RPG Announcements / The Time Has Come Once Again
« on: September 10, 2020, 09:18:36 PM »
Once again it is the 11th of September. A day where we take the time to look back and remember. When one man looked out over the world, saw the violence and strife, and said "RWBY would be really fun to roleplay in."

It's been 7 years since Navlos wasn't looking at the calendar when he decided to open up our first site and, somehow, we are still here.

Few of us still watch the show. Fewer still even like it. Yet we are still here.

I don't know if we will be here next year, or even next week, but I also don't know why we wouldn't.

Whether you are one of the few who remain from day one, or just joined us yesterday; from the bottom of my heart, it has been a blast.

Happy anniversary.

Approved Characters / Cosette Silverhide

CHARACTER

Name: Cosette Silverhide

Age: 19

Species and Gender: Female Rabbit Faunus

Symbol: Mortar and Pestle

Occupation: 2nd Year Beacon student

Appearance: A tall, slender, girl. Cosette stands at 6’1”(185cm), but weighs a mere 150lbs(68cm). Long legged, with a swimmer’s build and slender arms. A bob of silver hair frames a heart shaped face with large violet eyes and a small nose. A lop eared rabbit, her silver-furred ears hang down towards her waist. The tips of each are loosely tied together with a purple ribbon.

Her standard clothing consists of a tight black t-shirt and loose denim shorts along with a pair of black and tights and black boots. For combat she slips a sleeveless set of leather armor over her shirt and tops everything off with a cotton shawl. Her bag is slung over her left hip with Little Thumper nestled in its holster on her right thigh.

History: Cosette’s story, like most, does not begin with her birth. Instead it begins with her parents. Specifically, her father. One Henri Silverhide.

There are those who know him as little more than a legend. The massive rabbit Faunus who could blast through hordes of Grimm and barely break a sweat. Others know him as a hero. One who would gladly stand between the weak and forces of Grimm, all the time with a smile on his face. Then there are those who truly know the man. Personally and intimately. They will all call him the same thing. A demon.

Henri did not hunt in order to do his duty in some ancient war between light and dark. Nor did he hunt to protect those who could not protect themselves. No. He hunted because he was driven by the urge to fight and kill, and he was smart enough to do it right.

When you blow a hole in a man’s stomach, people asked why. No matter how evil that man may, or may not, have been. But a hunter could tear out a Beowolf’s stomach and hang it by its own entrails and get paid to do so. Hell, if the same hunter did it enough times, they might even get a medal for it.

For several years Henri traveled the world as a contract Huntsman, earning money and glory to do things he would have gladly done for free. On his travels, he often met and seduced young girls easily led astray by his near legendary status. One of those was a young dog Faunus named Capucine. Cosette’s mother. Young and naïve, Capucine ran away from her family home at the age of 17 after draining a small fortune from the family’s accounts, and followed Henri wherever he would go. For a little while she was happy, birthing a daughter before her 18th birthday, but Henri was not the type to settle down and he abandoned the young mother and daughter one night. Leaving them starving a penniless just outside the city of Vale.

As the reality of her actions caught up with her, Capucine thought back to her past, to the home she had left behind. And so she wrote a letter to her parents, apologizing for what she had done, and begging to come back home. She had imagined many different reactions to her letter. Anger and cursing were the lead candidates, but what she never expected was a single, calm, sentence written in the easily recognizable handwriting of her mother. We have no daughter. There would be no returning home. No forgiveness.

Forced to do whatever she could to feed her infant daughter, Capucine spent nearly a year as little more than soulless shell before she was taken in by an older couple of apothecaries and helped back to her feet. Soon becoming something of an alchemist herself. Skills she taught to Cosette as she grew.

Capucine spent most of her daughter’s early years trying to avoid the topic of the man who had abandoned her. Both to hide the truth from her daughter and her own adoptive parents. As far as they knew, Henri had been a beacon of justice and mercy, but had been killed defending her from a pair of Ursa Majors. It was not until Cosette was 15 years old and nearly halfway through her enrollment at Signal academy that Capucine began to notice the child before her was more her father’s daughter than her mother’s. And so she chose to peel away the veneer of lies she had painted over her past and revealed every atrocity she had witnessed and every abuse she had suffered at the hands of the man she once thought she loved. It was not to seek pity from her new family, but to show her daughter what happened to the people around her if she gave in to her inner darkness. Unfortunately, Cosette had spent too many years looking up to her father, adapting her own fighting style to mimic her father’s. Even her weapon was an homage to his own.

