The Vale Region / A coincidental befriending[Closed]
« on: November 16, 2018, 09:12:23 AM »
Catalina grabs his food tray and proceeds towards one of the tables. He can hear people whispering. Whispering about him, his perfect match against poor Michael. It's not all positive; It's merely a sniper staring down a relatively slow-moving tank, after all. That being said it did nothing to deduct from the fact that Cat just accomplished one of the great feats in the Vytal Festival tournament, although not as impressive as winning the entire thing.

From his seat he a girl catches his eyes. Not because he finds her attractive, em, especially attractive, but because he recognized her as one of the other competitors. What does she use? A lever-action sniper and a hammer. Interesting, isn't that mostly the same as Take That!? What's her Semblance? Lassos, I could make one of those. In fact, doesn't she just had their match? Yeah, she won, 92% to... oh. Blair forfeited. What was our team leader thinking? Wait, didn't I... Yes. Yes, yes I did. That's incredible. How can we be so similar without meeting once?

Now that he gets intrigued, and seeing her not having a seat, Catalina waved his hand signaling her to sit with him.

Beacon Academy / Company and Combat [Closed - Azure Blair]
« on: September 30, 2018, 11:53:08 AM »
In front of Catalina Glenn stood Azure Blair, the latest student resulting from the seemingly year-round enrollment procedure. The place is Beacon's Auditorium and they're specifically here instead of passing through it, so what would they be doing should be obvious, even to a mostly new student like Azure here.

"Ready when you are." While Catalina is no blood knight, he does need to fight and accustom himself to a larger variety of opponents if he were to challenge him. And so here stood him initiating Azure, thinking it as a mutually beneficial endeavor.

Combat stats:
Aura: 100% [#this is your Aura meter just like how it is in the show. It starts at 100% no matter how tough your Aura is and for the sake of this match 15% is the cutoff for determining the winner.]
Ammo for Take That!: 1 magazine of piercing rounds loaded/1 magazine of piercing rounds/1 magazine of explosive rounds/5 shocking rounds/5 heating rounds/1 freezing round [#this is where you put ammo for your guns, if any.]
Dust: 100% Fire/100% Earth/100% Lightning/100% Ice [#this is where you put you Dust stock. Types and amount vary.]
Semblance: 100% [#Put any variation of semblance 'mana' here.]

Action:
Readying [#Sum your actions, their possible effects and any damage numbers in Aura percent here.]

Beacon Academy / The world and the people in it[open]
« on: August 30, 2018, 01:01:28 AM »
Catalina Glenn was feeling like taking a break from training with Zabar in mind and improve his knowledge base a bit today. Not about military theory and such which is immediately useful for a huntsman, but something deeper, something he enjoys thinking about.
Philosophies, economic theories, fictional worlds; that's where his mind wanders the most. And where else better to go than Beacon library for those? With some luck, he might even find people willing to talk about them in depth.
So with that, Cat entered the library and head straight into the relevant sections, hoping he'd find something- or someone- interesting.

At the stadium of Beacon Academy it is a busy day. The seats are full of citizens as well as students, some of them even selling homemade snacks to make a quick Lien. Outside the entrance are a series of signposts pointing a path to the stadium. Inside is two qualified students preparing to fight it out to boost hype, have an entertaining fight and hoping to increase the turnout in the matches to come.

Catalina Glenn, the quarter-finalist last tournament, Stands on one side. He presents himself in a fighting stance, one like he is going for hand to hand combat but holding his trusted sniper instead, pointing forward but not at his competitor, Smokey Emberstone.

(A coin flip decided Smokey gets the first post. The arena size is that of the school stadium in the show. This is essentially how fights in the last tournament go, although the opening posts are quite more detailed than this courtesy of Gus. Those who missed the last can join this one at plot zone!)

Catalina Glenn went down to the Beacon stadium and started looking for a sparring partner. Experiences told him someone will likely be already there waiting, but today apparently the implication of it comes true instead: He is the one already there waiting for a partner. Time to sit and wait I suppose.

With that Cat sat down, opened his scroll, and started a game... a video of Zabar Aga's moves in the Grand Finale of the Vytal Festival Tournament with professor's commentaries. Dang it. Catalina had caught himself doing this for a while now. Going to shooter range instead of the gym, polishing tactics assignments when he's supposed to be searching for set pieces against hand to hand fighters, anything qualifying as work that isn't helping his mid-long term objective: Having a go at and beating Zabar. Many want to do it for the title and fame, but Cat had a personal objective. Really. It'll be for a... friend.

