New Horizons: Lexicon Update
« on: March 03, 2017, 01:13:58 AM »
So, we're getting the ball rolling with the updates to the site. We've moved into Discord(Link to Guide),  and are now beginning work on the Lexicon, Encyclopedia, and World History. The Lexicon is the easiest and most useful of these three, and as such, we begin there. The current/outdated Lexicon can be found here. I hear that originally when this was made a while back, we did a thread and petitioned everyone to contribute. Good news, everyone! We're doing that again! There's a bit of a difference, though. I want ALL the terms. Everything you can think of that is not a proper noun. This includes all canon material, and material established on the AU.

Here is what I am looking for. Please post in this thread any terms you come up with. Don't worry about repeating something that someone else says. Don't worry about repeating what's already in the current Lexicon, since some of that is outdated.

Additionally, post the source of the information/term. For example, If you post the word Vytal, please mention that it is from the canon. Some of the words may be less obvious and that will assist in researching the term. If it is from our site, such as Semblance Catalyst Foci, you may simply list "AU" or "RWBYFanon" or something. Finally, if it is from a Worldbuild, please clarify which one. (Providing links for sources is also helpful.)As long as it is clear where it is from.

I am looking for as many people to help on this project as possible. If you are not sure if a term should be in the Lexicon, post it anyway because the Lexicon is only the first part

(EDIT: To keep from clogging the thread up I'll keep posting here)

Atlesian Knight-200 (CANON): The Atlesian Knight-200, otherwise known as the "AK-200", are a line of android foot soldiers and the successors to the Atlesian Knight-130. These androids possess a more slender, humanoid appearance than their predecessors. They are clad in white armor, with their black robotic workings visible underneath. Their armor is thin at the midsection, neck and joints, but their chest and legs appear well-protected. They are often seen with their rifles slung diagonally across their backs.

Atlesian Paladin-290 (CANON): The Atlesian Paladin-290 is a massive mechanized battlesuit developed by the Kingdom of Atlas' greatest minds in cooperation with the Schnee Dust Company. The Atlesian Paladin is enormous, able to take up an entire lane on a highway, its armaments not withstanding. Inside there is a cockpit that houses and secures one pilot, with several holographic displays available to monitor the status of the Paladin and survey the surrounding environment.
The Paladin is armed with at least two energy guns on its side, rocket launchers mounted onto its back, and double-barreled guns on the sides of the aforementioned energy guns.

Combination Dust (AU): A mixture of Fire, Ice, Electric, and Kinetic Dust. Extremely voliatile in powdered form, and cannot be expelled like normal dust, for danger of instantaneous combustion. Mostly used in explosives, but rarely used in other weapons such as swords.

Bullhead (CANON): The Bullhead is a VTOL (Vertical Take-Off and Landing) tiltjet aircraft, meaning that it is an aircraft that can hover, take off, and land vertically. Like all vehicles in Remnant, the Bullhead presumably relies heavily on the power of Dust. It is mainly used to transport either people or crates of things. As it is considerably smaller than an airship, it enjoys improved manoeuvrability at the cost of lower carrying capacity.

Forever Fall Forest (CANON): Forever Fall is a forest in Remnant that is just north of Vale. This mountainous area has many cliffs and is covered by a forest of red-leafed trees, allowing the whole area to appear as a dust-red color, even in the grass. Cutting through a low point in the forest is a wide railway track, upon which a large cargo train travels.

Forever Fall Ruins (AU): Deep in the heart of Forever Fall, where the trees are so tightly packed together that the leaves tint the light red, lie the ruins of ancient civilisations. These ruins come in all shapes and sizes, some a mere slab of stone, or a carving in the ground. Others are towering structures that dwarf the trees that surround them and mask their secrets. (Credits to Marticus who created this place)

Signal Academy (CANON): Signal Academy is a primary combat school located on the island of Patch, just off the coast of Vale. At Signal, all students are required to craft their own weapons. After graduating Signal, budding Huntsmen/Huntresses normally join Beacon Academy, or one of it's counterparts, though the latter is rarer.

Emerald Forest (CANON): The Emerald Forest serves as the location in which the initiation of new Beacon Academy students takes place. It extends away from Beacon Cliff on top of which the academy is situated. Grimm inhabit the forest, including Beowolves, Ursa, Death Stalkers, Nevermores, and King Taijitus. There is an abandoned temple at the northern end of the forest from which the students have to retrieve relics and bring them back to the cliffs.

