Title: A Pinch of SALT [Closed]
Post by: Kaliot on February 07, 2017, 10:05:46 PM
Atlas
Atlas Academy
Dormitory: Room of Team SALT

Avery LeBlanc
Attire: Atlas school uniform
Weapons: Philou[compressed] (hip), Viriti (hip)
General Vicinity: Nobody
Immediate Vicinity: Aurum, Topaz

"Where did you get all this stuff, anyway?" Avery knelt to the floor and sifted through a heap of knick-knacks that Aurum had managed to procure. Somehow. Glancing over the various items, he reached out, grabbed a rubber bass. and squeezed it. It let out a high-pitched screech that lasted ten seconds too long. Not saying a word, it replaced it and began to sift through the pile again.

"What sort of contraption do you plan on making today?"

Aurum idly fiddled with what seemed to be a few feet of yarn as Avery Spoke, the words going in one ear and out the other, and balled up all the makeshift rope into something that only a cat would love. Next he grabbed the squeaking bass from Avery's grasp and a makeshift hook that lay nearby, a stick he plucked off one of the few standing trees in their desolate academy, and some sort of magnet pair.

"It's not a matter of where, bro, Aurum said, sticking thumbtacks into one side of the stick. " because with the proper know-how you can get anything in this Remnant-forsaken excuse of an academy. A little trade here, a confession there, a promise to do someone's homework. The usual.

Sticking the yarn-rope-thing to the end of the stick Aurum figured he'd need something to hold it and grabbed an empty dust canister and duck-taped the whole thing to the stick.

"Do you think Sovereign would mind doing 3 weeks worth of homework for someone?

"I don't see why not, just gotta convince him is all." Topaz said from behind her book only half paying attention to Aurums ,thing, it didn't look quite interesting yet but she assumed it would be in a bit. Certainly looked odd in its current state.

"Of course if you studied the homework wouldn't be a issue and you wouldn't have to trap someone else."Sparing another glance at the contraption she saw it had grown into an intricate trap and Topaz couldn't help but sigh and shake her head a little. 'If he put half the time he spent making these things studying he would be a genius by now'.She internally monologed turning back to the book at hand.

Avery opened and closed his hands as if trying to come to terms that the object he had been holding was no longer there. He briefly hummed before continuing to rummage through the pile.

"I don't think Aurum's study habits are the issue here". Aurum had been off using their face again, clearly. Avery just hoped that he didn't get roped into Aurum's backroom dealing as well.

Avery pulled something else out of the heap: a bag of balloons. But not just any balloons, trick balloons. If you pop one, that all manage to pop because their inner lining is coated with an extremely thin layer of fire Dust. They'd actually been banned in Atlas as they were deemed 'too dangerous', but they are still sold everywhere else in the world.

He tossed the bag over to Aurum regardless if he was actually paying attention or not, and it was then that Avery finally noticed the contraption. He was flabbergasted, as always, by Aurum's little work of art but he made no comments.

"Oh the homework isn't mine, of course. I took sovereigns a few days ago and renamed it. Or was it Avery's...Oh well. Anyways studying really is the least of my worries, I'm quite the genius as you can see for yourself!" Aurum said, hefting up the stick-yarn-fish-can-thing while grabbing the baloons from midair. Taking the baloons he started stuffing some in the fishes' mouth while tying others to its tail and fins. He needed something for a bit more oomph though she he got a small makeshift firecracker and added it in as well. "I mean, who else but me can create such an awesome piece of...what is this anyways?"

Topz gave a small disappointed sign toward the notion of Aurum stealing someone's homework but didn't bother pursuing it more, it just wasn't worth it with him. "How do you not know what you built? That doesn't make sense." She put down her book and quizzically examined Autumn newest contraption."Looks to me like a floating, fish gut bomb, or something of the like. I wouldn't want to be under it when it goes. What's the plan with it then?"

"Hmm, something like a talking exploding fish blimp... He replied, studying the object in his hands. "Hey Topaz, help me think of a name for it. All great inventions need names. Hidenburg? Fishenburg? Aqua kirov? no...I need something that just shouts 'EXPLODING FLOATING FISH' when you hear it."
Title: Re: A Pinch of SALT [Closed]
Post by: Kaliot on February 23, 2017, 11:05:59 AM
"You could always just call it 'The Exploding Floating Fish'," Avery chuckled to himself despite how obviously stupid his joke was. "Or 'Chance of Aurum Acing a Math Test'. Or 'Chance of Sovereign Smooth-Talking a Lady'. Or 'Chance of Avery Winning Any Meaningful Tournament'." He thought we would wash away his terrible joke with partly self-deprecating humor, though it wasn't his style so he wasn't sure how it actually came off.

Avery ceased sifting through the pile and plopped onto his bed and just observed Aurum and his antics, occasionally giving advice on the specific placement of things to yield the best end result.

Topaz gave Avery a dead faced expression to make sure he knew how bad that joke was."If you want people to run away from it you could go with Aurums face, everyone would be terrified then." She poked the balloon wondering how much force would be needed to blow it and spread the fish everywhere.

"You know what would've been great, if we let the fish rot for a bit to make them smell really bad AND THEN put in the Tsar Tadpole. Make everyone hate us more. "

"It's rubber, topaz. Rubbberrrr Aurum said, half raspberry and half rolling his tongue.  "But a smelly real fish...WOULD BE GENIUS! TOPAZ HOLD THIS FOR ME!

