"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!" A Booming and energetic voice explodes through the speakers set up around the enormous stadium. A deep and gravely voice, like someone who spent too much time smoking and decided now would be a good time to start screaming for their entire life. "WELCOME TO THE FORTIETH BIANNUAL VYTAL FESTIVAL!" The crowd erupted into a ceremonious cheer, whoops and hollers came from all corners of Remnant as people tuned into the match from home. "I AM YOUR ANNOUNCER, VULCO DENTRES, AND I WILL BE SERENADING YOU WITH THE SOOTHING SOUND OF MY VOICE DURING THE COURSE OF THE MATCH- JUST KIDDING, F ҉   ҉ KERS-" A loud, annoying BEEEP filled the arena. Of course, this of all events was kid friendly. "WHY WOULD I DO THAT!? I'M GOING TO SIT BACK AND LET YOU ENJOY THE PURE UNBRIDLED COMBAT! PREPARE YOURSELVES, IN THIS FIRST ROUND, WE HAVE TWO BEACON STUDENTS. IN THE FIRST CORNER, WE HAVE THE BIG BAD WOLF, GRAY SAGGIO, AND IN THE OTHER CORNER, WE HAVE NATHAN EAU, SEEMS LIKE A PRETTY CHILL DUDE... DEREK! I'M RUNNING OUT OF THINGS TO SAY ABOUT THESE KIDS, WRITE ME MORE SCRIPT! ANYWAY, ONTO THE ENVIRONMENTAL SPINNER, OR AS I LIKE TO CALL IT, THE ANTI-ENVIRONMENTAL SPINNER! ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES ISN'T THE SAME THING AS POLITICS, DEREK, SHUT UP!" The crowd, though somewhat confused, cheered heartily.

A large holographic image of a lottery machine appears on all sides of the arena, with two spinners. The spinners spun so quickly, making it nearly impossible to make out the passing words. It ticked through the options slower and slower until it finally stopped on Urban and Urban.

The sound of someone doing a spit take could be heard over the speakers. "BYGAWD, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! WE HAVE OUR FIRST DOUBLE ENVIRONMENT! BRING UP THE FLOORS!"

The floor of the arena lowered and, in its place, arose a single new floor. The entire arena became a broken and crumbling city. Fallen trees littered the small streets and broken glass laid along the ground. The city's buildings were falling apart and broken, though some stood, albeit with broken windows and walls.

Just then, the doors on each side of the arena opened and, from them, out strolled the combatants.


(A coin flip decided Nathan gets the first post. The arena size is that of the 1v1 arena in the show, but still features biomes, though scaled down. Good luck, contestants.)

Nathan listened as well as he could through the thick doors. It was ridiculously muffled, but the announcer's decidedly gravelly voice came through enough that he could make out about 90% of the words. So he was going against Gray Saggio. ...I think I met him, once or twice? He briefly furrowed his brow: he'd heard from his teammate Fortuna - via Marlon - that he was sort of reckless and, above all, powerful. He was slightly displeased at the urban environment he was about to have to fight in. Although he was pretty sure he could manage, he would've preferred to hit his enemy with a volley of shots from Ergia straight out of the gate. Oh well. Guess he had to deal with it.

As soon as the doors opened, he took his weapon form his back and slowly had it extend into staff form, barely making a sound in the process - although that was sort of useless with the din produced by the crowd. He carefully began to advance, as silently as he could, around the edge of the street he'd entered close to, taking a left at the first occasion - walking through what seemed to be a dilapidated artifice of a bar - while constantly scanning everywhere he could see, turning his had this way and that. He also listened as much as possible for any sound that may give up his enemy's location.

As Gray entered the arena his ears and tail dropped when he heard the stadium suddenly be filled with booing from the Beacon students in attendance. Though it was unsurprising that this occurred Gray couldn't help but feel like shit about it.  At least quarter of the people in this arena are looking to see me get my ass kicked. I'm just going to have to disappoint them.  Gray hurried into a building with a now repaired Lamnia in bow form having an ice arrow notched. He stalked about keeping inside buildings and keeping his ears out for any sign of his opponent.

Among the booing in the crowd, Orchid, sitting in the front row stands next to Stella, yelled out, "YOU GO GRAY! GOOD LUCK OUT THERE!!!"

Jack Pettibone watched from the front row, smirking and slouched in his seat, his hands crossed on his stomach. Thanks to Orabel's tickets, he had a ringside view. He was looking forward to watching Dogmeat and Nobody kick the crap out of each other. Although to be honest, after the shit Murk and Nobody had pulled...he wanted that loser to win. He'd already spanked Murk, it was Eau's turn soon enough.