Cosette spent the next few years in a near constant battle between nature and nurture, going so far as to adopt a policy of non-violence. A policy she routinely fails to uphold. During her first year at Beacon, she found something of a way to balance the two. Her father’s influence might drive her to kill, but she would always show as much mercy as possible. Death would be quick and painless. Wounds would be treated and stabilized by the same hands that caused them. She would be healer and a hunter.

Personality: Often described as bi-polar, Cosette is a series of conflicting personalities. She is shy and introverted in most situations, but prone to brash arrogance when speaking of one’s abilities and skills. Most notably when speaking of medicine and herbalism. Like her father she is violent, almost sadistic, by nature, yet is a self-described pacifist. While she would rather shoot a Beowolf in the stomach so she could watch it die slowly, Cosette is more likely to empty both barrels into its head in order to end it quickly and painlessly. Typically while trying to convince anyone who will listen, including herself, that she is a pillar of non-violence.

Her dichotomous nature spills into her social life as well. She is introverted, preferring to spend her time quietly researching or experimenting, but craves the companionship of other people. She wants to be alone, but alone in a group.

Aura and Semblance: Cosette is capable of using her aura to manifest as solid platform just under feet while in the air after jumping, allowing her to gain additional height or change direction mid jump. Each platform lasts for about 10-15 seconds, opening the door for some of the more agile pursuers to follow. Provided they can reach the next platform in a sequence. She can chain up to five jumps at a time, but each additional jump after the second comes at a heavy aura and stamina cost. Once back on the ground, her jumping ability will be restored after about one minute, but she lacks the stamina or aura pool to perform more than 2 or three full chains without adequate rest. Additionally, she is unable to strengthen her body, so she is still at risk of injuring herself if she chains too many vertical jumps at once and falls back down. She is unable to augment her semblance with dust or a focus.

Combat Behavior: Aided by her Rabbit heritage, Cosette is naturally fast and agile with a 5’ (153cm) stationary vertical. Cosette also possesses some more mainstream medical knowledge, but is limited to some minor first aid. Her fighting style focuses on fast, close in, combat while trying to remain out of melee engagements as she is physically weaker than most with under developed muscle tone in her arms. Her prefered method is to jump in, blast them in the face, jump out and reload.

When fighting alongside her team, Cosette falls back to a support/medic role. Handing out various mixes to augment healing, combat, or to cover an ally while they disengage. She can recognize most plant species in the world by sight and knows of at least one use, either good or bad, for them all. This does allow her a slight advantage in the field as she is able to replenish much of her mixes on the fly, but tends to avoid doing so in active combat. Unfortunately Cosette has poor situational awareness, and tends to focus on a single target at a time, and is not always aware of when allies are in trouble unless they grab her attention.

WEAPON

Name: Unnamed

Description: A simple brown leather satchel bag filled with Cosette’s potions, poisons, and other mixes. Measuring 13X17x7” and possessing several secondary pouches, Cosette can carry about 10-12 vials of her smaller mixes and about 5 of her grenades. As well as the ingredients and tools to make a few more on the fly. While she is capable of creating a vast amount of mixes, she only keeps a few most common ones on hand at all times.

Liquid Aura: A potion that does not actually replenish one’s aura supply, but stimulates the body’s regenerative abilities, much like their own aura would. Can be used to speed healing along faster than aura could alone.

Knockout Juice: Technically a medical poison. Capable of sedating a severely wounded person so that they may be treated or transported. Must be ingested by mouth to work, so it is unsuited for combat.

Combat Stimulants: A mix of adrenaline boosting and pain relieving agents administered in a syringe to boost a patient's combat potential, or allow one to continue past their breaking point. Excessive doses is usually fatal.

Flash Bang: Small, thrown explosives and detonate with a blinding flash and loud noise, but little force.