Aurum tossed the contraption over to Topaz, the weird combination of line, rubber bass, and balloons tangling over the girl while Aurum grabbed his scroll shouting something along the lines of 'Ey, you got some spares in the kitchen?' while dashing out the room.

Topaz untangled herself from the mess of string shaking her head,"What have I done..." she murmured. Finally getting herself untangled she examined it the thing further deciding it really wasn't such a bad piece of equipment, but it was at the mercy of the wind. For now. Whipping open her tool box she began work on adding some motors and fins to control it.

"Whadda think Avery? Once we get the fish in here we're going to basically be terrorist." She said flying it around the room.

Avery hummed to himself, contemplating their, or at least his, next possible actions.

"I didn't think you would have a hand in making this contraption," Avery said. "In any case, I think it is going to be a complete disaster. A successful disaster, mind you, but a disaster nonetheless." He could see it now, him and the rest of Team SALT in one of three rooms explaining to one of three people what exactly they expected to accomplish with this thing.

His eyes followed the flying contraption as it moved about the room. His head cocked slightly to one side. "Hey Taylor, while your tinkering with that, would you mind doing me a favor by installing a killswitch onto it?"

(OOC: Sorry for the delay, school and finals =(. I am back now though so I can post normally.)

"Pft, as if anything we do isn't a successful disasterShe played with a moment longer before responding to Averys inquiry."Sure, I guess if you wanna be boring we could. Just saying though that regardless I'm pretty sure just for trying to make it we'd get in trouble."

She landed it and began installing a couple of things on the inside to counter the balloon hoping it would be enough, the smell was still going to be a issue but there's no real way to get of it really."You not gonna add something to this? If we get in trouble you're not excluded so might as well."

Avery shrugged off the "boring" comment having heard it constantly from his brothers. "This is as you say," Avery kissed the tip of his fingers and blew them outward, "A work of art and I am no artist." He clasped his hands together. "Anyway, I'll only get in trouble by association, and stopping him early will only pent up his desires even more leading to an even grander, possibly more dangerous scheme. Probably." He shrugged. "We'll keep it as our trump card just in case things get a lot hairier than expected." Which was usually always.

Topaz nodded her head in agreement while playing with some more. "Sounds good, probably should study for classes and what not instead of being in detention and cleaning stuff. "Finishing the failsafe she pushed it into the middle of the room and resumed reading her book."How long does it take to find some fish? Feels like he's been gone for ages. Think he got lost or something?"She said looking our the door and trying to listen for any sounds of Aurums return.

"I wouldn't get your hopes up," Avery said, getting comfortable on his bed as he whipped out a book of his own, a mystery novel. "Knowing him, I wouldn't be surprised if he went out to go snag a fish himself, Lord knows where the nearest watering hole is." He chuckled with a tinge of nervousness, unsure of what Aurum was actually doing. For all Avery knew, this all could've been a ploy on himself, not Sovereign. Not too likely, but Aurum was certainly capable.

He knew he should have placed a tracker on his brother when he had the chance.

Topaz lied on the bed reading her book for half an hour more, occasionally checking the clock to see how long Aurum had been gone. As the clock ticked past the half hour mark she signed getting up and walking over to the window. "He should be back by now if he is actually fishing for some fish he better bring back enough for everyone cause I'm starving."Squitting against the sunlight she scanned the view for Aurum hoping to see him somewhere. "At any rate, I wanna go get some food, wanna come with?" She said gathering her bag and a couple of key essentials.

"Hm, he did handily ditch us." Avery ahrugged. "Sure, let's go" He shut his book with a nice plop, put on his jacket, and made his way to the door. "Want to try that new restaurant that just opened up?" He opened the door, leaving it open as he stood outside in the hallway. "It's headed by that famous chef, uh." He remained silent for a moment. "I forgot his name."

"Elzar Bam? I heard he's pretty good if not a bit arrogant."She said slipping her bag on and walking out the door locking it behind her. Adjusting her hat she exited Beacon and strolled into town with Avery looking for the restaurant and on the side Aurum. Doing her best to navigate she eventually got to the restaurant."Huh, looks fancy. Hope we can afford it, should probably tell Aurum we're here thou."Topaz said pulling her scroll out and sending Aurum a message.

"Nonsense, nonsense. I'm sure he'll be fine." Avery raised up his arms. "Who knows what he could be doing right now. It'd be best not to disturb him." Avery adjusted his jackets, checking the pockets for anything he might've forgotten in it. He pulled of a small pack of mint gum that he'd bought the other day. "Elzar Bam, right. And don't worry, I can cover you!"  Despite saying that, it was only just within his range. Keeping the party light would certainly be preferable.

He made his way toward the building's exit, grabbing a stick of gum and placing it into his mouth. "Would you like a piece?" Avery said as he removed a stick and held it in Taylor's direction.

"Nah I'm good, we are about to eat and all."She followed Aurum into the restaurant and plopped down into an empty booth by the window and began looking through the menu. She glanced around the restaurant between items scanning the room for anything interesting or of note. Suddenly someone counts her attention, in the back corner of the restaurant clearly trying to be hidden were two students from an opposing team who appeared to be going out on a date.