Ki shouted as loud as she could from her vantage point a little higher in the stands. "Get 'em Gray! I don't know who the hell this guy is, but kick his ass!" she screamed, jumping up and down in her hot pink tee and daisy dukes.

Marlon, on the other side of the ring, roared his support for Nathan. "WRECK HIM, EAU! YA GOT THIS ONE IN THE BAG! FIGHT SMART LIKE!" he bellowed, once again starting up a chant and stomping his feet for his chosen contender. Dammit boy, ya better not get knocked out like I did...Pettibone needs a beatin', and you're by rights the one to give it...

Nathan was in the process of rounding the corner of a wall set under the remains of a miniature skyscraper, all the while watching to not step on a goddamn shard of glass, when he spotted movement in his peripheral vision. Stopping dead in his tracks, he angled his eyes directly at the black blotch he'd noticed. There, through an empty window frame of Nathan's building and a broken bit of wall in Gray's one. He was skulking around buildings like him, but he apparently wasn't keeping an eye out quite as much, his back and hair being the only visible parts of him. The distance was about as large as the environment would allow without outright being in the street - this was probably the best opportunity he would ever have. Slowly and quietly, Ergia's back staff portion slid back in as Nathan gently rested the other end on the window sill, a handle flipping out along with a scope. Aligning the crosshair with the center of his enemy, Nathan held his breath and, after making sure the weapon was set to full auto, briefly held the trigger down.

With the smallest hint of a crackle, Ergia fired, sending a packet of relativistic particles in Gray's direction.

(20% Aura damage. Shots that miss leave meter-deep, centimeter-wide, bright orange glowing holes in just about everything.)

EDIT: Auto hit removed.
EDIT: OP attack retconned, not that that does anything.

No auto hits unless given permission. Do this again, and your opponent will be allowed to use an autohit.

In the stands, Mauve was watching with a careful eye, trying her best not to notice one Jack Pettibone, sitting only a couple seats to her right. "YOU CAN DO IT NATHAN!" she yelled, eyes flicking over to Pettibone every once in a while, just to see how he would react. Oh, and if she strained a little, Mauve could've sworn that she heard some words of encouragement to Gray, which only served to make her yell louder. "COME ON NATHAN! I'M ROOTING FOR YOU! WIN THIS THING!"

Ki continued screaming for Gray, trying to drown out the suddenly vocal girl down below. Who the hell was she, anyway? Not many people seemed to actually know who the guys down on the field were, judging by the quieter crowd. Except for that Murk jackass at the other end...didn't he, that one guy with the jetpack, and Jack get into it about something to do with Miss Arachne? She still wasn't fully aware of what the hell was going on with this whole feud thing, and that bothered her. A lot. Frankly, Jack's behavior was worrying her.

Jack just smiled to himself, having noticed out of the corner of his eye that Little Miss Rat with Wings was nearby. Good, that's it. Keep rooting. Hog Princess' expression when he'd broken Murk was delicious. Go ahead, get your hopes up. When I thrash your hero around the ring, after he does make it to me and fail, yours will be that much sweeter.

Marlon's eyes briefly left the field, long enough to notice Pettibone across the way. And Miss Roux nearby. Well, that wouldn't do at all, no sir! Sighing as he rose, as getting over there would take time and he'd miss some of the fight, he went on his way, eating up the distance as fast as his long legs would carry him.

Hearing the sound of a weapon transforming Gray leaped into cover just as 6 rounds of something destroyed the space he had just been in. Pulling his bow to full draw Gray quickly popped out and fired off an Ice arrow at the sniper who took the potshot to begin with aiming not at the person but at the gun. (No damage to Nathan but will freeze over the barrel of Ergia and lock it in place with ice if the shot connects)  before quickly ducking back behind another wall. he can clearly shoot through it but I am going to be really damn hard to hit through here.

As soon as he saw that the Faunus had managed to duck in time, Nathan didn't wait to see him peek over his cover with a nocked arrow and immediatly dove behind the window he had just fired from. Something still brushed past his head and exploded on the wall behind him, trapping his right foot in the resulting mass of ice. Not wasting any time, he used his semblance to break free, barely capable of registering the drain on his vitality. After getting out, he switched Ergia to assault mode, fired 3 plasmoids through the window in the threat's general direction before dodging back down and scooting along the corridor, trying to get back into a position of relative stealth or, at least, close the gap between Gray and himself.

(3 shots, 3% damage each. Pretty much behave like normal, average-sized Dust munitions.)