Come to think of it, do Nathan Eau consider him a friend? Cata was skeptical about the public outcry after Gray's incident and earned the slight ire of a few of his friends because he misspoke at his room, but most importantly he was suspicious at Jack because he seemed to be seizing this opportunity to his own advantage. So when he was fighting Catalina anticipated positively about him and he delivered. A skilled, friendly and considerate huntsman-in-training. It is natural to respect him out of sportsmanship, right? Or maybe there's some rationalizing going on?

With that drift of mind, the video already played halfway and the more important parts of the match were passed. Cat turned the video back to the beginning and refocused, waiting for someone's arrival.

Species and Gender: Female Human

Symbol: A golden dragon in a background of sky and sea.
Spoiler: ShowHide

Occupation: Beacon graduate Huntress

Dragon theme: A certain OST from the Chinese Paladin by Brother Hung(apparently)
Moment of Awesome: Night Witches by Sabaton
Sad: Among the poor - Europa Universalis IV OST by Andreas Waldetoft

Appearance: Siu mostly sports her favorite outfit in day-to-day activities and sparring: Silk robe with big, long sleeves which extends to her knees with red lining over a usual shirt usually with white as the primary color, along with a lime green skirt and tight-high white socks up to the middle of her thigh with 5 cm of Zettai Ryouiki in addition to black short under and a flat shoe.
If practicality was demanded, she dons a much simpler wear in the form of a plain navy colored tunic with cuffed sleeves and a belt and several pouches, similar to that of a nomadic horse archer, instead of the robe, skirt and stocking, and a pair of sneakers instead of shoes.
In both normal, school uniform(when she was at school) and field if possible she wears a headset that both act as a wireless headphone and a transmit-receiver aid for her semblance. She has a mild case of myopia which translates to a pair of glasses normally and adjusted goggles in the field.

With a fairly unnotable height of 165 cm and weight of 63 kg, she has an average body with an undeniable but unassuming body curve. She bears a yellow skin and has a mostly round face with a pair of rather big grey eye and silvery hair reaching down to chest level. Siu is left-handed and has a set of tools designed for her dexterity.

History: Sius father is an archeologist working in a site near his village, one just outside Vale close enough such that they can mobilize a team on an airship to help in time when occasionally the hired huntsman cant stop them before they start damaging the village. Her mother, a researcher in an Atlas-Vale exchange program on the Atlesian side, met him at a conference about newly recovered items from his site. When they married she moved there and set up a station for first-hand process and analysis after any discoveries. When she was pregnant with Siu, they had a rather large discovery with a multitude of excavated texts and artwork. They turn out to be teaching material including a picture dictionary and textbooks of mathematics and history. With their initial deciphered texts she was named Ceong, which was believed to mean soar. The initial discovery gained some attention in the field, but they felt there's more. They don't know what it is but they feel it hinted at something deeper and wider. Maybe they are connected with other known or unknown ancient cultures. This quickly became the goal of the couple, to find and tell the full story of these artifacts.

Thus it was under an atmosphere of exploration and analysis of the past that Siu was raised. Looking at her parents work and asking them questions quickly became her favorite pastime. When one day she asks what are they doing archaeology for she got this:
Quote
We archaeologist excavates for learning the past both by itself and from which, discovering exotic knowledge to our and the public's fascination, but most in importantly doing them justice. People don't die when they're killed, it's when they're forgotten. In doing our work, if we can't immortalize those who have failed the test of time, we might at least rescue them from and stave them off against the threat of it for as long as we could.
In a spark of kid genius, Siu proclaimed "If dad and mom work to discover and protect the past, I'll be a huntress to do the same to the present!"
They're taken aback by her unusually quick thinking for her age and a sudden set of life goal, but they didn't outright oppose it, trying to show instead of tell and letting her form her opinion herself.
They told tales, shown footages and media depictions of huntsmen operating at their full glory... and horror. Choosing the most realistic portrayals possible, the little girl is exposed to moments alternating between the likes of a huntsman singlehandedly wipes out 100 Beowolves and an utterly exhausted one implicitly getting mauled in half by an Ursa Major, picking off a horde of Creeps from 300 meters as the sniper witnessed her best friend being overrun and slowly chomped to his death with a scream almost audible from that distance, equally gory and glory with nothing but the most needlessly cruel scenes hidden from her. She had expectedly as much fangirling as shivering but forced herself to watch because she would need to accept all of it if she were to genuinely choose and stay on the path of a huntress. After much longer than she initially thought she reaffirmed herself that she wanted to become a huntress and enrolled in Signal.