Smoke Grenades: Another thrown explosive that releases a dense cloud of acrid smoke that obscures an enemy’s vision and deters pursuit by irritating the eyes, nose, and lungs with a healthy dose of sulfur.

History: Just a basic satchel Cosette found while shopping one day.

Name: Little Thumper

Description: A simple 12 gauge sawed off, pump action, shotgun with an 8 round clip. Capable of various dust augmented shells, Cosette typically prefers to load fire or force rounds, with a healthy portion of solid slugs for targets with thicker armor.

History:[/u] Developed at Signal as an homage to her father’s own massive automatic shotgun named Thumper. Due to her inability to handle such a large weapon, Cosette developed hers to be smaller and lighter. The little version of Thumper.

Approved Characters / Chiu Fei Hung
« on: October 16, 2016, 08:53:19 AM »
CHARACTER

Name: Chiu Fei Hung

Age: 17 (18th of Saaral)

Species and Gender: Human Female

Symbol: Blue Lotus

Occupation: 1st year Beacon Student

Appearance: Chiu

Moderately tall at 5’10”(178cm) with an athletic build and broad shoulders. large blue eyes and a small round nose sit atop an oval shaped face framed by dark black hair cut in a shoulder length bob. Due to the need to wear sunglasses in combat, Chiu is rarely seen without a pair. Regardless of location or time of day.

Chiu’s styling choice tend towards various short sleeve, or sleeveless, tops under a dark track jacket and jeans. Her typical casual outfit consists of a white sleeveless tee under a black jacket with red stripes at the sleeves. The collar, hem, and cuffs are a solid patch of red, and her emblem is embroidered over the left breast. With this, she also wears a pair of tattered blue jeans and short top sneakers in blue.

Chiu also possesses several tees from a line of designs that feature cartoon parodies of grimm, typically the severed heads, and funny phrases. These tend to be her favorite items of clothing and while she does possess duplicates she does not like wearing them under her armor, just in case.

History: Chiu was born into a notable family within Foshan, a small village in western Tempest. Closed off and isolated few people would be aware of Foshan as anything more than one of the countless other tried and failed bastions of civilization that had been attempted outside the borders of the various kingdoms. However, this village of a dozen or so families is also home to a pseudo military sect that has trained to eliminate the creatures of grimm for as long as anyone can remember.

Like nearly everyone else born into the village, Chiu has trained in the various aspects of hunting from a very young age. Though, because of the isolated nature of the village, dust is a rare commodity and is a subject Chiu is not well versed in. It’s use reserved for only the most experienced hunters and in only the most dire situations.

By the age of 14, a full year later than the traditional age, Chiu had demonstrated enough skill to be allowed to accompany hunting groups when they traveled outside the compound walls. She took to the position well, quickly earning a reputation for her skill in combat as well as an eagerness to learn. Both of these could be traced to the presence of the girl’s older half-brother. One Ce Lam Hung. Six years her senior, Ce was a skilled and accomplished hunter by the time Chiu had been allowed to further her training, and was just as eager to teach his baby sister as she was to learn from him.

For two years Chiu trained and worked under her brother. As close as the siblings were, they demonstrated an almost psychic connection when they fought alongside each other. Able to react to the other’s actions and setup openings without a single word spoken. Eventually the pair earned a reputation as miracle siblings. A sign that future generations of hunters from Foshan would be legendary warriors.

Tragedy struck, however, a few months after Chiu’s 16th birthday. Whilst out on a hunt, tracking a pack Beowolves that had been probing Foshan’s borders, Chiu’s party was ambushed by a King Taijitu. After a long and hard battle that saw every member of the team wounded to some degree, the grimm lay dead. However, one of the two heads had managed to sink it’s fangs into Ce’s side shortly after the hunter’s aura had been all but depleted. The wounds soon began to fester as some kind of venom or corruption was draining Ce’s aura faster than his body could restore it, preventing the aura from healing the deep punctures.

Giving up the hunt, the group quickly brought Ce back to Foshan and into the compounds medical center. Despite using all the medical knowledge at the village’s disposal, they were unable to restore even a fragment of the hunter’s once abundant aura. Ce languished for several days, Chiu ever at his side. His parents there nearly as often. Death was always a conscious concern in Foshan. While it was not an everyday occurrence for a hunter to fall in battle, it was something the population kept well in mind. But this was different, for one so promising to not only fall at a young age and refused a clean death… this was not something easily accepted.