As Gray dashed through the building he was in more shots blasted through the wall remarkably near him considering his opponent couldn't see. None connected however and Gray continued moving.   Damn. I need to close the distance between us or I'm a goner.

Nathan quickly crossed a gnarled street, using most of his concentration to avoid stepping on broken glass and alerting everyone and everything as to his current whereabouts. As he made it across, he flattened himself against the wall of a building, gave a quick peek into its bowels and, seeing as there was no direct line of sight to his enemy, cautiously moved forward with Ergia in staff from. The lack of replies from the bow-toting Wolf Faunus informed him that he was probably on the move as well.

At the lack of more raygunfire almost shredding him Gray stopped and his wolf ears pricked up when he heard approaching footsteps he smiled and converted Lamnia to glaive firm before her reversed course and ran back to where he had just been shot at. He quickly came across Nathan in a hallway and rushed him swinging his blade in a horizontal strike aimed at the boy's left shoulder which he would follow up with a shot to the cookies with the blunt end of his glaive regardless of whether or not the first attack connected.

(Shoulder attack=5% damage. Nutshot=3% damage)

Nathan's back shivered with surprise when the Faunus jumped him and it was out of sheer will that he resisted screaming bloody murder. Immediately, he followed the oncoming strike's movement with Ergia, parrying it and using the gained momentum to help the staff pivot, then turned to his side as he usually did - only this time, it made him narrowly avoid getting hit in the gonads. He replicated with a hit of his own, thrusting Ergia with both hands like a spear towards his opponent's throat before backing off a step or two and resuming a defensive position, waiting for the next move.

Gray sidestepped as he felt neither of his strikes connect and went to press his attack completely unaware that doing so had caused him to evade a strike aimed at his neck. Adjusting the grip on Lamnia Gray brought it down with all his might on top of his opponents now extended arms and then he moved in as close as he could and sent a punch at his opponents gut hoping to not give the boy any chance to recover.

Thank goodness he'd been moving into a defensive stance or he would've got hit square on the arms. However, since he had been doing so, he easily managed to block the swing with his staff's mid-section, but was caught off-guard as his opponent rushed him and punched him in the gut. Briefly wheezing - he'd had worse encounters with a concrete bench - , he pushed his opponent off of him and swung as hard as he could without using his semblance, the tip of Ergia becoming fuzzy as it headed towards the Faunus' genitals.

As he was being pushed back Gray decided now would be a good time to dash out of range. Leaping back with the push he was well away before the attack reached his special place. Changing Lamnia back to it's bow form as he did so Gray notched an electric arrow and let fly aiming not to hit Nathan but to channel the electricity through his weapon in an attempt to deal more damage.

(7% damage if the attack works.

As soon as Nathan realised that Gray was pulling back, Nathan stopped moving forward and readied a defensive stance. He saw the arrow get notched and, waiting until it fired, managed to dodge out of the way as a smell of ozone filled the air and static made his skin crawl. This had been a mistake on his opponent's part.

Keeping ready for any aggressive motion from his enemy, he switched Ergia into assault form and just started spraying the corridor with plasmoids in the bowman's direction.

Seeing the staff beginning to transform into a gun Gray quickly turned and ran dashing around a corner where he would not be hit by any more shots. He did not escape unscathed though. 2 shots in the hail of bullets hitting their mark before he got to cover.  Damn. That's some serious firepower he has there. Gray quickly switched Lamnia to twin sword from and awaited Nathan's next action.

Nathan was a bit disappointed with himself. Only landing two shots? Come on! He was right there! Oh well, now he knew exactly where the opponent was, and the he seemed to be smart enough to stay in cover behind the concrete wall. Now, how to flush him out...

Within a second of seeing Gray dive behind the aforementioned corner, Ergia's barrel had extended to its full length and Nathan aimed at roughly where he thought the boy would be. Sure, going through a foot or two of concrete wasn't ideal, but he bet it'd make the other move, even if he failed to hit.

A bolt of invisible energy left Ergia, melting a small, deep hole right through the corner. He immediately switched Ergia back into assault form to capitalize on the opportunity - were Gray to come back out and charge at him, he'd let loose another hailstorm.

(10% if Gray gets hit, since he's behind a wall and the shot loses energy drilling through)

As Gray remained in cover waiting for his opponent to pursue he felt a shot hit him through the wall knocking him forward  "aaaaggh dammit." stumbling for a few steps Gray turned and rushed Nathan as he realised he wasn't going to be able to stay in cover. Running right back into autofire.  "FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK." Gray took a zigzag path to minimise the amount of shots he took before he reached Nathan. Once he reached Nathan he sidestepped the boy once again aiming for his arms this time also sending a strike for the boy's throat with his other sword hoping to make Nathan drop his weapon. [5% damage on each hit]

Jack chuckled quietly as Dogmeat ate a bunch of rounds while charging directly into automatic fire. Even if he managed to beat Nobody, which looked unlikely, spanking his dumb ass would be a breeze. Perfect.