In Signal unlike some others who needed time to find their calling she immediately chose to drill her marksmanship, as a result of being scared of fighting closely.  Those footages would have definitely traumatized her if not for her parent comforting her and answering each and every question she had as well as knowing when and what to show her. Either hit-and-run or run and gun did her well, but she had a feeling that she couldn't keep doing that forever. She's right.

On one mission of simple extermination they were doing as well as usual until a particularly large horde came and she fell back more than in their regular responses to fire. While they slaughtered them as just before without issue, they argued if she falling back would be appropriate in terms of mentality and effect which lured an Ursa Major towards them. Not in effective range of attacking it, she can only watch her teammates put up a fight until their Aura broke while she is frantically running to them, but it takes one more good hit to finish it off. When the supervising professor moved in for the finishing blow he saw instead two toy planes crashing into the Grimm and killing it in a pretty firework show.

The moral that came with the semblance is that while she won't (and can't by now) get close and deal with issues and Grimm head first, she can still do the same things at a safe distance remotely and just as precisely, with the added benefit of getting a bigger picture of the events. This translated in day-to-day life to someone who would actually read the manual when getting a new scroll and a tendency to ask for directions first trying to clearly formulate the act before working which brought varying degrees of success. As for things that can't be learned beforehand which is usually only her semblance, she tends to explore the subject bit by bit at first and use it more liberally only when she thinks she has a deep enough understanding of it. Usually, this means her academic subjects improve more and faster than her melee combat because she takes her time formulating the stances or set pieces more than actually practicing them, although they're still passable and her other abilities easily admit her into Beacon. It is where she specialized as the coordinator, feeding information and maneuvering teammates and teams into executing plans made by the local tactician.

As a result of this development choice, Beacon Academy has to be the middleman in helping her and Vale establish an agreement in her usage of constructed planes as well as finding her a flight instructor to get her to properly fly the planes. She made a few friends in the Vale Airforce when some of them decided to test their skills against smaller targets and invited her over to a training airstrip.

By the time the soaring girl graduated Beacon, she had learned a customized version of air combat doctrine, the construction and flight of warplanes with different roles, upgraded her gun, found herself a few friends aside from her teammates and stomached a slew of academic knowledge most in history. Her first objective is to save up enough Lien and get a permit to work in Mistral where she hopes might found site she can tell her parents about, of which the first step is to find a group that is can travel with her or maybe convince her team to 'visit' Mistral together.

Personality: Siu is naturally curious. If you tell her something new, chances are she would want to know more about it. But If she ever asks "what is this thing", instead of "is it edible" or "can I play with it", her next sentence would more likely be "Where can I learn about it". If she decides something is interesting then expect her to read about it on and off for the next month or so. When faced with a task, her favorite approach is to first watch it from outside, get an idea of the pattern and the core of the problem then solve it in one fell swoop. This kind of curiosity usually doesn't kill the cat, and her tendency to explore the big picture does give her a better understanding of most issues, particularly more subjective ones. This way of thinking isn't without its downfalls, however. After the month or so of being interested in a new subject, she would have likely gained only a less than mediocre level of expertise it and then either never be able to apply it or just forget she knew about it unless reminded of. And woe betides if she finds one of her course subjects uninteresting. There are many problems that require more than just observation and pattern recognition, or that its complexity is out of her league. When faced with such problem that requires hands-on solving, she would still obsessively stares at the problem until she has no less than a detailed understanding of the issue, even though just working on it could have been much faster.

Aura and Semblance: Siu's Aura is a shade similar to Sky Blue and is of above average strength.

She named her semblance "Dragon Palm". It allows her to create miniature Dragons and control them.
Dragons look like this but with blood and flesh absent; they dissolve into nothingness when their Aura depletes. They are about the 10 centimeters long and when they fly they make noises like a toy helicopter of a similar size. Their maximum range is 500 meters from Siu and she can have up to 10 Dragons summoned at once. The Dragons feed footages from themselves to the mind of Siu similar to a CCTV.

Dragons draw their integrity from a pool of Aura that is given when they are created, a process as simple as willing them into existence. In general, 1% of Siu's Aura invested translate to 3% equivalent of Durability. The Dragons can fly up to 30 seconds, thrusting or hovering. Their cruising speed is about as fast as Siu herself without carrying anything and can generate thrust from any point of their body in any direction. When a Dragon comes into contact with Siu(any contact works, crashing or landing included) she can pump more Aura into them and the timer resets.