Grimm incursions seemed to skyrocket in the wake of Ce’s wounding, drawn to the village by the concentration of negative emotions there. Ce finally succumbed to his wounds nine days after the failed hunt, but not before he was able to speak to his sister one last time. Fearing for Chiu’s safety, he asked her to give up her training a live a normal life. One away from the dangers that had ended his own life.

Unable to refuse her brother, Chiu agreed, but secretly struggled with the idea. He was asking her to give up everything she had ever known. Yes there were risks, that fact was clearer now than it ever had been before, but those risks would always be taken. If not by her, then by someone else. She could not ask someone else to take those risks for her when she had the strength to shoulder them herself.

A couple days after Ce’s burial, Chiu came up with a compromise of sorts. Ce had wanted her to experience a normal life, Chiu wanted her training to mean something. To that end Chiu asked for, and was given, permission to test into one of the four kingdom’s advanced combat schools. Haven in Mistral seemed the obvious choice, yet something made Haven not seem like a fitting choice. Haven was too close to home. Too easily discarded if things got difficult. Vale would be the better option. Attending Beacon would allow her to experience more of the world without the safety net of home to fall back on, yet still allow her to continue her training.

Months passed and Chiu eventually found herself within the kingdom of Vale, just outside the gates of Beacon academy. Having not attended any of the primary combat schools, let alone one of the ones in Vale, Chiu was required to pass a series of qualification tests in order to attend classes. When the designated time came, Chiu found the exams to be much more difficult than she had expected. Most of all, the knowledge test. Even the practical combat exam was a struggle at times. Chiu’s mind still had not fully recovered from her recent loss.

Personality: Chiu’s basic personality is one that often seems at odds with itself. On the one hand, she understands the necessity of training the young to fight so that they can risk their lives for “the greater good.” Yet, on the other, she wants to fulfill her brother’s final wish and live the life of a normal teenaged girl. This makes her something of a socially awkward introvert, as she finds herself focusing on her training and struggling to overcome cultural and social differences she does not quite understand

Due to the, relatively, limited nature of her early social life; Chiu, like any developing teen, struggles to understand her place in life. An issue exacerbated by Vale and, to a lesser degree, Beacon academy’s lack of a clear social hierarchy that was so prevalent in Foshan. There, a person’s standing was defined by their martial rank. Everyone knew their place and the place of everyone around them. Here, one’s standing was something as vague and fleeting as wind, if it existed at all. It is an idea Chiu often finds herself in odds with.

Another aspect of her native culture Chiu often finds clashing with the Valish mentalities is the concept of open and casual physical relationships. Due to Foshan’s smaller population and constant need to raise and train future hunters without causing a bloodline to become stagnate, emotional connections are the driving force behind a family structure while sex and reproduction are seen as something utilitarian in nature. One could, and often would, find themselves in bed with a random partner one moment, yet return home to their spouse later in the day to find them midcoitus and have no negative emotions arise from said events. By anyone involved.

Chiu tries to keep the, relatively, prudish Valish nature in mind, but it is not uncommon for her to forget that casual sex is not an acceptable way to alleviate boredom while she is attending Beacon. At least, outside her dorm room.

Aura and Semblance: Chiu’s semblance is known as radiance. By focusing her aura on a single point an inch or two from her body, Chiu forms a ball of light that, when detonated, releases a bright flash of light. Chiu’s favored way of employing Radiance is to charge at her enemy and direct the ball over her right palm, extending her arm out towards her target, and using the back of that hand to help shield her vision from some of the flash. Her sunglasses also help to protect her vision, but neither method completely protects her from the more powerful blasts. To counter this Chiu rarely uses stronger burst from the front, and briefly closes her eyes when she has to use them.

Given enough time to charge, and enough aura to power the charge, Chiu is able charge her entire aura field and detonate a full body Radiance. This method is highly dangerous, however, as it can not only blind both her enemies and herself, but can also blind her allies if they are close enough and do not take adequate precautions.