Ki screamed as loud as she possibly could as Gray ran right through a hailstorm of fire to hammer that jetpack guy, really hoping the wolf faunus could hear her right now. "DO IT, GRAY, YOU GOT THIS BY THE ASS!" Even though he wasn't doing so well, she couldn't help but admire the guy's guts. It couldn't help but make her smile. He was dumb as a box of rocks. But damn was he brave.

Marlon finally got where he was going just in time to watch Saggio run headfirst into Eau unloading on him. He thumped down next to Miss Roux, cutting off Jack's view of her, and laughed, "And that's why I carry a shield." He leaned a little closer and rumbled in low tones, "Pardon my intrusion, Miss Roux. I figured ya could do with somebody watchin' your back while Mr. Eau was busy winnin' down there. 'Specially with Mr. Loosebritches hangin' round."

Mauve had spent most of the match watching quietly and trying her best to not fidget, leading to her simply sitting rigidly. She was supremely nervous for Nathan, as she would not be participating in the competition, and she really wanted him to make a good name for Team FIRE. Though Ismael had won his preliminary against that Utsu. Served him right for being such a prick. Really though, she wished him the absolute best, and was undoubtedly Nathan's No. 1 fan, possibly after his parents, if they were watching. He was doing extremely well though, so it eased her nerves a bit.

Letting out a small 'Hmm?' at the thump that'd sounded next to her, Mauve lifted her gaze to find a torso. Lifting it more, she found the face of one Marlon Murk. "Oh. Good day to you Mr. Murk, rest assured that you have not intruded in the least bit. I always welcome the company of my peers. And I appreciate the trying to look out for me and all. Though I am fully capable of taking care of myself socially as well, a fact that you have shown to be well aware of. And this is not even considering the... extra eyes... that are looking out for me if anything gets physical. As I presume you refer to the heir of the Pettibones sitting only a few seats away from us, he wouldn't dare to try anything physically, nor verbally. The press are here as well. He's not the only one who's had some time in the ring. He knows that. Hmph. I can only hope that he does not get too far in this tourney. His head is big enough as is. But I must reiterate this, I do appreciate your actions." One of her practiced smiles, the one with only a sight lifting of the corners, one that lifted even more slightly after a moment, to present a feeling of lifted spirits. Her eyes started out wider than usual, created more of a fake doll look, before softening and narrowing as well, to present more truthfulness in her expression. She was too stressed to be truthful right now. Quickly, she turned her gaze back to the match, just catching herself before, to her horror, she started to crack her knuckles. Tch. Was she taught no better?

Nathan had been ready. Over a second before the other boy was in reach, he'd already started to turn Ergia into its staff form and taking a defensive stance. As Gray arrived upon him, Nathan ducked into a crouch, thereby avoiding the strike at his neck. Batting away the blade aimed for his arms with his staff, he spun Ergia to catch his opponent in the leg with the other end before stepping back and standing up, getting once again into a defensive stance.

Nathan didn't have time to react and was caught square in the back. Using the momentum from the hit to gain some distance, he rapidly spun around along with Ergia, aiming to strike the Faunus with a powerful blow to the side of the abdomen. No matter the result, he'd once again take a defensive stance. He would not repeat mistakes.

Gray saw Nathan turning and positioned his swords in a cross pattern to catch Ergia and prevent any damage before he slammed them into the staff pressing on Nathan before he raised a leg and threw a pushkick into the boy's gut while pressuring him back with his swords hoping to send him sprawling. [2% damage if it connects]

Nathan walked backwards at near running speed when he saw Gray's intent, putting a healthy distance between him and the Faunus. He readied a defensive stance and the majority of Ergia's staff sections became surrounded by a thin layer of bright orange.

Miss Roux looked more nervous than a cat in a room full of rockin' chairs, Marlon was certain of it. He couldn't blame her, a lot was ridin' on Eau winnin' and takin' the piss out of Pettibone...Since he'd managed to botch it, that is..."Oh, I'm sure ya can, Miss Roux, wouldn't doubt it for a minute. But even the canniest of folks can always use a second pair of hands, Pa always said." He chuckled at her mention of "extra eyes". "I can't rightly say I'm surprised you've got folks watchin' ya just like Cheri. Ya always did strike me as somelady important."