Pointing towards the couple Topaz said"Hey, isn't that, er, what's they're a name from team HAJJ and CHEZ? I thought those teams hated each other."She took a picture as stealthy as she could with her scroll."Oh this is gonna be some good blackmail."

Avery took a peek at the table that Taylor had mentioned, and sure enough, there they were. "A modern day Romero and Juliana, huh?" He returned his attention to the menu. "Though I feel like blackmail would be a little less effective here than in the story." Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a waiter approaching and signaled for Taylor to put away her scroll before he arrived.

"Good afternoon, sir, madam. Have you decided on your meals?? He had his small notebook and a shiny, metallic pen readied in anticipation.

"Ah yes, I am ready to order." He turned his attention to Taylor. "How about you?

Topaz scowled as she packed she scroll into her bag muttering under her breath how Aurum was ruining the fun, once she looked up the waiter had arrived and was ready to take their order. "Yeah I'm ready. I'll have the chicken alfredo with some water please." She turned back to Aurum and waited for him to finish ordering, once the waiter finally left she began speaking again.

"Its been a while since we've gotten to just chill, not since at least last quarter. Still failing all those classes or did you take my advice and join the nerd side?" She said leaning back into her seat and began absent-mindedly spinning a fork in her hand.

"I RETURN!" Aurum said, his voiced somewhat muffled by a makeshift mask made of several handkerchiefs tied onto his face. In his hands however was a rather fresh looking piece of fish, complete with scales and fins, which more often than not are removed for cooking. With an empty vial of dust in one hand he stuffs the fish into the fridge with a grin so obvious it was seen through his makeshift mask. "Took me a while but I managed to stuff a nice hefty amount of mixed dust into that fat thing, I wonder why people even eat them, and to prevent spoilage till the grand exhibition it'll sit in the fridge for the time being.

Picking up the contraption from the middle of the room, Aurum absently picked up the contraption, strapped on a few hooks to hold the fish onto later, and set it aside, not noticing the add-ons by his partners-in-crime. Taking off his mask he tossed the handkerchiefs into a laundry basket and his rubber gloves into the trash bin.

"Nasty bit of business there if I do say so myself. Trying to gut a fish without actually gutting a fish and stuffing stuff inside is a bit tricky. Though with hands like these I could do anything!"

Walking past her dorm, going from a meeting between Faunus Rights activists to her pilot training, Saffron wasn't surprised to hear a loud commotion coming from her team's room. That didn't mean she didn't feel obligated to check it out, at least to make sure her instruments were OK.

'How are you doing, Aurum? Saffron asked cautiously as she scanned room looking for traps and whatnot. 'Not up to anything too damaging I hope.' Saffron managed a small smile, she loved her team but being one of the very few Faunus team leaders made her incredibly embarrassed whenever one of their pranks got linked back to them.

Quickly noticing the 'harness' Aurum was 'working' on Saffron looked like she was going to ask for an explanation but decided at the last second it wasn't worth the hassle. Placing her 12 string guitar on the wall and looking over the instrument for any new nicks Saffron called out to Aurum. 'Do you know where Talyor and Avery are?' Satisfied the instrument would survive another day Saffron turned to face her teammate and awaited his response.

"Oh they're over ther...where the heck are they? Oh well, Saf, mind helping me haul this work of art to a crowdwd area? I've decided to be merciful and use the bass while fresh and not smelling like Avery's week old gym socks."

Saffron tried her best to give a stern glare at Aurum's ridiculous suggestion but understood how fruitless talking him out of this would be. Giving an exaggerated sigh Saffron nodded 'Well I guess there is less chance of you getting caught and myself getting blamed if I help out, ironically.' The Faunus chuckled under her breath at the strangeness of her life. She would never get used to the shifts from activism, military training and travelling the world, all coloured by an endless array of pranks.

'I don't get much use out of my double base anymore, we could use the case to transport your 'work of art' less conspicuously.' Saffron suggested dragging the heavy, leather bound case out of the closet.

Aurum gave a thousand watt smile and a thumbs up saying something  along the lines of 'you're the best' and 'best partner in crime ever'. Taking the case from Saffron, Aurum begun stuffing the contraption inside after putting the instrument.

"How do you want this to play out? We draw in a crowd ourselves claiming to be buscers in the hallways or secretly plan out an elaborate scheme in the cafeteria? I always hated their caseroles. Needed more macaroni. " Despite his obvious lack of cooking knowledge Aurum gave an audible sound of disgust as he recalled the particular dish. Who the heck doesnt put macaroni on the menu anyways? Maybe he'll swap all the foodnitems next time with the pasta, that would be a good project to invest in after this.

Saffron couldn't help but grin at Aurum's energetic raving. Off on another adventure, I suppose. Lets hope we don't get into too much trouble. Saffron thought to herself as Aurum took the case.

'Maybe not the cafeteria, we also have meals there and I doubt anyone will be able to get all the fish smell out for a while. Maybe a lecture hall instead? Or at least a wing of the school we don't frequent as much.' Saffron offered, cementing herself as an accomplice. 'I'm not going to contaminate any of my instruments though, so we will have to think of another scheme.'

Taking her scroll out and sends a quick text to Topaz and Avery simply asking where they are and that Aurum has found his fish. She wasn't really worried but still liked know where everyone was, it made it harder for them to sneak up on her when Aurum's pranks turned inevitably inward.