Theoretically Radiance would be subject to dust augmentation via catalyst foci. However, as doing so would take away from the religious symbolism a light based semblance uses, Chiu does not do so since the book of light is not exactly clear on such things.

Combat Behavior: A mix of Baguazhan and Wing Chun, Chiu’s fighting style is an aggressive, multi directional, style that focuses on speed over raw power. Multi-directional does not mean she is capable of attacking from multiple places at once, but attacking to multiple places at once. For instance, instead of just striking towards an opponent’s head from the right, Chiu is more likely to accompany that strike with a low angled kick from the left or target the head, chest, and legs in quick succession. Because of her focus on speed over power, Chiu suffers from a lack of pure physical strength.

Having grown used to a partner who could react to her, and augment her abilities without needing her to do anything, Chiu tends to assume her teammates will do things without her needing to tell them what needs to be done. This can prove dangerous to both them and herself as they can be in a position she does not expect when she attacks, or she can leave an opening she does not know they can’t cover.

WEAPON

Name: Lianou

Primary Form: A double headed crescent blade spearhead 1 foot(30cm)in length topping a thick wooden shaft measuring 6’3”(185cm)long, giving the weapon a total length of 7’3”(215cm). A rotating dust chamber is located within the shaft, allowing Chiu to select any number of loaded dust cartridges in order to augment the spear with the associated dust effect.

Secondary Form: In Lianou’s secondary form, the head detaches from the shaft, but remains connected via a 2’(69cm) long flexible section of braided metal chain. In this form, Lianou is more similar in function to a long two-handed flail than a spear, but is better suited for crowd control over the spear form

History: Lianou is the latest incarnation of various weapons Chiu has adopted or crafted over the years. This particular version was created by her father shortly after her decision to attend classes at Beacon rather than Haven.

Approved Characters / Ianthe Galini
« on: September 22, 2016, 06:32:34 PM »
CHARACTER

Name: Ianthe Galini

Age: 17, Saule 24, 62AC

Species and Gender: Human Female

Symbol:

Occupation: 1st year Beacon Student

Appearance: Standing at a slender 5’5”(165cm) with long limbs and a narrow waist, Ianthe looks physically weaker than one would expect a future huntress to be, especially one who uses a heavier blunt weapon. While it is true she lacks the bulk one would normally expect she is by no means weak. Ianthe possesses dense, compact, musculature that makes it easier to a moderate amount of strength with gaining excessive bulk. Her skin is a light olive tone, more likely to burn than tan under the sun, and unmarred by freckles or moles.

Accenting this disarming appearance is a heart shaped face and large grey eyes framed by long black hair. Her hair is worn waist length in twin pigtails high on her head. A variety of accessories are used to tie her hair back, but is most commonly done with a pair of violet silk ribbons.

Ianthe’s clothes tend towards things that accent her legs and help her seem taller. Her usual outfit is an ash colored baby-doll tee under a black leather half-jacket and a short pleated skirt in a pale purple. Rounding out her outfit is a pair of black high top sneakers.

History: A native daughter of Vale, Ianthe was raised in the capital by her mother after father was killed a few weeks before her birth. He had been a law enforcement officer in a specialized division that sought to bridge the gap between city cop and Hunters. They were the ones called on to track and apprehend criminals would crossed kingdom borders or sought refuge in the provincial states. It was on a mission, tracking an escaped dust smuggler to Vacuo, that his unit was ambushed. While the team successfully fought off their attackers, Ianthe’s father had been gravely wounded. His aura depleted, he succumbed to his wounds a short while later.

Ianthe’s mother, stricken with grief, began to treat Ianthe as a precious treasure that could be lost in a instant. Ianthe was nearly a teen before even the baby proofing was removed. For the entirety of her  life leading up to her Beacon enrollment, Ianthe’s world was the City of Vale, and even then it was only the few blocks immediately surrounding her home. She had a few “friends” growing up. More akin to being just the kids who let her play with them than actual friends, but as it was all she knew she still thought of them as her friends. At least until they all went on to Signal or other schools and Ianthe remained at home with her mother.

