower until it finally stopped on Ice Dust Field and Lava.

The floor of the arena lowered and, in its place, arose two new floors. On Solaris’ side, what initially appears to be a snowy field contains ice dust crystals under the thin layer of snow that can freeze you in place if you don’t watch where you step. On Merletta’s side, what seemed to be the complete opposite arose. Large pools of molten lava formed sat in large cracks in the earth. Near the center of the arena, the thin layer of snow would very quickly melt, revealing the locations of the ice dust crystals.

As the spinner finished its job and faded away, the doors on each side of the arena opened to signify the start of the match.

(A coin flip has decided that Solaris will get the first post. The arena size is identical to that of the 1v1 arena in the show, however, it features scaled down biomes to fit the size. Good luck, and may the best combatant win.)

”Good afternoon friends, competitors, and sponsors alike and welcome back to the forty-first bi-annual Vytal Festival tournament!” Hunter’s attempts at mocking Prim rings through the arena’s sound system, ”For this match up, we have Ceramite Gunmetal, which is the sickest yet stupidest name I’ve ever seen. On the other, we have Aurelia Caelius. I really don’t have anything significant to say about her because Gunmetal is is much more interesting to discuss.” Sounds of furious writing gets picked up the microphone. ”Prim, hear me out. I get my name changed to Hunter Redspear! It’s brilliant!”

”Well...it’s certainly better than ‘Hunter the Blue’. But anyways, allow me to give some actual insight into these two. Mr...Metalgun was it? He can fire magic bullets that are sure to hit their target, and when I say magic bullet no I don’t mean the popular brand of blenders! On the other side we have Ms. Aurelia Caelius who can store up energy from her opponent’s attacks to bolster her own offense and defense. Effective yet...boring. Now that you’re more familiar with these two, let’s get better acquainted with the spinner, shall we?” A large holographic image of a lottery machine appears on all sides of the arena, with two spinners. The spinners spun so quickly, making it nearly impossible to make out the passing words. It ticked through the options slower and slower until it finally stopped on Desert and Savanna.

The floor of the arena lowered and, in its place, arose two new floors. On Gunmetal’s side, a ‘vast’ desert emerged featuring large sand dunes and, of course, plenty of sand to slow down combatants. On Aurelia’s side, large patches of wildgrass filled the area. Numerous Acacia trees also littered the environment. Just having those would be boring though! On each combatant’s side of the arena, there are 3 dust bombs scattered on the ground. A combination of flame and earth dust, these will make a sizeable flaming crater! Use them to gain an explosive advantage over your opponent!

As the spinner finished its job and faded away, the doors on each side of the arena opened to signify the start of the match.

(A coin flip has decided that Aurelia will get the first post. The arena size is identical to that of the 1v1 arena in the show, however, it features scaled down biomes to fit the size. Good luck, and may the best combatant win.)

Despite the fact that this was the Vytal festival tournament, one of the most anticipated world events, there was a general feeling of unease in the air. While there was definitely still cheering, conversation, and laughter, there was noticeably less than the previous rounds. There was also a very apparent difference in crowd size, with some sections missing almost entire rows. Maybe it was due to the dark gray clouds overhead, or maybe it was because of who was participating in this round. As it came time for the round to begin the loudspeaker clicked on and the refined, silvery voice of Prim would return once again. Although this time, there was a slight hint of sadness in her voice as if she were reminiscing on something negative from her past. ”Good afternoon to everyone attending this 1v1 match of the Huntsman bracket. Before we properly get started, my employers are requiring me to say a few preliminary words. Many of you may not be aware, but the combatant named Janus Rogo has previously been tried in our courts for the unrightful murder of refugees. Although he may have been charged as not guilty, he has gone under our radar for years now. We find it somewhat concerning for him to emerge again in this way...so we’ll be placing our knights at all entrances and exits as a simple precaution. We aren’t planning anything, but only wish for the overall safety of combatants and spectators. Now that that’s out of the way, how about you introduce us to the combatants in this round, Hunter?”