The Dragons can breath fireballs but must take some time to be fed with dust, and some more when she rearm and/or refuels. Siu usually carries one liter of fire Dust on her subdivided into 200 units of 5 cubic centimeters. They can be armed on the Dragons as machines guns. One unit of Dust translates to roughly 30 seconds of firing. Their fireballs are rather weak because of their small size, being as powerful as pistols and can kill Beowolves and Creeps as normal ones do.
Given her semblance, it's natural that the airspace management of Vale gets worried so they reached out to Beacon and worked out an arrangement for usage of her semblance in city limits. Simply put if Siu were to use her semblance in an urban area she is subject to laws of drones usage and must maintain frequent communication with the closest air control tower.

There is a limit break of her semblance activated with an extra large dose (at least 70% as of graduation) of Aura being used to conjure Cranes at once when a gigantic dragon comes out instead. It is armed to the teeth(literally), with rapid-fire eye beams and a fireblast that is as strong as a howitzer and to top it off, homing fireball attacks that is even more destructive. Siu likes to stylize its summoning with dramatic arms flailing and gesture making even though they have no effect on the actual creation of the dragon, only that she has to wave her arms around to assist in maneuvering the dragon to sweep or to point its weaponry at the direction of enemies. This form can be sustained for 3 minutes. Reference videos 1(at 1:38 to 1:49), 2(at 0:17 to 0:24). She nicknames it 'Fung' which her parents believed to mean 'wind' or 'peak' depending on the written character.
Of course, such a powerful surge comes with an equally tremendous drawback beyond just the Aura consumption. Siu have to focus all her mind on controlling the dragon or it will collapse on its own, which means
  • She has next to no awareness of her surroundings and can barely dodge mundanely thrown projectiles;
  • She can't really hold anything, even her weapons; and
  • Movements would be reduced to blindly wander in a general direction with again no situational awareness.
She can see and sense through her dragon, but with almost no movement options it wouldn't be much of any use.
Finally, if the dragon happens to end for any other reasons than timing out(attempts to 'land' the dragon so far have been a failure), she would lose her ability to cast her semblance for 24 hours cutting to 'just' 8 with timeouts and if it is broken by force in particular, then she would also pass out for 30 minutes. And just to nail that she won't be using it except when definitely necessary, Vale requires her to file a vocal report if she uses it at all, and upgrades it into a written one, and one that's detailed and long at that, if she finds herself using the equivalent of a Bullhead in a city.

Combat Behavior: Siu acts like an actual aircraft carrier would in a navy. She stays at the furthest back of a team(which outside of occasionally her Beacon team she do not have by herself), launching planes to gather intelligence and provide fire support from well out of most enemy's range to do her any harm. She then feeds information to her teammates effectively sharing with them a bird's eye view over the battlefield giving them a rarely matched advantage. Bombardment can be either suppressive or played as a shock factor, giving the team a considerable range of option to crack the objective with.
But just like a carrier, she is not very well off if she's caught in combat at her own. She will try to first lure the threat away with bombers and fighter strafes, then unload her machine gun into them coupled with head-on dive bombs to push them back, and withdraw(abandoning the box she probably set down in the process because of the hindrance) with most of her effort preferring that over summoning Fung to drive them away unless in very dire circumstances, and fighting in melee is basically a non-option because if somebody is threatening her directly then they would be almost always superior at close ranges.
Here's a breakdown of her advantages and disadvantages in combat:

+Fogbuster recon
+Above average aura strength
+Fast fighting speed
+Rather attentive and analytic

=Average marksmanship and strength
=Left handed

-Very bad at all forms of melee including polearms, medium and short-range weapons, hand-to-hand and even gun katas
-Slow travel speed

WEAPON

Name: Point Defense

Primary Form: A black light machine gun that fires at about 80 RPM when in indefinitely sustained fire, and going any faster for longer periods of time risks shortening the lifespan of its mechanisms. There is one faster setting at 160 RPM which is reserved for close emergencies, and 600 RPM is the mechanical loading speed of the mechanism. It is fed by a belt stored in a box, having a maximum capacity of 500 rounds but she will bring extra when on long missions. There are also 10 detachable magazines on her each carrying 50 rounds. It comes with a bipod but can also be handheld. It's powerful enough to mow down packs Beowolves with relative ease but takes more effort to down an Ursa or a Boarbatusk, and just mostly harmlessly bounces off Deathstalkers.

Dust Functions: Kinetic Dust acts as propellent in the gun's cartridges.

History: Siu brought it in parts in the form of an automatic rifle then assembled it herself to technically pass off as a made weapon for Signal requirements. When she graduated into Beacon she found a shop and had its firing and feeding mechanisms modified into what it is right now.