Teams (CANON): Teams are groups comprised of four individuals that are formed to fight alongside one another. In Beacon Academy and other schools, students are put into teams to learn together and practice with other teams while training to become Huntsmen. They are formed with the intention of forming lasting bonds and fostering empathy between team members. After graduating from an academy, a team may stay together or disband for its members to pursue solo careers.
The first letter of the each team member's name is used to form an acronym that stands for the name of the team. In some cases, the first letter of a member's surname may be used. The team leader's initial is the first letter of the team name, but in the RWBYFanon this is not always the case. Every team name follows the color naming rule of Remnant. This means a team name has to be a color, mean a color, sound like a color or make people think of a certain color. Again, in the RWBYFanon this is not always the case, though it is highly encouraged.

Mountain Glenn (CANON): Mountain Glenn was an expansion of Vale to the southeast that is overrun and destroyed by the creatures of Grimm. It is a defunct city dwelling comprised of destroyed and dilapidated buildings. Sand and Grimm have begun to retake the landscape. The area also boasted an extensive subway system, taking advantage of the preexisting underground caverns; these caverns also contain a makeshift village as derelict as the city above it.

The most glaring ones missing from the current Lexicon are the obvious ones. I get everyone might know them so I won't be upset if they get discarded but you did say all terms.

Aura(CANON): Manifestation of ones soul which, with sufficient training, can be used to shield ones self from harm, boost strength, create shock waves, heal ones self and sense danger. Present in both humans and faunus someones aura level can be constantly monitored
to ensure relative safety for tournaments or sparing.

Dust(CANON): The major energy source of people of Remnant, it powers their ships, their utilities and their weapons. Historically the discovery of dust was seen as the turning point in the war against the Grimm and allowed for the construction of the modern Kingdoms. Dust is sold in two forms, crystal and powder, the latter is more explosive. Dust also comes in a wide array of types including; Air, Fire, Water, Lightning, Ice, Steam, Gravity, Earth.

Faunus(CANON): The second sentient species in Remnant, mostly resembling humans Faunus sport one or sometimes more animal traits. These can vary from ears, horns or tails and Faunus also usually have a personality trait in common with that animal. Faunus as a whole generally suffer discrimination due to their small numbers and natural fear of the 'Other.'

Semblance(CANON): Manifestation of an individuals innate and personal power resulting in an ability which is unique to each individual. Being personal these powers represent a part of the wielder and although the are connected to Aura, as in you unlock your aura before your semblance, it can be used even when your aura is depleted.

Tradition of Color Names (Canon): After the Greyed War, a tradition arose to name children after colors. During the war, one side took to destroying art, culture and individuality in it's campaign. This was met with rage by people in every nation, and in defiance parents began naming children after colors, a fundamental building block of art. The names represented the feeling that individuality and culture could never be repressed and taken from humanity. In the modern era, almost everyone's name references color in some way.

Cross Continental Transit System (Canon): Atlesian technology that takes the form of 4 large towers, one located in each of the kingdom's capitals. These towers serve as communication points across continents. They require all of the towers to be functional for any of them to work. Scrolls are reliant on the CCTS for most features. Without the towers, scrolls network functionality is reduced to local area radios.

Scroll (Canon): A handheld device that serves as a phone, tablet, and computer all in one. The device is not only wide spread for civilians but also a Huntsman best friend, displaying information available through the CCTS towers as well as monitoring the Huntsman's aura. Scrolls are used for textbooks, note keeping, voice and video calls, as well radio transmissions. Visually they have two handles that rest next to each other, when pulled apart the see through screen is revealed.

Settlement (Canon): A town located in the technical borders of a kingdom, but beyond the cities protective area. Without the larger population of a city center, Settlements pop up and disappear frequently due to the constant threat of Grimm attacks out in the wilds.

Grimm (Canon): The creatures of Grimm are the true enemy to humanity as a whole, monsters made of black ichor with white, terrifying masks. Powerful and in a variety of forms, the creatures of Grimm have plagued humanity since the beginning of time. One could say they are the major population of the earth as they vastly outnumber humans and faunus combined. They have no soul and therefore no aura, yet are tough enough to weather advanced combat. They are equipped with claws, talons, fangs and an unquenchable thirst for blood. Elder Grimm, that have survived hundreds of years, learn from their experiences and use that knowledge to continue surviving.