It was uncomfortable to hear Hunter’s usually lively voice take on a serious tone. ”Janus Rogo. A criminal that suffered from a stroke of bad luck, who really should’ve stayed off the radar.” Hunter’s line sounded more personal than what most would expect. ”As for his opponent, we have Budonoki Sophos, a Beacon Professor-” Clatters of a chair falling over gets picked up by the arena’s sound system as Hunter’s tone went from serious to disbelieving. ”Excuse me. A professor is participating?” Hunter’s voice seem to become a bit more whiny. ”How come he gets to participate and I get stuck behind the desk? It’s fun and all with Prim here, but I want to fight too!”

Although she was somewhat concerned that Hunter was more focused on the professor than the criminal, Prim would have to give into Hunter’s shitty memes so he wouldn’t freak out and break something important. ”Well Hunter, I’m sure that if a criminal and a professor can get a match, I’m sure the two beloved announcers can as well. Speaking of matches, however, let’s see how the environment spinner feels about this match!” Sending the signal to start the spinner, Prim would also send another motion towards the camera.

A large holographic image of a lottery machine appears on all sides of the arena, with two spinners. The spinners spun so quickly, making it nearly impossible to make out the passing words. It ticked through the options slower and slower until it finally stopped on Mountain and Lava. As the spinner did its job, Atlesian Knights would move into place at each entrance/exit with 2 at each. A technician would also take his place in the announcer’s booth with Prim and Hunter.

The floor of the arena lowered and, in its place, arose two new floors. On Budonoki’s side, a large rocky crag rose from the ground with small cliffs to allow for easier climbing. Small trees line the crag and a thin layer of grass covers any ground that isn’t rocky. On Janus’ side a mostly intact floor of cracked cooled off lava, with lava pools littered around would appear. However, the truly unique feature of this map would be the large volcano that formed in the center of the arena. Spewing a constant stream of lava, even the craggy side of the arena won’t be safe with a plethora of burning trees and grass. So this arena will definitely prove hazardous for even the two seasoned Huntsmen in this match!

As the spinner finished its job and faded away, the doors on each side of the arena opened to signify the start of the match.

(A coin flip has decided that Janus will get the first post. The arena size is identical to that of the 1v1 arena in the show, however, it features scaled down biomes to fit the size. Good luck, and may the best combatant win.)

11

”Hey everyone, good to see you from the previous matches! We’re going to start everyone’s favorite part about the tournament, a fight showcase between experienced huntsman!” Hunter leans back as he starts to spin around on his chair. ”Now I don’t know about the rest of the combatants, but if I was in this showcase, I would do amazing. Anyhow, let me introduce the fine ladies that will kick off the huntsman bracket!” Hunter stops spinning as he goes to pick up his script, ”Both huntresses from Beacon Academy, we have Malina Nahualli and Siu Ceong! One seems to be an actual aircraft carrier, while the other just happens to have a mechanical tail! That’s cute I guess, unless that goes up her-” Before Hunter can suggest anything inappropriate, he gets interrupted by a swift mic cut.

”Hey Hunter, that’s very nice and all but this is a family friendly event! Now where were we? Oh yes! We have the boat lady who clearly watched too many Valish cartoons versus the mecha scorpion, both of which graduated from Beacon!”. Upon closer inspection of the script, Prim would continue by saying, ”Hmm...scorpio lady’s last name looks familiar. Oh, that’s right! We made fun of her sister with the hipster outfit! It would seem that fashion sense runs in the family then. Anyways, I won’t keep you all from this surely exciting first match of the Huntsman bracket!”

A large holographic image of a lottery machine appears on all sides of the arena, with two spinners. The spinners spun so quickly, making it nearly impossible to make out the passing words. It ticked through the options slower and slower until it finally stopped on Urban and Tundra.

The floor of the arena lowered and, in its place, arose two new floors. On Siu’s side, small dilapidated brick buildings rose from the ground with a cracked asphalt road running in between them. Providing very good cover, this side would prove useful for any with a hit & run style of combat. ”Ah yes, an average Valish street. How homely!” On Malina’s side, a semi-flat grassy plain covered in a light layer of snow would appear. But that’s not all! 10 defunct Atlesian knights would be scattered around the snowy plains. Set to self-destruct upon taking any damage, it would be in any combatant’s best interests to watch where you shoot, what you smack, and when you decide to use explosives! ”What a tough field! You can’t be a coward on this side, or your opponent will have an easy job!”

As the spinner finished its job and faded away, the doors on each side of the arena opened to signify the start of the match.