Halfway though a very important conversation with Avery about what animal would create the most chaos if you doubled their size her scroll went off with several messages from Saffron. A quick glance at it allowed her to see that Aurum had returned with a fish and was going to go detonate it somewhere, the where being still being decided. "Looks like Aurum and Saffron are back,we should probably head over as well if we want to see this thing go."

Placing money on the table to pay for her meal and walking out the door she sent out a quick text stating that they would be back soon.
Title: Re: A Pinch of SALT [Closed]

Avery unlocked his scroll and nodded. The two had eaten their fill, but before Avery could pay, Taylor beat him to the punch. His eyes lingered on the money for an extra second, the cogs in his brain churning as she had previously wondered if they could even afford the place and yet here they were. He waved over their waiter, requesting a receipt before leaving the scene.

A double-tap came from the dorm-room door before it busted open to an "I'm freeeeee!". Avery first glanced at the contraption then at Aurum. He raised his arms up in the air, walked over to Aurum, and placed an arm around his shoulder."Nice thing, bro. What are we going to do with it?" He grinned and gave a wink to Saffron. Avery was unfortunately never good at impersonating his brothers but here he was hoping.

Aurum placed a hand to his chin and replied, "Just what any sane genius would do with it! Whipping out the contraption in full form he demonstrated the 'flying bomb fish' dangling in mid-air with nothing but a wire and some sort of beeping light on the fish's belly. "We're going to take this baby out for a ride. The problem is...I don't know where. Saffron doesn't want it in the cafeteria, the dorms are a big no-no.. Beginning to pace he dragged the device along with him while the fish dangled above the heads of his teammates, soulless eyes boring into their souls as it swung to and fro.

In the time it took for Topaz and Avery to make their way back to Saffron had settled on her bed as she and Aurum continued to brainstorm ideas. 'Neither of those are terms I would use to describe you Aurum so I think the question still stands.' Saffron taunted playfully, grinning widely as the rest of her team came into the dorm. Her team. Three years and it still didn't feel real ....or deserved. Shaking her head before such negative thoughts could settle she tried to focus on the here and now.

'Ah there you are, did I drag you two away from something?' Saffron asked, tilting her head to one side. 'But yea I don't want it anywhere we frequent but there is no point doing this if no one is going to notice.' Saffron continued as her smile turned mischievous. Taking out her compact mirror Saffron then worked on flattening any stray hairs which been shaken loose in the passion-filled meeting she had come out of half an hour ago.

While correcting herself Saffron kept a watchful eye Avery, she had never got the hang of telling the triplets apart but didn't want to embarrass herself admitting that.

Topaz shook her head in response to Saffron's question, "Nah just some lunch, it officially made me broke but the food was worth it." She said flopping onto the bed beginning the long process of digesting her meal. From her vantage point, She watched the others interact while thinking of some other potential spots for their "activity". She closed her eyes mentally mapping potential areas that they could A)use it and B)be able to run away from as quickly as possible, seems meeting both criteria would be difficult.

"What about the main plaza? We could just pretend to be one of the unlucky few nearby."She thought her plan was a genius,'Plus I could get a bird's eye view with Lithium and stay mess free.' was another thought that ran alongside it. Deciding preemptively that her plan was the best she reached under the bed and pulled out Lithium, making sure that he had enough charge and a good enough crystal for a flight.

Avery released himself from Aurum, going back to his normal self as if nothing had ever happened. "But the problem still remains that it is going to be difficult for you to move this contraption around to any public place with any sort of popularity." He moved himself over to an idle computer and projected it's screen onto a wall-mounted television.  What he brought up was a map of the city. Avery walked up to the television, grabbed what appeared to be a marker, and drew a circle around their dormitory. "So we're here. And the plaza is...here, west and slightly south of our room" He planted an 'X' on the plaza. "There are a few paths that can be taken to get there, the most direct of them passing by the cafeteria, recreational center, and training center." He glanced at his watch. "Moving through this area would be reckless regardless of time. Considering that it's midday, it will be extremely high risk for low reward. So, you some detours. Taking this northern path here will increase the travel time by some significant amount, but because it crosses through an office sector, there will be less eyes to catch you. On the other hand, this southern path bypasses the on-campus obstacles, It's shorter than the other path but does cross through a commercial sector. It's too hard to judge how many people will be around; it's too variable for this time of day." He turned back toward his teammates. "So those are some of the options for you all to take on your way to the plaza."

Avery glanced back at the screen, intending to keep his eyes there for just a second but something caught his attention. "Or...," he erased all the markings he had made, "You ignore the plaza and instead plant yourself here, in this empty lot of the office sector." The flow of his words noticeably shifted to that of sudden realization. He planted an 'X' on the empty lot and drew a few arrows pointing out of the sector. "People will be leaving, or people will be retreating to inner parts of their offices: their cafeterias, their break-rooms, what have you. It doesn't matter what it is exactly. What matters is that less eyes will be along the windows. So less people in the area and less along the edges of the buildings. You could set up here in the lot, wait for everyone to returns to the sector and to their positions, and then, well, do whatever it is you plan on doing with that thing."