Vacuan Archaeology Collective (RwbyFanon): The VAC is the Vacuan government sponsored archaeological studies department. Given Vacuo's immense history and the number of artifacts and civilizations lost in it's sands, VAC has it's work cut out for it. Does a lot of work with Shade's archaeology department, given the department not only produces excellent researchers but ones with combat training as well. VAC strictly controls the flow of artifacts in Vacuo. It's easier to get your hands on a automatic machine gun than an artifact with all the work VAC puts into control of the trade.
Source, the above mentioned in passing and may as well be defined: http://rwby-rpg.rwbyfanon.com/index.php/topic,883.0.html

Shade Archaeology (RwbyFanon): Shade is a combat academy first and foremost, but those operating in the desert against Grimm have a tendency towards finding artifacts. This parallel has lead to, over the long history of Shade, the Archaeology department being on par with some of the best schools in the kingdom. Those who finish Shade and complete the archaeology program are often sucked into the artifact recovery trade in Vacuo, for both their combat ability to protect civilians in the wastes and their academic expertise in the field of archaeology. Around 30 years ago the department head began sharing it's archaeology knowledge, staff, and lectures with civilians to ensure those in the waste have every tool and fact at their disposal. Dr Richard Pelle, the successor of the department head instantiating this policy, continues to support the concept.
Source, the above mentioned in passing and may as well be defined. Maybe not for the lexicon, but for a future Shade Academy section somewhere? http://rwby-rpg.rwbyfanon.com/index.php/topic,883.0.html

Cavalcade Bandits (Fanon): These are defined in the lexicon but are a target of an in progress worldbuild. Once worldbuild resumes operations and that's wrapped, Cavalcade's entry will need an update.

Shifting Weaponry (Canon): Huntsman are known to use weapons that transform into multiple weapons. These weapons are personal to each Huntsman, defining their fighting style, expressing their personality, and complementing their semblance. Students of combat academies are encouraged if not required to design a weapon during their time at the school. The owner is often the only one who knows how to fully operate and maintain the weapon.

Huntsman License (Canon): A student graduated from an advanced combat academy receives their certifications as a full fledged Huntsman or Huntress. This license serves multiple purposes, allowing a Huntsman to take missions from mission boards, identify one's position, allowing the Huntsman to travel internationally freely, and authorize them to information sources only available to graduated Huntsman. A license is an globally respected mark of authority. No kingdom has authority over a Huntsman with a license.

Huntsman (Canon): Huntsman are independent of any nationality. Upon beginning their studies students are no longer tied to their nation of origin, instead serving the entire world in their duties. Their license, received upon graduation, makes this state permanent. (Atlas Academy has gained some infamy for instilling a straight route to the military in to the academy, voiding the tradition role of a Huntsman as aligned not with a kingdom, but with humanity.)
This should be appended to the Huntsman definition in a prior post; it's not complete as it is.

Vytal Festival (Canon): A tournament held every other year to celebrate the end of the Greyed War. The Festival is held on the floating island of Vytal and moved from Kingdom to kingdom. The tournament is accompanied by a large scale festival for citizens and participants alike. The borders of the hosting kingdom are opened to all countries for the duration of the tournament in a continued show of the unity the event represents. The tournament itself is held for the students of the four advanced huntsman academies, competing on a world wide stage.

Lien (Canon): The currency of Remnant. Lien notes are credit card like, plastic with a magnetic strip on the reverse side. Despite appearances, the value of a note is singular, each note having a constant monetary value.

Atlesian Airship (Canon): One of the largest airships in production in the world, the Atlesian Airship is a engineering marvel. It is currently only in use by the Atlesian military. It has an arrow like design and is powered by a multitude of dust engines. Unique to it's military nature it is armed with forward mounted laser batteries, unlike most airships. The airship is meant to play a support role to ground groups via concentrated laser fire and as the command control center for all Altesian tech. Robotic units and are controlled from the airship they are deployed from.

Air Bus (Canon): A standard civilian use airship. It is unarmed and not equipped for large cargo transport. Each airship can however hold a dozens of passengers and provide them with safe air transport. Four fins rest on the side of the triple decked hull and it's tail is dominated by a large fan that serves as a rudder through air. Variants of this design exist, including emergency response and larger scale versions.

Bullhead (Canon): Bullheads can be equipped with a machine gun mount when the need arises. This is legal for civilian bullheads and is generally uncommon.
Append this to the above Bullhead entry.