Name: Barricades

Usage: They are a bundle of 10 cuboid blocks with dimension 1m long x 10cm width x 10cm thick. At push of a button, they transform into a cross-shaped barricade and a spike extends to bolt itself into the ground, and the spikes on top provide a place to insert an adjustable plate for her to put Point Defense on.

History: She picked those up after graduation to compensate for her lack of a team and increase her personal defense.

Eventually, she reaches a new stage of her semblance when she was in her third year. In one attempt to soften a young Goliath before her melee teammates move in and finish it, a huge intense wave of bomber using a large cut of her aura was being created but what conjured instead was a shining golden dragon tearing right through the Grimm with eye blasts followed by several fireballs turning it into ludicrous gibs. Then Siu immediately fainted of the exhaustion and drain of her entire aura pool. The weekends of next month or so consists of Siu trying to surpass the aura usage and still summon the dragon then fainting away and having to spend the Sunday resting.

By the time the soaring girl graduated Beacon, she had learned a customized version of air combat doctrine, the construction and flight of warplanes with different roles, the second form of her semblance which she can finally use without passing out immediately afterwards, upgraded her gun, found herself a few friends aside from her teammates and stomached a slew of academic knowledge most in history. Her first objective is to save up enough Lien and get a permit to work in Mistral where she hopes might found site she can tell her parents about, of which the first step is to find a group that is can travel with her or maybe convince her team to 'visit' Mistral together.

Aura and Semblance: Siu's Aura is a shade similar to Sky Blue and is of above average strength.

She named her semblance "Flying Cranes". It allows her to create warplanes out of Aura and control them.
Planes created can receive simple instruction such as "recon", "escort" or "bombard" but more complex maneuvers such as in a forest or in dogfights usually have to have Siu take control directly to be most effective. Usually at controlling around 5 fighters in a dogfight she will have to put her full attention to them and have no awareness of her own surroundings.
Aura constitutes the structure and fuel of the planes but they're armed with dust if possible. To standardize the dust usage she had divided her dust into units of 5 cubic centimeters and carries one liter of those Dust on her typically. Their insides are a black box as far as mechanisms go but external damages are still possible, though it should be noted that created planes are noticeably tougher than just Aura defenses on her body.

Damages dealt to the aircraft take away from its Aura integrity, and they consume fuel in the form of Aura like a real airplane would, by loading them on the plane and burning it as it goes. Planes can be "landed" on Siu to maintenance. Just crashing into her works fine but Siu likes to outstretch her palm and let planes slide towards her shoulder.
When a plane "lands" on her they will be stored inside her Aura, who would then either fix, refuel and/or rearm them, or scrap them and refund their remaining Aura.
A list of standard planes she uses. Numbers subject to balance.: ShowHide

Reconnaissance planes: Costs 1% Aura to create and can only last as long as that in a fight. Passively and directly feed images into Siu's mind. Cruises at around 100 meters per second and can turn perfectly fine at that speed. It has a range of 2 km and refueling costs 0.25% Aura.

Fighters: Costs 5% Aura to make and is as durable as the equivalent of 15%. Equipped with a machine gun that does lighter but more continuous damage per second. Since there are no g-force constraints, it can fly and fight at close to cruising speed, keeping up with naturally speedier huntsmen when fighting. Costs 1 unit of dust to arm. Its range is 500 meters and refueling costs 1% Aura.

Bombers: Costs 7.5% Aura, of which 0.5% each is used as guidance casing of the bombs, and is as tough as 10%. Drops up to 5 bombs guided by recon planes and deals damage that is a nontrivial threat even to herself. They are usually level bombers so they have a lower maneuverability, not being able to avoid terrain in a forest while at a cruising speed that match only Beacon first years. Costs 2 units of Dust to arm per bomb. Its range is 300 meters and refueling costs 2% Aura.

Transports: Costs 10% Aura. This aircraft is significantly larger than at almost 1 meter long compared to others which are only around 30cm or less. It can carry loads as big and heavy as a rock the size of Siu's palm. They are the least nimble of the bunch, having a straight and turning speed above natural humans but below even a small nevermore. Its range is 1 km and refueling costs 5% Aura.