(A coin flip has decided that Siu will get the first post. The arena size is identical to that of the 1v1 arena in the show, however, it features scaled down biomes to fit the size. Good luck, and may the best combatant win.)

”Welcome back everybody! This is the final match for the fourth year bracket, and right now. We have, ugh, Infrared Ray, a faunus,” Detest dripping from Hunter’s voice can be heard, making some non-Atlas audience members uncomfortable, ”participating in this fine tournament, and as I highly suggested before, should really leave Atlas Academy in search of better pursuits.” Hunter’s voice then became more pleasant as he introduced the other combatant. ”On the other hand, we have… God, I’m gonna butcher this... Kei Tsz Fung as our beacon participant.” Hunter’s chair creaked as he leaned back. ”Normally, this is where I would tell Prim to handle the rest of the introduction, but right now she’s not here!” Hunter gives off a nervous laugh. ”She said she’ll get us lunch, so hopefully she’ll be back soon.” The strength in his voice weakens near the end.

”Regardless of my crippling insecurity, time to spin the wheel!” A large holographic image of a lottery machine appears on all sides of the arena, with two spinners. The spinners spun so quickly, making it nearly impossible to make out the passing words. It ticked through the options slower and slower until it finally stopped on Wind Dust Field and Mountain.

The floor of the arena lowered and, in its place, arose two new floors. On Kei’s side, the area would be filled with rather smooth and rounded terrain as crystals of Wind Dust emerge from the ground. As for Infrared, small formation of stone starts to grow and grow towards the center of the arena. ”Now this is an interesting combination!” In the center would be a big mountain that is littered with wind dust crystals that can be used to traverse the mountain or even use it to launch opponents off the mountain. Other than the wind dust crystals, the mountain would feature stand offs that can be reached via careful parkour or wind dust crystals launching the combatants.

(A coin flip has decided that Kei will get the first post. The arena size is identical to that of the 1v1 arena in the show, however, it features scaled down biomes to fit the size. The wind dust crystals when used to traverse the arena will provide minimal damage of 2%, while used as a combat method would vary depending on height, impact, etc. Good luck, and may the best combatant win.)

”Hey, now that I think about it, this script actually kind of sucks. It’s super lengthy and boring, which is literally the opposite of what we want for a tournament” Sounds of crumpling paper rings out for quite a bit of time until Hunter realizes that he should probably be doing his job. ”Anyway, we got this Beacon kid called Justice Montenegro. If you ask me, he’s CLEARLY in the wrong occupation with a semblance that is going to have zero application. Be an entrepreneur! You’ll go far kid!” Hunter’s cheerful voice sours as he goes to address the other combatant. ”From our wonderful prestigious academy, we have Saffron de Cortez. Once again, I sincerely offer a transfer from our academy to another that is far more deserving of you.” It was a little strange, but Hunter’s almost rude tone sounded a little wistful at the end.

”Despite being one of them, Miss Saffron does have a lot of...potential. She has the right attitude, and the combat skills to back it up. Either way, we’ll have to see the results of this bracket before we further the issue. It doesn’t really seem like she should have much trouble this round, but you never know with these kinds of tournaments, I suppose. But anyways, we’ve kept you for long enough!” A large holographic image of a lottery machine appears on all sides of the arena, with two spinners. The spinners spun so quickly, making it nearly impossible to make out the passing words. It ticked through the options slower and slower until it finally stopped on Ice Dust Field and Wind Dust Field.

The floor of the arena lowered and, in its place, arose two new floors. On Justice’s side, an extremely flat snowy field would appear. On Saffron’s side, rocky plains would appear. Normally, these two areas would contain their own respective dust types. However, due to the combination of environments, both areas will contain hybrid “blizzard” crystals. These can both freeze you and send you flying quite a distance! They’ll be located under the thin layer of snow on Justice’s side, and hidden under the rocks on Saffron’s side.

As the spinner finished its job and faded away, the doors on each side of the arena opened to signify the start of the match.

(A coin flip has decided that Saffron will get the first post. The arena size is identical to that of the 1v1 arena in the show, however, it features scaled down biomes to fit the size. Good luck, and may the best combatant win.)