This is the current list of things that will be in the dictionary. Note that Worldbuild things(with some exceptions) are temporarily excluded from the list. Please keep suggesting things to add to the list! Make sure you post new things in a new post, instead of editing your previous posts, or I may not see them.

Edit: I will be using this post as a rough draft. Typos/strange information should be generally ignored for the moment.

Dictionary

A.C. (AU) - See Age of Color.

Age of Color(AU) - Pending Timeline changes

Air Bus - Standard issue airborne transport. Its design varies by Kingdom, but general use is a commercial and civilian transport capable carrying up to 20 passengers in relative comfort.

Airship - Standard classification for large-scale air vehicles. These range from the enormous transport ships utilized by Atlas to the smaller ones that brought Ruby, Yang, and others to Beacon on their first day.

Amity Coliseum - The four kingdoms worked together to construct an enormous floating arena to serve as host for the Vytal Festival Tournament. Amity Coliseum is capable of moving from one kingdom to the next, arriving at each destination when it is time for that kingdom to host the Vytal Festival. The arena features transforming terrain with a multitude of biomes to varied battle stages and can hold many thousands of spectators.

Anima - The eastern continent of Remnant. Mistral is located here. The terrain varies widely from swamplands to wind-carved cliffs.

Atlas(kingdom) - Atlas is one of the four kingdoms and is governed by a ruling council. However, the military has significant control over the council, and as such, they make many decisions. It is located on the northernmost continent of Solitas. Within its territory is Atlas Academy and City and Mantle. Of note, the Schnee Dust Company operates out of Atlas, and Dust mining operations are commonplace within the borders of Atlas.

Atlas(city) - The city of Atlas came into being by being developed around Atlas Academy, until it was finally large enough to be considered a city. It grew so rapidly and so large that it became the capital city of the kingdom, and caused the kingdom to be renamed from Mantle to Atlas.

Atlas Academy - The center of Atlas city and Kingdom. This academy trains huntsmen(taking the place of both Combat and Huntsmen Academies), in addition to training military troops. The surrounding areas also feature large R&D facilities that work in tandem with the Academy to develop new technologies and research in the unending battle against Grimm. It is also home to Atlas’s CCT Tower.

Atlas Specialist - Hunters and huntresses who have joined the Atlesian Military after graduation from Atlas. They receive special military training in addition to their hunter training and are commonly sent out on missions of great importance.

Atlesian - Of or from the Kingdom of Atlas.

Atlesian Technology - Most highly advanced dust tech falls under the category of Atlesian tech in some regard. From guns to shielding to power supplies, Atlas produced an inordinate amount of dust applications, and while other tech producers exist elsewhere in the world, many have the roots of their technology in Atlas.

Atlesian Airship - These are large, heavily armored and very slow airships capable of launching fighters and defending themselves with a huge battery of weapons. They are also capable of bombardment and scorched earth tactics, and can transport hundreds of troops with ground vehicles to accompany them.

Atlesian Knight-200 - Robotic soldiers built by the Atlas military to replace live soldiers in combat and therefore save lives. Humanoid in appearance and armed with rifles and blades, their systems are linked to the Atlesian battle net and can be controlled remotely. They are capable of understanding spoken orders as well and serve as the primary infantry of Atlas's military.

Atlesian Paladin-290 - Large-scale military mech warriors. Humanoid in shape and taller than a single story building. Heavily armored and heavily armed, Paladins feature a wide range of weaponry including pulse lasers and shotguns on each arm, missile batteries on the shoulders, and laser turrets with advanced targeting. It is agile enough to unleash melee attacks with its fists while maintaining relatively high speeds.

Aura - Commonly referred to as the manifestation of the soul, Aura is a life force that flowers through all living creatures. It can be utilized, often with training, to produce protective effects such as a barrier to protect the body, and enhanced regeneration of wounds. Further training can allow users to manipulate the energy, gaining enhanced strength or even emitting blasts of pure force.

Beacon Academy - Vale's Huntsmen Academy. The Academy is built around Vale’s CCT Tower and acts as protection for it. The school’s primary function is to train huntsmen, typically starting around age 17 or 18, for four years. Students are assigned to teams of four members and stay with them throughout their time at Beacon. Upon graduating, all students are granted a Huntsman License.