Jack had to avoid laughing at that big dumb slab of a man trying to be all protective. What a freaking joke! If you couldn't stop me in the ring, how would you stop me now? And why would you think I'd do anything but sit here with the whole world watching? Besides, it's not like you could stop words anyway, and breaking her pride is better than breaking her face any day of the week...You know, if Dogmeat really botched this fast, he'd probably have time to nip over to Ember's without Arachne noticing...nah, too risky, that would have to stay touch and go...

In the seat directly behind Jack, Mr. Galahad stared daggers through his sunglasses at the back of Mr. Pettibone's head. Outfitted in some beat-up jeans, a leather jacket, and a black knit beanie to hide his shaven head, he could have been just another tough guy come to watch heads get knocked together. And Lemmy, in a white tank-top and jeggings, had her hair down and heavily made-up, was pretending to fawn over him. From her angle, though, she could easily keep an eye on Miss Roux, barring Mr. Murk being so obstructively large! Ugh, she knew he was being a gentleman but how inconvenient could you get!? At least Niles, on the other side of their ward, wolfing down popcorn in his greasy blue technician's coverall, still had a clear vantage point. She admired his dedication, he found stadium food disgusting and stood a strong chance of retching it up later.

As Nathan backed up Gray gave chase though instead of attacking head on he ran straight past Nathan turning rapidly on his heel and striking at Nathans back with both swords [10% damage] before he leaped above Nathan flipping in the air and aiming a kick at Nathan's face [3% damage]

Nathan had been ready. No more surprises from Gray, he was now used to the style. Following him by turning on the spot, he blocked both swords as they flew towards him. The boy then jumped, prompting Nathan to go into a forward combat roll and thereby avoiding the kick in its entirety. Right when he came to a stop, he violently turned into a stab with Ergia aimed at the guy's back before popping back on his feet into a defensive stance.

Cata arrived really late. He looked up and noticed the landslide aura ratio, and realized how much stronger the opponent is compared to Lily, the opponent he faced in the first round. Not to mention she bascially forfeit the fight and it can come out much closer or even differently had the fight prolonged or had she not made the mistake of running off.
Wow, that stick stabs hard... Hope I get savanna again if I were to fight him.

Gray landed in front of the boy and as he moved to turn to face him he took a staff to the back. Using the staff to gain momentum as he turned and dropping to the ground as he fell Gray sent a sweep kick at Nathan's legs [3% damage] before he popped up with his swords swinging upwards hopefully catching Nathan in the back. [7% damage] If Nathan was still on the ground Once this combination was over Gray would then stomp on the boys throat with all the force he could muster without using his semblance [5% damage] and keep it there in the hopes of preventing Nathan from getting back up.

Nathan didn't see the retaliation coming and was swept off his legs, helpless to block the blow to his back. Rapidly rolling to the side, he avoided being stomped on and rose to his feet once more. Okay, so the Faunus still had some tricks up his sleeve. Nathan swung at the opponent's right thigh, followed with another swing at the boy's left arm before regaining a defensive stance.

Gray turned to the rolling opponent and hoped to be on him before he could get back up. While unsuccessful he was relatively close and could easily work with his current distance. lowering one blade to block the swipe at his leg he then raised his arm to block the next strike however the moment he felt their weapons connect Gray pushed down with that arm pushing the staff aside before thrusting with his other sword right at Nathan's chest [5% damage] before slashing outwards with it across Nathan's chest. [5% damage] After his strike was complete Gray moved even further forward advancing right into Nathan's personal space and ramming his head into Nathan's [2% damage to both parties. Will take damage in next post if this attack connects.]

Nathan was prepared for the change of tactics. Although his opponent attempted to swipe his staff aside, he managed to bat the sword away before it hit him and blocked the next strike as well. What he wasn't ready for, however, was for Gray to headbutt him. His head briefly snapped back and as it returned to its previous position, he took the opportunity to strike at his enemy's wide open side, although the hit wasn't very powerful at such a short range, before immediately putting some distance between the Faunus and himself by pushing off of him with Ergia's central section, all the while stepping backwards.

As Nathan's staff landed in his side Gray snapped his arm down on the staff pinning it to his side and feeling it burn him even more as a smirk crossed his face.  Yep. that's definitely fire during the short amount of time he had Nathan's staff held Gray waved his sword behind Nathan and released all of the fire dust contained within before releasing Nathan and pushing him back into the dust and pushing himself away. If this worked the fire that covered Ergia would ignite the cloud of dust Gray had just pushed him into and create a large explosion [20% damage] as Gray dashed away to avoid harm.

Nathan hadn't taken his enemy's Dust into account. Even though he knew it would sting like hell, he was okay with it as the Faunus had just dealt massive damage to himself by actually taking hold of Ergia.