There is a limit break of her semblance activated with an extra large dose (at least 70% as of graduation) of Aura being used to conjure aircraft at once, when a gigantic dragon comes out instead.
Siu have to focus with all her mind into controlling the dragon or it will collapse on its own, which means
  • She has next to no awareness of her surroundings and can barely dodge mundanely thrown projectiles;

+Useful support and offensive semblance
+Fogbuster recon
+An incredibly powerful second form
+Above average aura strength
+Fast fighting speed
+Rather attentive and analytic

=Average marksmanship and strength
=Left handed

-Very bad at all forms of melee including polearms, medium and short-range weapons, hand-to-hand and even gun katas
-Slow travel speed
-Fung comes with an exorbitant price

WEAPON

Name: Point Defense

Primary Form: A black light machine gun that fires at about 80 RPM when in sustained fire. It is fed by a belt in a 0.5mx0.5mx0.5m box magazine. There are also a number of detachable magazines on her each carrying 50 rounds. It comes with a bipod but can also be handheld.

AMA Section / What badass boast/creed does your character have?
« on: February 06, 2018, 09:43:05 AM »
When times come for the heroic second wind, the last stand for a village about to be overrun by Grimm, or just having something they live by as their guidance, your character will deliver lines so awesome that can only be followed by their massive amounts of asskicking or rivaled by one of your opponents'.

What is it for your characters? Is it from a work they(you) have read or created? Something they thought of themselves? Or skip straight for the combat(or mix and match for the confusion fu)?
Doubles as a source of generic ones for all to pilgariselearn and draw ideas from.

I'll go first:

Catalina:
People are born equal. Egalitarians keep it so.
Other's semblance is an extension of their personalities. Mine is a part of my body.
I am the carrier of my soul. Semblance is my body and aura is my blood. (Obviously ripped off from his consumed media)

Infrared:
She ends up trying to deconstruct a bunch of related tropes.: ShowHide
Oh, this is the part where I give a badass boast? You see, people love these. It's cool as all hell, it's moralizing to you and demoralizing to your enemy. Probably because they're so awe-inspiring and believing in them drives you to make it happen, or makes it happen by itself, throwing away other precious consideration in the process, sometimes even logic.
You can also call that fanaticism. It does grant you bigger bonus for a reason, but it could also make you self-righteous and zealous. If they have a different idea than you and they think they're right, they're going to resist your attempts to convince them otherwise and you're both gonna get frustrated. What do you do now, tell them over and over again until they believe? Its the least forceful way, but they could realize youre repeating your argument ad nauseam and reject it. What now, beat some sense into them? They'll just call you a devil and reaffirm your 'evil' intentions. Now its even harder to get them to listen, especially after all the wrongs youve done to them.
And no, get off my speech with your notion that moral correctness and power are correlated. They're simply not; ask your local moral philosophers at your own peril. If I beat you handily, that's because I'm better at fighting you than you do me and nothing else. Please do not think otherwise even if I disapprove of your actions. Ideas transcend mortality. We don't need another bland, unilateral society.
I remember one cool women said "if you life it, I can kill it, even if god it is", murmurs deliberately paraphrased to rhyme, and she can back that up quite well. But why god? It's not like there's anything notable for them to favorably compare to. They rarely have feats and the ones they do are really vague, and everything else are character statements. Who would deploy troops with like, 1 atk because the flavor text said that they can incinerate enemies into nothingness and consign a billion souls to oblivion?
Moreover they're either petty enough to interfere with human affairs or ignorant enough not to... wait that was a terrible double stan... no, goalpost moving. I retract that statement. But the point still stands, just not on the same god. But it gets worse: most of them are vengeful or jealous enough to to not stand for the take that and try to get you back for it. You might even get IRL people hot on your trails for it! So blasphemous boasts are bottom line not worth it even if you can back it up.
You also will inevitably have to choose between your creed and doing whats right. And if you choose the creed, you will have to deal with preventing yourself from becoming a knight templar. Choose wisely. Id rather not screw my mind with all this.

Sheer:
It's party time! And the grand event is a great plan setting into motion and us looking all awesome!
When others inspirational teammate gives them strength figuratively, I give it literally along with aura and speed!
Revised: The power of love, the power of friendship, these are ideal people draw strength from. I think that makes me the patron saint of it then!

Bring it everyone!

Edit: Damn the overshadowing Time to up hopefully a bit.
People like you are common. They think people who think differently than themselves are stupid. Well some of them are literally about being smart so they kinda get a pass. Some of you think the others are the unenlightened, others think they deserve hell for what they believe or dont. But asserting your view ad nauseam is not really a valid argument, and if you do ask me I would think Ive seen hell.
Acutally lets not drag this any longer. It comes down to this: Im not going to beat senses into you, Im going to change your view. After making sure youre not harming anyone anymore.