Bullhead - A VTOL (Vertical Take-Off and Landing) aircraft, designed to transport troops(or students). It is also capable of transporting cargo or even ground vehicles underneath it using its powerful vertical lift capabilities. The Bullhead also has open sides, allowing troops to attack enemies from the vehicle, or allowing mounted weaponry to be equipped.

Caster(AU) - Someone trained in using Dust in its raw form, without the aid of weaponry or technology. They can also augment their, or their allies, Semblance directly, without using a Semblance Catalyst Focus. Weiss and Glynda Goodwitch are two examples of this.

CCT - See Cross Continental Transmit System.

CCTS - See Cross Continental Transmit System

Combat Academy - Signal Academy and equivalent schools. Typically designed as a general education school that has additional classes to instruct on combat training, weaponry design and Grimm. These classes prepare students for the entrance exams to Huntsmen Academies.

Cross Continental Transmit System - Technology developed by Atlas allowing for instantaneous communication between the four Kingdoms. There are four main towers, one at each kingdom's Huntsmen Academy. These four towers serve as the foundation for the system and are required for inter-kingdom communication. Smaller towers exist in less populated areas to extend the functionality of the system but often come under attack from Grimm and are therefore hard to maintain. Unlike the show, CCT Towers are capable of functioning without all four being online at once. Smaller towers still require their nearby main tower to be functioning.

Dragon Isles(AU name, Canon locale) - The name of the northwestern continent, named after its appearance of a dragon. The terrain is rocky and generally devoid of life, making it difficult to live there. As such, it is currently uninhabited.

Dust - Dust is a material found within the world of Remnant. It is typically mined from the earth in a crystal form but can be refined into a powder and purified, increasing its potential energy and potential danger. Its properties as an energy source are not fully known, but it is used to power everything on Remnant. It is also referred to as the manifestation of nature's wrath, as it can be activated by Aura to produce powerful effects, ranging from lightning to fire blasts to freezing storms. As a weapon, it is most commonly used to augment weapon rounds to create things such as explosive bullets.

Emerald Forest - A large forest northeast of Vale. It is commonly used by Beacon Academy as a training ground for hunters in training.

Emerald Forest Ruins - Ruins of a civilization that inhabited the area now known as the emerald forest. The ruins are Victorian style and made of old, crumbling stone. Treasure seekers have looted much of the ruins but they become uncommon due to heightened amounts of Grimm within the ruins.

Emblem - A symbolic object that is a distinct badge for a Kingdom, organization, family, etc. Since the creation of the Huntsmen Academies, hunters and huntresses often take on their own symbol, though family heraldry is still seen.

Faunus - (Singular Faunus) are a race of intelligent humanoids that share Remnant with humans. They greatly resemble humans with the addition of animal traits, such as a tail or ears. Mammalian faunus are more common, but there is a very wide variety of types. Faunus have equal rights within each Kingdom, but are still regularly discriminated against, and are sometimes used as labor that is akin to slavery, especially in the Dust mining field.

Faunus Rights Revolution - This war followed the Greyed War, instigated by the Faunus as retaliation against Humans for trying to place them all within the boundaries of Menagerie. The faunus were victorious in the war, and as such, they were allowed to live as equals within the four Kingdoms.

Faunus War - See Faunus Rights Revolution.

Forever Fall Forest - A forest located to the north of Vale and the west of the Emerald Forest. A mountain range separates the two forests. The forest gets its name from the season of fall, as the trees retain their red tone colors year long.

Glamour - Dust can be applied cosmetically to clothing and equipment. This effect allows for a wide range of decorative effects such as sparkles or shininess, or what have you. Some Dust can provide non-combat based benefits such as the ability to exist more comfortably in high or low temperatures.

Greyed War, The(Great War) - The Greyed War began 90 years ago, and lasted 10 years. It was a world war, with Mistral and Atlas fighting against Vale and Vacuo in an attempt to repress self-expression and art in order to control the amount of Grimm in the world. Vale and Vacuo won the war at great cost. The four Kingdoms signed the Vytal Treaty to end the war. As a celebration for the end of the war, the Vytal Festival takes place every two years since the end of the war. Additionally, the Tradition of Color Names lends it's origin to this war.