As Avery prattled on, Aurum took one glance at the map with its x's and o's and whatever and snuck out the window, creative a slow bubble around the team so he could have a head start. At the very edge, and with Avery too busy with his plan, Aurum lurched through the bubble edge and tossed himself out the window, the sudden change of time speeds dizzying him as he flopped onto a bush down below. Being a bit far from the bubble it started to fade and he sprinted while dispelling it, dangling his new contraption along towards the crowded pala.

OK that's definitely Avery. Saffron thought to herself, using her mirror to hide her smile as her team mate began forming a plan. Collecting herself Saffron felt Aurum move, she had put away her compact mirror and was half on her feet before Aurum's bubble hit her. Keeping the thousand of curses inside herself which instantly came to mind she tried to struggle through the slow field. Almost tripping over herself as the bubble ended Saffron had to bite back another curse, but now shared between Aurum's semblance and her own stupidity. 'Aurum get back here you inbred little shit.' Saffron yelled before looking sympathetically towards Avery after realising her mistake.

Continuing forward Saffron threw herself out of the window after Aurum drawing a hatchet and throwing it towards Aurum in it's boomerang form. If you get me called into the General's offices again I swear, the things I will do to you. Saffron vowed internally.

Aurum looked back at his furious teammate, somehow having caught up to him and activated a speed bubble to give him a slight boost. The hatchet dove into bubble and despite what would have been a perfevt hit, the weapon arched heavily to the side and nearly clipped his fish, exiting the bubble then angling upwards this time. Wondering whether he should ever find out why projectiles did that he shrugged then leapt out his bubblr, the lurching hitting once again but this time he was smiling at Saffron as he made consecutive bubbles, leaping in and out of sped up time to easily gain distance.

"Sorry Saff, but I cant let an opportunity this good pass up!" he shouted, voice voice slurring as he hopped into a bubble for the upteenth time. "Damn this is tiring. I'll need a good doppio to get my energy back after this."

Topaz looked on as Aurum jumped out the window followed closely behind by Saffron yelling obscenities hoping to catch up. "Don't want to miss out on this fun" she said out loud before grabbing Lithium and chucking him out the window before cranking the throttle up to max. Cruising along at battery draining max it wasn't too long before it managed to catch up to Aurum about ten feet above him. I should stop him before he does anything to get us into trouble, but I do want to see that thing go off.She thought calculating plans to get both statements to be true. A grin crept across her face as he realized it may be possible to do both at once. Pulling Lithium ahead of Aurum she dropped the plane to slightly below head level before killing the throttle and opening it up to its max width of 6ft. Hopefully one of the sharp edges would puncture the balloon while the bar would trip Aurum slowing him down enough for Saffron to deal with him assuming his weird time bubble didn't screw it up somehow.

Avery suddenly found himself in an empty room, a slight breeze letting itself known with a soft hum and drawing attention to the window which has just been sealed shut just moments before. His mind quickly clicked into action as Aurum has done this stunt on numerous other occasions.

He turned back to the map, his eyes darting from his location to the two possible targets and the paths that could be taken to them. Settling on the path that would most directly lead to the target plaza, he shut the window and hurried off towards the nearest intersection building: the campus's recreational center.

Aurum thought the coast was clear for a second before some dumb contraption burst the balloon of his exploding floating fish piņata. He spotted the flying piece of crap too late and tripped as well, swearing as he got a the stick tangled up with some string. Grabbing the fish part along with some remaining string he made a bubble around him and quickly used his time to fix the string and stick, but with no spare balloon left.

"Damn it, Topaz." He swore, seeing the pathway to the plaza. "On second thought...maybe this could still work out."

Using his bubble he leapt in and out of sped up time and finally stopped upon seeing a small crowd. Pranking instincts taking over he leapt for what counted as cover in a meager bush speckled with some snow and flung his fish out high above the crowds, the smelly, scaly, dead thing dangling high on a hard light outdoor lamp. To activate it he still needed  to activate the dust laced string, which...lost some of its dust. Now he had to find some other way to activate it. And a way to gather a crowd. Some people stared at the dangling fish, wondering why the heck it was even there in the first place as Aurum snuck out of the bush to find a rock to throw at it.

"A little physical stress should be enough. Just hope my ball arm works as well as it used to,"

Hitting the ground hard Saffron used her semblance to absorb some of the impact but still had to forced herself to start running as the pain rocketed through her legs  Drawing another hatchet Saffron was now fully armed again and even more furious given Aurum's taunting and the pain in her legs. She trained her shotguns at her fleeing teammate, slug rounds don't have the spread of normal shotgun rounds but still Saffron couldn't line up a clear shot. Except. Saffron thought, an idea quickly forming in her head. From above. Leaping into the air, augmenting her considerable strength with the energy she had stored from the fall Saffron fired a single ice dust slug at the device itself meaning even if the device is thrown the smell and chemical reactions might not activate.

"Wooo" Topaz quietly celebrated as she kept running after Aurum, Lithium accomplished his goal but Aurum was still armed with the fish so annoyingly the only thing that changed was the detonating method. She swept down to grab Lithium as she continued chasing after Aurum hoping to stop him before he got the team in trouble. But he had disappeared somewhere into the crowd while simultaneously putting the fish and string on top of a lamp. His skills can be impressive when he actually gets around to doing something she thought while scanning the area for signs of him. More and more people were starting to gather around to investigate the ruckus caused by the people who were already there and gacking at the now frozen fish.