Ianthe’s childhood was not without training or education, however. Before her husband’s death, and self-imposed isolation, Ianthe’s mother had been a teacher at Signal academy herself and was a moderately competent huntress in her own right. Skills that had atrophied somewhat over the years, but skills she quickly fell back on as she began homeschooling her daughter. While Ianthe would be the first to tell you that her knowledge of the world was not lacking, any Valish Education Board would likely disagree.

The circumstances of her husband’s death had convinced Ianthe’s mother that, contrary to what she previously thought, the world outside Vale was an uncivilized place that would destroy anything that entered it. The logical conclusion to this epiphany was that Vale was the only source of civilization left in the world. A civilization that the others could only envy or attempt to destroy. To that end, Ianthe’s education primarily consisted of praising the benefits of Vale, casting the other kingdoms as little more than the Greyed Empire reincarnate, and ignoring everything else. While this kind of thinking is would be indicative of someone not, quite, completely sane to most of society. For Ianthe, who had nothing to compare it to and no reason to doubt her mother, it became gospel. Vale was the center of the universe and no evidence to the contrary could convince her otherwise.

As Ianthe grew, and her abilities increased, it became apparent that she wanted to become a Huntress. As much to follow in her parent’s example as doing so would also help her “civilize” the ignorant savages of the world. Primarily by introducing their faces to her hammer. Her mother, however, had gotten to use to having Ianthe close to hand and she could not see Ianthe’s desire to enroll at Beacon as anything but all her fears coming to fruition.

There had been a time when Ianthe would listen to her mother without question. Even her rebellious phase had less a rebellion and more a quiet protest. If bedtime was at 8:00, she would be in bed at 8:05, and you can bet her shoes had not been put away neatly. At least until she panicked a few minutes later and fixed them. Now she was a young adult with her own ideas. Chief of which, what was the point in being civilized if the savage masses were too ignorant to truly appreciate Vale’s glory? It was the responsibility, no, the duty of the civilized to educate the masses. Simply ignoring them would accomplish nothing.

For a time Ianthe tried to convince her mother she was right. That she could not live like a caged pet all her life. She almost wished her mother had more strict, more confining. At least that way Ianthe would not know how bad the outside world really was. But she did know, and she knew she had the strength to fix it. Well, she potentially had the strength to fix it. A potential she would never realize if she remained at home. When it became obvious that no amount of debate would convince her mother to allow her to leave, Ianthe stopped trying and took the first real independent steps of her life.

Late at night just before the annual open Beacon exam Ianthe left her home with only a small bag of clothes, Tranquility, and a picture of her mother and father from before her birth. With only a brief note of explanation on her pillow. It was her first time being out that late, and the unfamiliar city would have been difficult to navigate in daylight, but Ianthe eventually found herself waiting for the daily airship to Beacon. Mostly due to luck, as the building she wandered into for directions and warmth just happened to be the airship terminal.

The exam the next morning had been more difficult than she had expected. The knowledge exam was the biggest issue. The parts that actually did cover things she had been taught seemed to lack the Vale-centric view she expected. Luckily the more physical two exams went well for her, but it was still a close thing. It was with that in mind that Ianthe looked at the posted results. She fully expected to have been failed. Doomed to return home and face the retribution of her mother. So it came as quite a shock when she passed, just barely meeting the required mark. She had started the day alone in an unfamiliar city. Now she was alone in an unfamiliar academy. It wasn’t much but maybe, like her test scores, it was enough,

Personality: Ianthe is, essentially, a very naive individual. Because of her background, and cultural isolation, Ianthe is devoted to Vale in a way that toes, and often crosses, the line into racism. Unlike the majority of the discrimination throughout the world of Remnant, her’s is not centered around human-faunus relations, but on those who are not of Vale. As far as Ianthe knows, or is willing to acknowledge, Vale is the epitome of Remnan culture and prosperity. Those of the other kingdoms are, at best, diluted, uneducated, fools who do not understand what they are missing by not casting their lot in with Vale. At worst, they are barbaric savages who look on Vale with envy. Willing to destroy what they cannot understand. Ianthe does not really hate the outsiders. No more than a man hates a flea. They are to be pitied, and if possible, educated so that they too can understand the glory of Vale.