Grimm - Grimm are soulless creatures of black flesh and white bone. They are characterized by masks of white bone and often take the shape of different animals and creatures of legend. The Grimm have hunted humans and faunus since the beginning of history, preying on the negative emotions of mankind. The Grimm vastly outnumber humans and faunus combined on the world of Remnant. While most are mindless and senselessly violent, stories tell of elder Grimm that have lived so long they've gained intelligence in their endless hunt of humanity.

Haven Academy -

Huntress - See Huntsman, but with breasts.

Huntsman - A profession that specializes in combating Grimm and in general, protecting others from Grimm, directly or indirectly.

Huntsman Academy - Beacon Academy or an equivalent school. These are attended by huntsmen in training and require completion of an entrance exam that includes written, psychological, and live combat tests.

Huntsmen License - A license earned from one of the Huntsmen Academies. The license allows a hunter or huntress to operate within the bounds of the law and accept jobs from hunter job boards.

Infusion - Infusion is the act of placing Dust directly on one's body or clothing, for use as a weapon. This is an archaic form of Dust based weaponry, and incredibly dangerous. The advent of technology has created new, far safer ways to store and use Dust as an offensive weapon. Dust infused directly into the body or skin is known to spontaneously combust, especially under the strain of say, combat. Widely regarded as a terrible idea.

Lien - Lien is the primary currency used by all of Remnant. It takes the form of small plastic cards, with varying colors representing different denominations. The symbol used is Ⱡ. (It is unknown how lien compares to any real world currency.)

Luna(AU name) - The name of Remnant's moon. Has been shattered longer than anyone can remember, and therefore nobody knows the cause of it. Luna is not tidally locked with Remnant, meaning that it spins and can appear whole during certain phases.

Magic - The term used to describe the abilities of the Four Maidens. Their abilities function through their Aura but are not connected to Dust or a distinct Semblance.

Maidens - Legends tell of four maidens, each representing a season. They are said to possess extraordinary power that can be considered magic. The maidens pass their powers on from generation to generation, and as such, there is always four Maidens.

Mantle - The previous name of the Kingdom of Atlas. Was renamed about 70 years ago after Atlas Academy became the centerpiece of everything within the Kingdom. Mantle is also a city to the southwest of Atlas city.

Menagerie - The southeastern most continent. The continent is largely populated with faunus, as the land was "gifted" to the faunus race as recompense for the Greyed War, though they did not consider it a fair trade. The land is largely desert and inhospitable, and the deserts are home to particularly dangerous Grimm. There are multiple settlements along the western coastlines, and the White Fang is headquartered here. Also, it is Australia, but with Faunus.

Merlot Industries -

Mistral -

Mistrali - Of or from the Kingdom of Mistral.

Mountain Glenn - A now abandoned wasteland that was once a Settlement of Vale. It is southeast of Vale and utilized an underground train to connect the two locations without fear of Grimm. Grimm eventually overran the settlement, and now it is swarming with them on the surface. The Undercity has abandoned mines and makes for a decent location to host a White Fang train party.

Patch - A small island off the coast of Vale city. It is sparsely populated compared to Vale's capital city but does have Signal Combat Academy. Due to the low population, there are only a light amount of grimm present most of the time.

Remnant - The world of RWBY. It's a planet.

Sanus - The largest continent, where both Vale and Vacuo Kingdoms reside. The terrain on the eastern side tends to be more mountainous or forests, while the western side is largely a desert. The center southern portion is a large Basin. The islands Patch and Vytal are considered part of the continent.

Scroll - A collapsible, holographic tablet with very diverse functionality. Acts as a phone that can utilize the CCT System, can record and play video and other media, monitor Aura levels of the owner and teammates/allies, among many other things.

SCF -See Semblance Catalyst Focus.

Schnee Dust Company -

Semblance - One's semblance is a manifestation of their personality and will in the same way Aura is a manifestation of their soul. It is powered by one's Aura, and is usually a singular ability that reflects the character or personality of the character in some way. Semblances can be unique per person or be inherited from one's parents. They can be a very wide variety of abilities, such as enhanced speed, telekinesis, and damage absorption to name just a few.

Semblance Catalyst Focus(Canon inspiration, AU origin) - A device that is attuned to a specific user and can augment their semblance by adding additional properties such as elements. For example, Blake used elemental fire, icy and stone clones in place of her typical shadow clones. Foci commonly take the form of ammunition but can appear as a wide variety of trinkets, such as buttons on a shirt, a necklace, key chain, etc.

Settlement - Referring to any town, city, village, or similar location that is outside of a Kingdom's primary capital city and surroundings.