Thinking fast Topaz decided that since she probably wouldn't be able to find Aurum in time to stop him the next best thing would be to get the fish. She ran toward the lamp post jumping at the last minute grabbing onto the slick surface of the pole, she only got a couple more feet off the ground before her clumsiness got the better of her and she slipped off. She tried to recover by reaching up towards the handles that extended right below the light, only to have her fingers fall short and instead she fell to the ground landing in a bush. "Ow, that hurt"

White vapor filled the air in front of his face as Avery managed to find his way onto a rooftop overlooking the plaza. He focused onto the gathered crowd, bringing out his scroll and zooming in to spot Aurum sneaking about and Taylor laid out on her back. Saffron's shot had managed to freeze over the fish without outright destroying it and still swinging in the wind. Still, he wasn't completely convinced that it had been disabled.

He brought his scroll down from his face, exiting the zoom feature and immediately going into his contacts. [Saffron]. He tapped a few icons before starting to speak into the scroll. "If you can, throw the fish onto the roof of D'Lano Pastries to the east, your...left." He sent the voice message off to Saffron, hoping that she wouldn't be too caught up in Aurum's shenanigans to miss it. Avery went on to [Topaz], sending her a text message only containing the word "Killswitch". Lastly, it was Aurum's turn. "Are you trying to cause trouble for the police again?", he wrote and sent. Considering there were no officers in the immediate vicinity of the crowd, Avery hoped that Aurum would get the underlying message.

Cops? Why would he have to worry about cops? It's not like anyone's gonna get injured or something. Besides, who the heck is gonna rat him out? Aurum grinned at Avwry's message but immediately flinched at the sound of ice freezing his prized contraption.

Gasping in shock he scrambled to look for something to thaw it out, or perhaps something strong enough to break the ice AND the fish at the same time. Time was running out and it seemd that saffron was closing in while topaz laid flat on the ground after a failed retreival attempt. Scratching his head Aurum knew that using his semblance would.be a dead giveaway to onlookers and his weapon was stuck in the dorm. Racking his brain he suddenly remembered where exactly he placed the fish. A dust powered lamp. if he could somehow overload the lamp, a blast of heat or electricity would be more than enough to trigger the explosion!

Getting giddy with excitement he rushed over to a random passerby and asked for a vial of lightninf dust, which he unfortunately couldnt get. Scratching his head once again he decised to just manually trigger the overload by sneaking towards the lamp and tampering with the surge control. He had a spare jacknife in his pockwt so he started making his way through the crowd and towards the lamp's base, skipping over Topaz while whistlinf a happy tune.

Hitting the ground far more gracefully this time Saffron rolled just before impact, minimising any further damage to her knees Saffron quickly made her way through the crowds. The action made her quills to stand up, causing old prejudices to resurface and Saffron found herself stonewalled a few times but made good progress once she got to the side of the street. Her console beeped as Avery's message played and Saffron replied breathlessly 'Understood. He's right by.....FUCK'

Distracted Saffron almost lost her target, only making Aurum out of the crowd as he moved against the flow of people towards a light-post. Not immediately grasping Aurum's plan Saffron still knew she had to stop him rushing forward Saffron hoped to reach her team mate before whatever he planned would eventuate and rip the frozen fish from his hands.

As Topaz lied on the ground she heard her scroll buzz with a new message from Avery. Whipping it out of her pocket she read his instructions regarding the kill switch, but at first had no idea what he was on about before remembering what it was. Since she can't smell any banana-ish smell she assumed the battery/kill switch that she shoved in there to absorb any charge hadn't punctured or exploded yet so it should work. In order to make doubly sure that it hadn't fallen out she turned her head to get a visual on the fish, in the process noticing it was very much frozen. Meaning the battery was frozen. Meaning if Aurum found a way to quickly unfreeze the fish and battery it would not end well for the fish.

Topaz sent a reply back to Avery,"Might not work if the fish is quickly heated up. One way to find out."At the moment of hitting send she saw Aurums boot cross over her head and as he began tinkering with the lamp post. "Please don't do this."She said standing up and stretching out,"Itd be nice not to spend all weekend in detention."

"Don't you worry one bit, Topaz. I'm a genius at covering my tracks." He replied, unscrewing the first screw in the panel. A larger crowd was gathering and one guy even seemed to be poking the fish with his spear. "Ooh, juicy. Now there goes screw number two."

Dropping the screws on the ground Aurum also began pulling out two wires and gnawed off the rubber with his teeth near the ends to make contact points. Third screw down and he carefully pulled out two nails that he planned on jamming steaight to the lamp circuitry to connect his battery to. Unscrewing with one hand and twisting copper wires over a nail with the other, he managed to save time and get the panel off just as he prepped his dust canister for the surge.

"Well. wish me luck!" Aurum said, slamming the nail into the circuitry and activating the dust canister.

The lamp post flickered violently for a few seconds, sizzling and sparking here and there around the frozen fish  and even started to thaw it out, unfortunately the damned thing short circuited and popped the bulb just as Aurum exhausted his dust.

"What! That was supposed to work! and...is that banana i smell?" Aurum cried, hands pulling at his spiky hair. "Oh screw it guess I'll just shoot the damned thing."