Note that, and that, and that... Alright, that's the clips for today.
Catalina Glenn switches off the computer, closes his eyes to reimagine Zabar's movements, and let out a breathe. He told them. His teammates and other friends. He will challenge Zabar Aga, the 40th Vytal Festival tournament, year 1 individual bracket, champion. But theres a few problems. Would it be an official challenge, or a sparring match while on a visit? When would both of them have time? In either schools, or ideally the Amity Colosseum? How can Cat hope to win? Most importantly, would Zabar and/or Shade even accept it?

All those thoughts was temporarily put on hold as he changed into his blue T-shirt with a round shield in the center and trousers that reaches to his ankles, with his ammo box strapped on his back. This is sparring time.

Arriving at the arena of the school he made a few practice swings with Take That!, transforms and turns it around, and fires a blank round. He practice this set piece a few times, then another with quick swings, then his semblance. The usual spikes, blades plus hands, and his secret move that he thought as necessary to hide and beat Zabar at the last moment. He hoped he had thought of that sooner so he could have advanced in the tournament. But maybe it was not so bad, since he made a friend in his loss.

Now it's really sparring time. He stood there and stared at the entrance, hoping to challenge whoever comes through.

After the events of the Vytal Festival tournament Catalina planned to challenge Zabar Aga to a match for his friend made in combat and the other finalist, Nathan Eau, although he did not made any official statements and only his teammates, some teachers and friends knows about this. He is finding people to fight against to get some extra training in, plus reviewing his own weakness and ways to either avoid straining them or remedy it.

I've been here for a bit over a year now, and I've planned to post this on my year anniversary on this site but lost track.
So, you guys are awesome, and friendly, and delightful to RP with, I really wanted to say thanks.
I'm still proud of Cat vs Nathan.
I don't know where did I got those downvotes, maybe I broke rules or was not roleplaying according to character?
All in all I'm SO happy to have found here. Thank you.

So a bunch of students in the cafeteria were having lunch and talking about food when durian comes up as someone's favorite food. The nature of the food provoked many people, all strongly stating their opinion. Some first year, with a sparring lesson just an hour after the lunch, decided to fight to defend their favorite food(or lack thereof).

CHARACTER

Name: Sheer Gold

Age: 18, born Klever 14th

Species and Gender: Human Male

Symbol:
Spoiler: ShowHide

Occupation: 2nd year Beacon student

Appearance: He is 155 cm tall and weight about 65 kg. His skin is akin to slightly dark Asians IRL, and his face constitutes of slightly small golden eyes, a small nose and a mouth just wider than one of his eye. He has a simple, short black hair on his head. He usually wears a red jacket, aquamarine jeans, a backpack and a red hat. His scroll is also red. The red hat is also worn over his school uniform.
In combat, his clothes is thicker and had long sleeves. This is the same as his clothing in winter, except he just put on a warm extra jacket. His voice have about the same average pitch amd volume as students of his age.

History: Smear was born in the city of Vale, very close to the academy. In very early days of his life, he played toys and learned basic things just like any other children, with the notable part being there's no preschool education which leads to his relaxed attitude. He grew up watching students moving in and huntsman moving out of the school, but his interest in becoming a huntsman only came when he watched the Vytal festival tournament when he's 8. One player in particular he liked, which beats her opponent simply by hitting hard and fast. She didn't win due to an opponent tricking her to get her ringed out, but Smear thought if he became a huntsman he could do the same and be the one who trick others. With that in mind, he enrolled in Signal using the years between the tournament and Signal age training in running and building strength which turns out he had a talent in them too, while also learning the basics of tactics.
He did well in what he have trained for, speed, strength and tactical knowledge, but the fields he haven't, he barely hung on. His combat skill is left untouched in theses years, and he isn't exactly quick to pick it up. He can't hit a man-sized target with a majority of the pellets at 10 meters with his shotgun while maintaining anywhere close to respectable fire rate, and even the teachers jokes about how he would be used for target practice by some random evil overlord. While he can hit hard and fast in a fight, he is basically doomed if he's restricted. And he neither have a melee weapon nor any experience on them. This combined with the discovery of his semblance cemented his support role. By the end of Signal, he has further specialized in his roles and advantages and is probably a year behind on the weak ones.
He was accepted into Beacon by being lucky enough not having to strain his weakness, and is considered one of the best supports and tacticians for the year, but now he got so horribly defeated in hand to hand and melee combat he almost thought of being absent to all the lessons. He was warned that he would not be able to advance anymore if he can't either improve or find a reliable way around his weakness in the beginning of his 2nd year.