As he was pushed back, Nathan already started switching his weapon's form, even though the sheath of fire wouldn't have the time to dissipate before he hit the cloud of Dust. He dove backwards, trying to gather as much speed as possible.

The Dust, as expected, ignited the moment Ergia grazed it and, thanks to Nathan's planning, sent him flying a good dozen or more metres away from Gray. Stopping his course in a tumble, he shook off his daze and, as Ergia finished transforming, brought the barrel to bear and pulled the trigger.

As the explosion went off Gray saw Nathan being propelled even further away than Gray had expected and he grit his teeth.  dammit. So much for rushing him straight afterwards. Guess I have no option left. As the smoke cleared Gray begun to glow red for a couple of seconds before the glow shattered in a way that looked similar to glass. In this moment Gray dashed forward much faster than he had at any other point in the match. However he only got about 3 meters before a bullet went through his stomach while his aura was down thanks to his semblance. As he fell from the shot another bullet pierced his shoulder and Gray fell to the ground screaming in pain as trickles of blood stained the ground around him.

Flanders, forgive me if I overstep myself, I'll be happy to edit accordingly, I just don't see how Nathan could react in time or even know this is coming, especially given the circumstances.

Jack sat bolt upright as Dogmeat's agony echoed through the now horrified stadium. He heard Ki's plaintive cry somewhere behind him, joining the wounded man's below, and he knew exactly what he had to do. Taking a deep breath, his glow flared to life, and he was off.

The people who saw Jack in the next few seconds weren't even truly sure they saw him at all, he moved so quickly. He almost seemed to flicker in and out of reality as he blinked from his seat, down the stairs, through the hall, and into the waiting area just outside the arena. He barely paused to breath between blinks, and by the third, he was covered in sweat. The fourth and fifth set a fire in his lungs, but by then it was almost over. Beating the medic team and referees out of the door just as it opened, he screamed across the slowly collapsing terrain, materializing like an avenging angel in mid-air right before Nobody. His flying spin kick caught the boy right across the temple as the crowd gasped in shock for the second time. The force of the blow sent him careening backward rolling pell-mell over the ground.

Jack landed in a dramatic, purposefully noble guard stance, one hand held blade like out before him, the other cupped by his solar plexus. "You're not laying another hand on Gray Saggio, you bastard!" he boomed, as loud as he could muster, his hair and clothes still tousled from his surging entrance. "You'll have to get through me first!" His face a perfect mask of fury, he stood, drenched in sweat and the cheers of a captive, hopeful audience, keeping his composure and doing everything he could to hide how heavily those blinks had drained him. This was beyond perfect. Never in his wildest dreams could he have hoped for something better than this, unless Murk had somehow done this instead...

In the stands, Ki was frantically trying to get through the crowd down to the arena floor, her face awash in tears. No, no, come on, please be okay, please be okay, please be okay..."Move! Please! Let me through, I need to get to him!" Suddenly a large man and his girlfriend got in front of her, and in a voice surprisingly like a drill sergeants, he bellowed for people to make way. The couple then led her down the stairs, making sure she made better time than she would have alone.

Marlon stood numbly, at a total loss of what to say to Miss Roux, or what, in fact, to do at all. What in hellfire....the only thing that came to mind was to lay one hand on the woman's delicate shoulder, as a paltry show of support.

"What do you mean a student is bleeding? That's ridiculous the gauges haven't even reached 15% yet.  Also, that's my coffee you inconsiderate dolt!"

Professor William Nox was busy checking the arena shields when disaster struck; someone rushed to his station, being one of the professors nearest the arena, and knocked over his coffee mug. Picking up his wrench and scroll William strolled leisurely to the arena just in time to see Gray get shot by a bullet to his stomach.

"That's peculiar, usually their aura stops impacts at this level. Must be something to do with their semblance." William murmured, scratching his head with the massive wrench, accidentally hitting himself too hard causing his aura to flicker for a second. "Yup, like that."

"Anyways, time to stop this fight, Titania and Alban are going to be furious if a student dies with this many people around and they'll no doubt interrupt my experiments again. The nerve. Now, let me check on the reco- Ah, there we go. Gray something, obviously the bleeding one over there, semblance is...hmm...mhmm..yeah... Why would a kid with a such a faulty semblance be allowed to participate? Ugh, might as well stop the fight now...Doggone it I need another cup of joe."

Bringing the scroll closer to his face, the noise above clearly drowning out his own voice, William issued a few commands to his drones as dozens started flooding the arena, most of them painted white and red to show they were medical bots, while a couple of brass colored ones blocked gray from Nathan's view lest he be stupid enough to keep firing.