Finally realising Aurum's plan with the light post Saffron redoubled her speed, it wasn't enough but luckily the light post didn't seem to work. Closing fast Saffron had to leap over the crowd which was gathering around her problematic team mate to maintain her speed. Now aiming to crash Aurum into the exposed wiring of the light post as a little bit of payback as well as pinning the troublesome boy down. Talking over the exclamations of the crowd and more than a few racial comments which Saffron ignored she spoke breathlessly from her sprint. 'Aurum, give me that fish or I'll use your face to replace that covering.' Regardless of her team mates responce Saffron will continue running forward for her crash tackle, she was due some catharsis she reasoned.

As the sickly sweet smell of banana went through the air the realization that the battery had absorbed the charge but not without damage had dawned to Topaz. She figured it had to be coming from a punctured cell unless someone had some very powerful banana scented item on them. The suspicions were confirmed with a glance to the now slightly puffed up fish. It appeared to her that a hard shake could drop the fish and detonate the battery but so long as the pole stayed still and the fish didn't fall off it should be good. She was about to relay this information to the rest of her team when she noticed that Saffron was making a full blown charge right at Aurum and by extension, the pole. Thinking fast Topaz jumped in front of Saffron bracing herself in hopes of stopping her charge into Aurum. "SAFFRON DON'T" she yelled bracing herself for what was sure to be a shitshow.

It seemed like everything was coming to a head, and an end. With his teammates consolidating into a single area with few bystanders nearby, he decided it was time to finish the job. Looking between his Scroll and directly at the plaza, he made sure he had eyes on the fish, and using his semblance, he crashed it into the ground. The fish splattered onto the ground sending some sparks and soot flying into Avery's teammates, but most of it was as one would expect, fish guts.

A smirk flashed across his face. He brought out his Scroll, zooming to take in a charming photo of his team and--

Eyes widened and bitng his lip, Avery identified another figure hit by the blast: Dorian Rothenberg, a fellow student, and infamously, someone that was to be left unmolested. Avery kept a close eye on him, watching as redness filled his face as the initial shock subsided. Dorian glanced at Aurum, Saffron, and Topaz.

"Of course, Of course it would be Aurum the delinquent and Saffron, the captain who can't even control her own comrades. Tell me because I'd really like to know: What do you have to say about this?" Dorian said, clearly restraining himself as he gestured toward his outfit which was now covered in fish guts.

"It's absolutely stunning!" Aurum cried out, imitating one of the weird art critics he saw on tv the other day. They were an odd bunch, one of whom even called a pile of dung in hay and a white cloth 'revolutionary'. Maybe he should get a job in that area if he were to be expelled. Seemed simple enough, just say the absolute opposite of what was in his mind and add a small snap of the wrist and neck for flair. "I-It's breathtaking! And not because of the near rotten fishguts lodged in my nostrils!"

Posing in a rather exagerrated manner, Aurum feigned tears in his eyes and motioned for Saffron and Topaz to make a run for it.

"Dorian, I do say, you must give me the number of your fashion designer! The mizture of guts and banana is simply revolutionary!"

Swerving out of her tackle at the last moment Saffron felt relief as she saw the fish float away from his team mate's semblance pulled it way. Stumbling back to her feet Saffron gave Aurum a harsh glare before she heard the explosion and the smell assaulted her senses. Her heart sunk, quills flattened and tears filled her eyes as another failure made itself clear, choking back a grasp Saffron turned away and shut her eyes to be alone in this moment. That was until it all got worse. Dorian Rothenburg, Saffron recognised the voice even with her eyes closed and worse still he recognised her.

Quickly drying the few tears which had spilled out her eyes with a wipe of her sleeve Saffron coughed a few times to clear her throat before speaking. She noticed Aurum's gesture to run but considering she had already been made it seemed useless. 'I'm so sorry Dorian, Aurum and I have seemed to have gotten you caught up in .... a... training session. Yea just something to do while Avery and Taylor are snowed in with assignments. I'm sure there is something I can do to make it up to you.' Saffron asked hopefully, smiling but her eyes were still red from the few tears before. Careful not to mention the other members of her team if Dorian hadn't seen them yet Saffron started to move, outwardly moving towards Dorian with a handkerchief in hand to help him clean himself but mainly to block sight lines to Avery and Taylor.

Internally Saffron was tearing herself to pieces over what she could have done better but tried desperately not to let it show, it wasn't going to help her with Dorian. Struggling to meet the new person's gaze instead Saffron tried to give Aurum a sutle gesture to calm down and simply bite the bullet here.

Topaz breathed a sigh of relief when Saffron stopped her charge and for a brief moment, it seemed like the bomb was safe and the crisis was averted. But someone couldn't just let that stand and had to ruin the moment by pulling the fish off the stupid pole and onto the ground. Topaz was quickly covered in fish guts and sulfur a smell which she noted was unlikely to get out of her clothes without some serious scrubbing and heavy duty chemicals. Hopefully, no one else in the crowd got hit or they might have to clean a lot more clothes which would take forever. While a naive thought she enjoyed it for the brief moment that it existed before a certain someone's voice broke the shocked silence. Topaz looked over to the source of the angry person only to see who else but Dorian? The person that could not be in a worse place at a worse time right now.

As Saffron began walking towards him Topaz followed hoping that perhaps that and a favor or two would be enough to avoid something bigger coming out of this."Yeah sorry, Dorian the session got a little away from us, you know how these things sometimes happen right?" She said while simultaneously brushing her hand against Lithium to making sure it didn't fall off in the kerfuffle. Ideally, he would accept the apology and move on, but so far the day had been far from ideal.