Another consequence of her mother’s flawed teachings, Ianthe has next to no real knowledge regarding sex and reproduction. At least none that a girl her age should have if sexual health is even a remote concern. Because of this Ianthe is uncomfortable when in close proximity to males, or when around unabashed sexual behavior. On the flip side, due to her lack of education, Ianthe can be unintentionally flirtatious at times as she does not realize how things like a shimmy dance in a short skirt can be construed.

Self conscious of her small stature, Ianthe has several quirks that attempt to remedy the situation, but more often than not, serve only to accent the problem. Because she was often told as a young girl that drinking milk, and eating vegetables would help her grow “big and strong” Ianthe is a strict vegetarian with milk making up some 75% of her daily fluid intake. Additionally, her wardrobe contains a large amount of short skirts and tight jeans that help accentuate her proportionally long legs. Both poor choices considering her naivete and prudishness.

Aura and Semblance: Ianthe’s semblance is known as Shifting. It is a near instant teleportation over a short distance. She has never been able to shift more than 5’(152cm) at once. The amount of conscious thought needed is related to the distance Ianthe is shifting. For instance, if she were to throw a punch and her fist was slightly off target, she could shift a few millimeters instinctually, but a “distant” shift would require her to make a conscious decision to move.

Although her shifts to not require much thought, they do significantly drain her aura and stamina as well as strain her body. A shift puts the same strain on her body as a simple jump the distance, 20 times in a row. Because of this, Ianthe is not able to shift more than a half dozen times without considerable rest in between.

Due to nature of her semblance she is unable to augment her shifts with any catalyst foci.

Combat Behavior: Despite her slight size, Ianthe’s main fighting style is one that relies on brute strength to deliver the majority of her damage potential. However, because of this, dust augmentation is required in order to actually achieve that potential. Unless, of course, she switches to Tranquility’s secondary form where she can rely on speed instead of strength. Ianthe herself is moderately agile, but shies away from the more complex acrobatic skills one would expect from someone her size.

Her greatest weakness, aside from her reliance on dust in combat, is a complete lack of ranged attacks. While Tranquility does provide some semblance of ranged combat, Ianthe’s lack of skill with that form means that she must use it less like a true meteor hammer and more like a tethered projectile. Switching to the secondary mid swing, striking her target, and switching back to reel the hammer back in. This additionally makes her susceptible to group attacks, as she is not able to utilize the multi directional attacks a weapon like her would normally be able to do.

This does not mean, however, that she is a poor fighter. She is simply one with a role one would not normally expect. Ianthe’s role is that of a skirmishing flanker. By utilizing both her light weight, and Tranquility’s second form, Ianthe can adhere the weapon’s head to an object or enemy, switch to primary and let the weapon’s retraction to pull her along at considerable speeds. Attacking and shifting a few times, she can then use Tranquility to escape and do it all over again. Thereby harassing the enemy while the stronger weapons prepare.

WEAPON

Name: Tranquility

Primary Form: A two handed melon hammer consisting of a 3ft (91cm) shaft with a 7 lb (3.1kg) steel head. Five emitters, four spaced evenly along the head’s equator and the fifth at the tip, allow for contact based dust attacks loaded through a cartridge system located in the hilt.

Secondary Form: Tranquility’s secondary form is that of a meteor hammer. The shaft extends into a length of thin braided steel measuring 15ft (4.5m). A foot long section (30.5cm) at the hilt end remains intact, retaining Breaker’s dust capabilities.

Dust Functions: Tranquility uses a magazine fed cartridge foci system in the hilt to feed dust reactions through an internal fuel line to the contact emitters in the weapon’s head. The magazine is only large enough to hold 6 rounds and the line is not strong enough to contain the reactions of more than a single focus at one or for more than a few seconds. This forces Ianthe to trigger every reaction moments before impact or risk damaging the foci system. Weapon structural is possible if containment is lost while Tranquility is in the secondary form.

History: Tranquility, then known as Long Arm, belonged to her father before his death. After training with it while homeschooled, she adopted it as her own. Hiring a weapon smith to add the cartridge system and emitters as her slight size greatly limits her damage potential without dust.