”So…. I’m gonna keep this real simple and quick. To start with, both opponents are unsurprisingly from Beacon Academy.” A yawn rings through the sound system. ”We got this chick called Jima, and I’m 90% sure she has some sort of Grimm fetish. I’m not sure how far that goes, but I really don’t want to know. On the other side, we got Rufus Chocla. If you ask me, more like Doofus Chocla am I right?” It was a low hanging fruit, but even intellectual geniuses would do the same thing. ”Now if you ask me, I’m sure Doofus has some sick tunes in store for us during the fight. I wish you good luck!”

Quickly taking over from Hunter, Prim would clear her throat before saying ”Yes, it would seem that this match is definitely one between...misfits. You don’t even have to mention the race of that boy to know he’s a goon, and I know for a fact that nobody enjoys that...rap stuff, especially my dear Hunter. And then the girl! She looks as if she’d be hanging out in a back alley somewhere, just ready to go berserk on some poor fool! But speaking of going berserk, let’s see how berserk the spinner will go on these two!”
A large holographic image of a lottery machine appears on all sides of the arena, with two spinners. The spinners spun so quickly, making it nearly impossible to make out the passing words. It ticked through the options slower and slower until it finally stopped on Lava and Trenches.

The floor of the arena lowered and, in its place, arose two new floors. On Jima’s side, a large volcanic mountain would take up most of the space. Surrounded by cracked earth, this volcano would spew a constant stream of lava that would eventually leak onto the opposite side of the arena. On Rufus’ side, grassy plains would emerge as a stark contrast to the opposite side. Trenches that zigzagged throughout the area would be lined with heavy sandbags. Those sandbags wouldn’t help against the lava that would inevitably overtake the trenches, however! Be careful how long you stay down there!

As the spinner finished its job and faded away, the doors on each side of the arena opened to signify the start of the match.

(A coin flip has decided that Rufus will get the first post. The arena size is identical to that of the 1v1 arena in the show, however, it features scaled down biomes to fit the size. Good luck, and may the best combatant win.)

”Welcome back to the forty-first bi-annual Vytal Festival Tournament! Right now, we have a VERY special match for you.” Excitement can be heard from Hunter’s voice. ”We have one of the leBlanc siblings from Atlas Academy! I love those kids!” Hunter gives off a “huh?” as the staff on hand tried to get Hunter to specify which sibling. ”Oh, it says here that it’s Aurum, but I wouldn’t put it past Avery or Sovereign to impersonate the guy. They were a fun trio, I’ll admit. Shame to see Sovereign drop out.” More communication between staff and the announcer.”How can I tell which sibling it is? I usually can’t.” Brief pause as Hunter realizes he should probably be less biased. ”Oh, and we have this guy from Beacon Academy with Treehouse for a last name. Prim?”

”Well Hunter, there’s an easy way to tell the difference between them. Take a look at their stupid smug grins, and you can tell that they vary in smugness. This picture here makes me think they’re going to try and steal my pants, so it’s probably Aurum. That’s d-definitely just an example though. Anyways, we really don’t have much about this Treehouse fellow. However, he did list 2 pages of rules on his information sheet when he signed up. I didn’t exactly read it all, but you could probably make a religion out of all this text.” Angrily recalling more stupid pranks, Prim would motion to start the spinner in hopes that Aurum would get the shit-covered field that totally exists.

A large holographic image of a lottery machine appears on all sides of the arena, with two spinners. The spinners spun so quickly, making it nearly impossible to make out the passing words. It ticked through the options slower and slower until it finally stopped on Geyser and Desert.

The floor of the arena lowered and, in its place, arose two new floors. On Mogan’s side, rocky plains would arise. With innumerable rocks to count, the true dangers of the field would lie underneath them. Geysers that shoot steaming hot jets of water can catch any unsuspecting fool that’s standing over one. On Aurum’s side,  a ‘vast’ desert emerged featuring large sand dunes and, of course, plenty of sand to slow down combatants. However, thick pools of quicksand could also be seen due to the unmistakable different coloration of the sand. In case it needs to be said, don’t fall in one of those!

As the spinner finished its job and faded away, the doors on each side of the arena opened to signify the start of the match.

(A coin flip has decided that Mogan will get the first post. The arena size is identical to that of the 1v1 arena in the show, however, it features scaled down biomes to fit the size. Good luck, and may the best combatant win.)