Dorian briefly glared at Aurum. "You and I both know that these sorts of things do not simply happen. Causing a public scene, in the middle of Alystra Plaza no less," Dorian sniffed, "and murdering an innocent fish. If you ask me," he brushed off some of the guts splattered to his clothes, "I'd say it was orchestrated. But I suppose that is just speculation on my part."

He took out his scroll and quickly tapped onto it, turning away in the process. "Yeah, sorry. I need a change of clothes. Don't ask, just go straight to the meeting. Alright, see you there." He turned back toward the group. "As for reparations, don't bother. There's not much you would be able to provide anyway. Besides, who knows what great surprise would await be next!" Dorian ended with feigned glee which quickly faded into slight disgust. He sighed and scanned the ground. "Why don't you start by cleaning up after yourselves?" With that, he left.

Avery could only watch from afar through his phone, and while he couldn't hear what Dorian was saying, it was pretty clear that it wasn't anything good. He stepped back from the edge of the building, unsure of what he should do. Should he stay hidden away, or should he make his way down? Avery doubted he would be able do much to change the situation, but he decided to head towards the stairs down, anyway.

Aurum wanted to throw more insults at the poor fellow but Saffron seemed to be oddly docile at the moment. Usually he'd complain about unfair treatment but Topaz also seemed to be somewhat worried. Sure Dorian was kind of a big thing around here but he also got caught in one of Aurum's pranks! That in itself was more than a victory in his book but the expressions of Saffron and Topaz begged to differ.

As much as he wanted to continue the charade and even mock Dorian for getting fish guts all over him, he himself got caught in the blast and were right at the scene of the crime along with twonof his teammates. If only the fish didnt fall when it did.

"He better bet he's gonna get another surprise, right guy...s.." Aurum proudly said, trailing off upon seeing a little pain in Saffron's expression.

Should he say sorry? Technically this wasn't a team thing and most of them even wanted to stop him. Then again Dorian did have a point in that Safdeon had no control over him. But who did? Aurum never listened to authority so it wasn't up to that pompous, fish covered, stuck-up tool tonsay who was a bad leader...right?

"Ah..Uhmm.." Aurum wanted to say something to lighten the mood but somethibg told him that he best keep quiet for now.

Flinching again as Topaz made herself known and unknowingly caught her in another lie Saffron clumsily tried to explain that away but luckily Dorian didn't seem to notice and he quickly left. Not that Saffron could blame him, as much as she hated herself for the thought she to wanted out of this mess. Not trusting herself to speak Saffron set about quickly about trying to gather up at least the chunks of rotting fish. It heavily stained her uniform, saying nothing for the smell, but Saffron worked quickly and robotically until the mess was cleaned up. A dead pan expression hid Saffron internally browbeating herself at her failure as a leader. She had encouraged Aurum saying that she would help him and when Aurum did something reckless, like of course he would, she couldn't stop it before it was too late. She hadn't even been able to curb some of Aurum's excesses or even predict them despite leading the team for three years.

Finally trusting herself to speak Saffron turned to Aurum still with tears in her eyes and replied quietly. 'If I so much hear that Dorian gets a flat tire he won't need threats, I will deal with you myself. Just because you don't ca...' Saffron stopped herself, turning away cowardly once again. That wasn't fair Saffron knew Aurum meant no harm in his pranks but it felt good to say something. Taking a few deep breaths Saffron started walking off, unable to look anyone in the eyes. 'I'm going to get in front of this, maybe if I can talk to the headmaster before Dorian does you guys might come out OK.' Saffron called back as she stormed off.

Topaz stood dazed staring at Dorian as he walked away from the plaza, turning down Saffrons offer to make up for what happened. 'What a jackass' she thought while marking him down into her shit list. The smug SOBs comments brought Saffron to the brink of tears and really that was the only reason that Topaz didn't go hunt him down. But of course, before she could do something to calm Saffron down a bit she ran off to the headmaster to try and explain things. Topaz watched silently fuming as Saffron stormed off to explain the team's actions.

"That didn't go well, gotta be honest I'm willing to further than just slash his tires....."She angrily said while trying to think up of ways to get even with Dorian that wouldn't be traceable.

"You messed up real bad today" Topaz said whipping around towards Aurum pointing an accusing finger.

" I'm going to clean up a bit and I expect you to meet me at the headmaster's office afterward. Tell Avery to go there as well."She said before walking off towards the dorms wiping Lithium clean with her sleeve. While she didn't have time for a full shower she should at least be able to get the gunk off her hair and changes clothes before getting yelled at by the headmaster, something which always ended up with a great week.

Avery made his way to the scene with haste and had a stern look hanging onto his face. As he passed by pedestrians and bystanders, he heard some of them whispering, more than likely about him and his brothers' reputations.

Despite his best efforts, Saffrom and Taylor were gone by the time he arrived, the only thing left being a down-ridden Aurum--a rare and unsavory sight. Avery glanced around at the crowd."I am deeply sorry about this, everyone. I will take care of this immediately." He shot out a hand and gripped Aurum's wrist firmly.

"We're leaving," Avery said as he dragged his brother away from Alystra Plaza.