Riding a peculiarly bicycle shaped hover drone into the arena Professor William Nox sent a message to the announcers to declare the stop of the fight and to assure the crowd that the student would be fine, Nox himself not knowing since he wasn't a medical professional but it was better than an outright panic.

"You over there, boy. Show yourself out before I have my bots zap you unconscious." The professor declared, his robots surrounding the boy who kicked Nathan and somehow got ahead of medical staff while he himself walked over to Gray. Several medical bots announced the injuries as a shot to the shoulder and stomach, the latter obviously being the more serious one, and begun setting up equipment on the spot for proper medical staff once they arrived.

"Ugh, why do human and faunus liquids have to be red, it's such a disorienting color." Nox said, kneeling down to the boy while tapping his head with his finger.  "Activate your aura, boy. At least you'll heal some of your injuries. You and your dumb antics caused me to lose my coffee break."

Standing his wrench to the side the professor took out a small mug, a sachet of ground coffee beans, and a thermos of water and begun preparing himself some instant coffee.

As far as I know Gustave was given warning about this from Arcus and Nathan, or maybe just Arcus, and it wasn't actually going to go any farther aside from shocked reactions. Jack was just standing guard at this point, scout's honor. Also, fantastic characterization with Nox by the way.

Jack relaxed only when Professor Nox spoke directly to him, eyeing Nobody the entire time. As soon as it was clear to everyone else in the stadium that the situation was under control, he straightened and sighed. "It's okay Professor, I just wanted to make sure Saggio stayed safe after Butcher Boy over there pulled that stunt." he explained, thumbing back towards the combatant in question as he walked slowly over, finally letting himself look tired. "Thanks for stepping in. Getting here in time took it out of me. Take good care of this knucklehead for me, okay? I got a friend he means a lot too." he said, ruffling Dogmeat's hair as he went past, waving sluggishly at the Professor.

Ki continued her almost blind rush down to the arena, assisted by the two kind strangers helping her through the crowd. Dammit Gray, don't do this to me!

Across town from his hotel, Arturo Chanson held his sobbing wife and daughter as he flicked off the television. What a mess this Vytal Tournament had become...what an absolute mockery of sportsmanship and brotherhood...His jaw tightened at the thought. To think of the inhumanity of it! A student, bleeding out their on the tournament floor, the eyes of the entire world upon him! It was unconscionable! It was barbaric! It was...Were he to have Mr. Eau in front of him right now, there would be some choice words peppering the air...

Having run out of oxygen with which to scream lay quietly as the medical drones and professor arrived. Hearing the man's advice Gray de-activated his semblance. The sudden hit to his stamina from doing so combined with the pain and blood loss allowing him to slip into unconsciousness.

"Already on it. Airborne Trauma Center ready in T-minus 40 seconds." A large airship that was floating nearby docked into the stadium outside with an operating table and a team of professional surgeons standing by.

A message was sent to the medics, notifying them as Stella rested a hand on Orchid's shoulder. "Don't worry. He's in good hands." She continued to calmly watch the situation unfold.

Rex: Just that I'll accept the autohit, but Nathan didn't let go of Ergia.

Nathan had a bit of trouble to process what was happening. The Faunus had come dashing towards him really fast, his Aura glowing and... shattering? Next thing he knew, two slugs had gone through him and the boy was now screaming on the floor, blood oozing out of two wounds.

A confused look washed over Nathan's face as he lowered Ergia, turning it into its storage form. He got up and started walking towards Gray, wanting to help him out, when a kick came out of nowhere to his left, accompanied by a burst of light, and sent him careening away.

As he got up, he listened to Jackass Pettybone's tirade. "Why the fuck would I want to hurt him? Shouldn't you be trying to help him instead of defending him from a nonexistant threat?" He then put Ergia onto its harness fixation points, crossed his arms and just stood there, looking at all that was happening.

Damned ash got into his mug somehow. "Wait, I am a doctor. PhD in several fields but that's sadly medicine isn't one of them. I wonder if sealing the wound with fire would've worked...I never did try biological dust experiments."

Tossing his mug back into the storage compartment of his combat wrench William quickly turned towards the exit upon seeing the medics arrive. Watching Jack and Nathan argue he felt like he should but in but didn't know what words to say, he was too entranced with the idea of biological dust injections at the moment...or maybe he already did that a few months ago? Damned faulty memory, time to check the scrolls.