Personality: He is relaxed and mostly cheery on day to day life, and spends his time to play board games and computer games when not training. He likes to get his friend involved in whatever he's doing. He is much happier if he is seen along with his friends, but he relies on others to do most of the things. In return(he thinks), he would gladly help friends in need like giving most of his aura to a friend for his mission and not take any that day, or lending his Lien for things as expensive as a new scroll. This could usually be done to a dangerous extent like leaving him without food money, or lending his aura when there's a mission hours after his friends' estimated time to return.  He doesn't dislike people holding different opinion than himself or people who he sees as rivals. What he does dislike however is sore losers (regardless of who they lost to), and he had records of immediately challenging them at the first available moment with varying degrees of victory and loss. He is a clear supporter of Faunas rights and would usually speak up for the topic, but he just wished white fang will turn back to their more peaceful side.

Aura and Semblance: His aura is red-colored. His aura is tested to be extra vulnerable to dust taking about twice the damage compared to someone of the same aura amount.
His semblance is Baton Pass. It allow Him to transfer Aura, strength and speed to one or more team members. It activates when both parties is in touch and they have agreed on what and how much to transfer and can adjust or end when they are in touch again and agrees so. It would also end when one party is unconscious, then the transferred stats, even aura as his capacity in aura is given along with, will be vanished and needs a week to recover. It lasts 12 hours and is reset whenever His weakness for dust Transferring usually takes longer than ten seconds even when he decides to give almost all of his strength, aura and speed. According to him, when trying to go past his remaining speed or strength, it feels like something is pushing against it preventing him from doing so. The semblance can also be used to provide buff to more than one person at the same time but the given amount of aura/strength/speed is conserved. The transferred aura does not suffer the weakness of his aura.

Combat Behavior: He calls himself a fast bulky physical support. Because of his semblance he often forgo battling himself and give his aura, speed and strength to his teammate and let them do the heavy working. If he has to fight himself, he will try to kite and do quick approaches and heavy punches or point blank shotgun blasts to quickly sweep down enemies. He also tends to plan before attacking based on his team, but those plans usually either leave himself open to attacks or need a guard to keep him safe, And they mostly consists of timing an attack and launching a new one when the enemies think it's done, or attacking from different angles at once, although he does well in other context too.
His raw power would be comparable to:
  • Capable of keeping up with non-sudden burst speedster of the same year before semblance boost in speed and fight at that speed
  • Hit softer than dedicated hard hitters but noticeably above average
  • Can take a few more hits than average students and take one or two more from dedicated hitters
His biggest vulnerability is his lack of skill and technique. His usage of his weapon is brutally simple: Get close, blast the enemy, and make a U-turn. This is easily predictable and if the enemy keep his range, he can't reliably hit targets beyond 10 meters despite the weapon being still very effective at that range. In melee, his is also not skilled and can be forced into a situation where his strength and speed can not be used in its fullest extent. And even knowing this weakness he doesn't spend much time training in these fields, instead training in raw power and relying on speedblitzing and overpowering his opponent.  He also do not carry dust for usages other than ammo, which limits his offensive option and other utilities.
After careful diagnosis it was found that some form of disability hampers his ability to form muscle memory, which means he would have a hard time improving his skills even if he dedicated his time to train in them.

+Good Support semblance and the stats to back it up
+Fast speed
+Above average strength
+Above average aura
+Use "nasty" plots to plan attacks

-Strong, but VERY unskilled, on marksmanship, melee and hand to hand combat and will have a hard time learning
-No dust usage except dust propelled bullets
-Dust is super effective against him

WEAPON

Name: Focus Blast

Primary Form: A single barrel shotgun colored in pure red. It has the barrel length of about 50 cm and is semi-automatic. He brings 10 cartridges each with 5 rounds with him in combat, and one cartridge with extra-powerful rounds in them.

Dust Functions: Dust is used to fire the pellets. For every trigger pull 9 pellets is shot with a spread of approximately 10 cm radius for every 5 meters of traveled length. It is high powered enough to one hit kill most common, non major/alpha Grimm, and those can usually be killed with a close headshot too. For even more power shots with much more dust content is used, able to punch through armors of a boarbatusk or even a death stalker at close to point blank. This more powerful round however creates recoil that takes out about 5 percent of his aura and pushes him back about one step.

History: It is originally forged at his time at Signal and is replaced part by part during his time in Becaon until it looked like a completely new bought gun. He would rather not think about the "ship of Theseus" problem of his gun.

Whatever, ask away.