Shade Academy -

Specialist(See Atlas Specialist?) -

Shifting Weaponry - Referring to the technology behind many Huntsmen weapons and their ability to change from one weapon type to another. For example, Pyrrha's weapon can rapidly transform between a sword, spear, and a rifle.

Signal Academy - Vale's primary Combat School. The school teaches general classes to age 13-17ish students, along with a series of combat oriented classes that instruct the basics of combat, Grimm, and weaponry. Included in these classes is the forging of a personal weapon for every student.

Solitas - The northern-most continent, housing the Kingdom of Atlas. Rocky cliffs and frozen wastelands make the land largely inhospitable to all creatures, including Grimm. The terrain also provides strong natural defense barriers against any Grimm that do make it up there. Large deposits of Dust are mined from the continent, supplying much of Remnant's Dust needs.

Sunkist Sands, The(AU Name for Vacuo Desert region) - A large desert located on western Sanus. Once the site of the largest dust deposit known in the world, it is now overrun with Atlas mining operations, causing many oases to die. Vacuo resides within it.

Symbol - Usually referring to a personal emblem. Also see Emblem.

Teams - Refers to the teams of four that all Huntsman Academies utilize. Four students are placed on the same team for their stay at the academy, and teams often attend the same classes and go on the same missions together.

Vacuan - Of or from the Kingdom of Vacuo.

Vacuo -

Vale(kingdom) - Vale is one of the four kingdoms and is governed by a ruling council. It is located in the northeastern part of Sanus, Remnant's largest continent. Within it's territory is the City of Vale, Patch, Beacon Academy, and several Settlements along the coast.

Vale(city) - The capital city of the Kingdom of Vale.

Valish - Of or from the Kingdom of Vale.

Vytal - A small island north of Vale. This is where the four kingdoms ended the Greyed War through the negotiation and signing of the Vytal Treaty. The Vytal Festival is named after this event.

Vytal Festival - A biennial celebration of the end of the Greyed War. The most prominent feature is a combat tournament that takes place at Amity Coliseum. A Kingdom hosting the event rotates each time, and it includes parades, dances, and other festivities.

Vytal Treaty - A treaty that was signed by all four Kingdoms, ending the Greyed War 80 years before the present.

White Fang -  Initially created as a symbol of peace, the White Fang has become a terrorist organization who threaten all governments and institutions throughout the world. They are based in Menagerie, where most Faunus go unaware of the happenings across the seas. They are responsible for many attacks but they are centralized around the Schnee Dust Company, its mining operations, and the distribution and use of Dust.

Continued:

White Fang (CANON):The White Fang is a Faunus terrorist organization in Remnant. Founded following the Faunus Rights Revolution, the White Fang was initially created as a symbol of the peace between Humans and Faunus.
However, in the face of continued discrimination and a change in leadership, the White Fang began to adopt more and more radical methods, eventually becoming a violent terrorist organization that has earned much notoriety in the world.
Enemies of the White Fang include the governments, militaries, schools and Huntsmen. Their goals are to destroy these institutions and cause the collapse of the pillars of society.

Glamour (AU/CANON): Dust can be cosmetically applied to clothing and equipment. This effect gives a wide range of purely decorative effects, from sparkles to shininess to what have you. These effects can also provide minor, non-combat based benefits. Adding Ice Dust Acrylics to your clothes can help keep you cool in the hot deserts of Vacuo, for example.

Dust Patterns (AU, canon-ish origin?): The usage of dust in its raw form to create an effect, such as using fire dust to form a jet of flame, used by casters. (Reference: https://youtu.be/9BJc7nrMnc4?t=58)

Aura Anchor (AU): A device that can store, or 'anchor' a person's aura. Near-exclusively held by the higher-ups of Atlas, with usages including prosthetics (speeding up the rehabilitation process).

Caster: A caster is someone who is skilled enough in the use of Dust to augment their, or their allies, semblance directly and without a SCF. (From character creation rules)

I am now looking for feedback (no Vox) on the rough draft of the lexicon. Note that this is a rough draft, and I may have interpreted things wrong or generally fucked up. If something is not clear to you, or if it sounds stupid/confusing, please let me know via post in the thread, Forum DM, or Discord DM. The post is earlier in the thread. Here is a direct link to it. http://rwby-rpg.rwbyfanon.com/index.php/topic,913.msg10854.html#msg10854