"Oh, if anything I suggest all students leave the premises to make room for the medics. You can take your squabbling elsewhere." the professor suggested, his tone somewhat tired and annoyed because he just lost another cup of coffee. "Ahh, I'm no semblance expert but you should ask that gray fellow there why he participated in the first place. Quite silly if you ask me, entering a tournament with a semblance that takes away your shielding. If a bullet hit his head we would have had quite a mess if I do say so myself. And I get into a lot of messes on a daily basis. Now I really must fix that damned coffee dispenser on my tool."

With that last note the esteemed Professor William Nox rode back on his bike wrench and all, running into one of his drones on the way and tossing it to the side, and left the arena to go brew some real coffee in the faculty room. The bots remained to assist medical staff while several of them stayed on the ready to keep an eye on the students still there. Some of them having puzzled expressions themselves. Or maybe that was just the uneven eye pieces.

Jack was already heading for the exit by the time Nobody had gathered himself for a retort, and in response he just shot him a disgusted look over his shoulder. Brainy as you are, you ought to know just how screwed you're going to be...if they don't disqualify you over this, I'll drag you through the mud so hard your own mother won't even stand by you...He almost felt sorry for the guy, but then he remembered his and Murk's little "challenge" at the Summer Formal, all the times he and his shitty team and friends had gotten in the way, and any inkling of pity left him. Payback's a bitch, Nobody. Payback's a Bitch.

He had other things to take care of for now, though, and they came running up at the exit to meet him.

"How bad is it!? Is he going to be alright!?" Ki was a total wreck at this point, grabbing at Jack's shirt as she collided with him. He held her for a second, his actual exhaustion mingling with his feigned concern.

"It looks bad, I don't know. I'm no doctor, Ki. I wish I could have done more. At least Butcher Boy won't be able to touch him with the Professor around."

A large man spoke up from further back inside. "I have seen men take worse and live. It's an ugly thing, but he'll survive, that I don't doubt." he rumbled, before turning to leave with his girlfriend, who remained silent and pensive. Who the hell were they? Ki let go of him and ran over to Gray, grabbing his hand and crying until she was practically dragged away by a medic. She refused to be escorted out, to the dismay of an orderly who was left rubbing his jaw, and stood by the stretcher as it left the arena. She wasn't going to leave him by himself, not now.

Jack watched it all unfold as they went past, and on the inside, smiled like the Cheshire Cat.

When the Professor told them to leave, Nathan did. Strolling at his useal speed, he left the confined premises and found himself outside. He briefly looked around the stands and, upon finding the ones he was looking for, started walking again, planning on using his jumppack to reach his friends.

Sure, this was kinda shitty, but the guy was mostly fine, so it wasn't that bad. Of course, Pettybone - or Petitbone, since that also worked well as an insult - had been a faking dumbass, but he made a critical mistake. He'd tried to protect Gray from someone who was lowering their weapon instead of helping the Faunus. Anyone with half a brain would be able to see he had attacked for no reason, preferring to waste time instead of helping the maimed boy.

And with that knowledge, a small smile appeared on Nathan's lips.

Then the chaos... medic, bot, the one left standing tried to help and getting kicked by someone flying out of nowhere? Despite all this, he determined that this is a tragedy, and will not meet Nathan with prejudice when they stand in battle.

As the initial confusing about the fights abrupt end dissipated into general shock, Xanh simply sat in place, staring down into the arena in a mix between dismay and disappointment. Up until the very last moments it all looked like a difficult, but still very well winnable fight. It actually even reminded her a bit of her match against that joke of a Juno-guy - Him up against an opponent stuffed full with high-tech shenanigans, and seemingly underpowered in the face of this - but with the will to take up the fight anyway. And that was something she liked about him. Always ready to give a damn about the odds, take the initiative, and try to shove it right into the opponents face! But, as it turns out what probably had to happen at some point did happen - and all she had been able to do was stare at it.

It took a bit, but as she finally cought back up to the here and now, Xanh bolted up from her seat, almost tripping on the small puddle that had been created by her dropping the drink she had onto the floor as things had escalated. The fight was over, that much was for sure, and medical personnel was apparently taking care of the wounded Gray. But that was about everything she could figure out from up here. But that was by far not enough to satisfy her. More or less elegantly stepping out of the slightly sticky puddle Xanh began to speed towards the stairways. There would be no point trying to get into the arena itself. But if she was fast enough, she could probably get to the paramedical facilities and find out if he was alright, or to the landing area, to intercept the medics in case of them transporting the wounded somewhere off-site and at least figure out where to. Granted, she did not really know how to approach this, or what to do afterwards, but she knew she had to do something, if only so she could tell herself she tried instead of just sitting there, gawking at her injured teammate being dragged off.
