CHARACTER

Name:
Anton Ua Duibhne

Age:
17

Species and Gender:
Male Human

Symbol:
A black flaming torch encased in an almost complete circle, with a gap either side of the base of the torch.

Occupation:
Beacon First Year

Appearance:
Anton is one of those men who appears more beautiful than handsome, with softer and more delicate features than one might typically expect on a man of his age, though it's hard to truly tell whether his good looks are natural or if they're simply perceived as such due to his semblance, and he's really quite average. Anton has an average height for his age at 5'9 and weighs around 200lbs due to how frequently he works out. His tousled hair is the colour of honey, and is of a medium length, while his eyes are a dark blue/grey colour, depending on how the light falls on it. His skin is more tanned than the average person from Atlas, though not by much, and he has a couple of small scars on his fingers from tinkering with his weapon.

Anton retains his class and wealth when it comes to clothing, preferring to wear three piece suits at all times, and only abandoning the waistcoat and tie for combat scenarios. He commonly wears black, grey and blue suits, but has a soft spot for red that he tends to save for special occasions. He dresses for the day, and isn't the type to ritualistically stick to one outfit like others. His combat gear, which is basically a red two piece suit that was loosed at the seams to provide the maximum possible mobility for Anton, is the most obvious sign of his background, as anyone with a lick of sense would tell you not to wear a suit to battle. That won't stop him though.

History:
The third born child of Ciarán and Éabha Ua Duibhne, a political family with more ambition than actual human decency, Anton was never going to have a normal life. None of their children were, in fact, as they were born out of need and greed rather than love. The eldest, Fiona, was expected to continue the political legacy of her father, while Nicholas was supposed to follow his mother's path and become a businessman of some manner. Anton, meanwhile, was singled out by bad luck to be the biggest symbol of altruism the Ua Duibhne family could create: that of a Huntsman, ready to give his life for the people, despite the fact that most of the people who he would end up helping would, most likely, be the sort of poor and racially inferior undesirables that the family looked upon in distaste. An almost dramatic irony that leaves a bitter taste in Anton's mouth, especially since his younger sister, Emma, the luckiest of the bunch if truth be told, was sent to an art school to become a famous artist. Still, the children were raised to be entirely without rebellion, to the best that can be achieved anyway, so Anton accepted his role in life. He didn't really know anything different.

His day to day life mostly consisted of schooling, formal events were he and his siblings were dressed nice and told to say nothing but polite pleasantries and a private education by a retired Huntsman so as to provide Anton with every edge that could be thought of by his parents. He learned how to dissect poetry, battle plans and people's motives in equal measure. Anton would describe his life as utterly boring, with things that could be considered truly exciting few and far between, and the only people he could do anything interesting with were his siblings, on the rare occasions they were free, and some of the more lax servants at his home. The only times he saw any other people his own age was when he was brought to an event, and even then they weren't allowed to play together. If anything, his fondest memory was the day he was sent to begin his education at Atlas, as he finally developed a level of freedom from his parents.

It didn't last, though. During his few years there, about half the typical length of an Atlas education, he made friends with a few people, as people tend to do. The problem, though, was that his father didn't approve of them, due to either their appearance, their apparent lack of class or ambition, or in one case, the girl being the daughter of a political rival. So, in an effort to control the shape of Anton's development, Ciarán had him transferred to Beacon as a birthday "present", stating that it would be a great experience for him. Anton, as always, smiled and put up with this, and is now waiting for term to begin, so he can once again get that taste of freedom he felt at Atlas.

Personality:
Anton is the model of a perfect child, humble, quiet and complimentary. He was raised as a stereotypical rich child, taught to be quiet unless spoken to and to always by polite to others, regardless of his personal feelings on them. Effectively, he, like his siblings, was meant to make his parents look good, not to be a proper child. They were status symbols, and were raised according to their designated tasks. For Anton, who was ordained the life of a huntsman so his family could look more altruistic, that meant a solid education in everything that would make his family look generous and earnest towards the world, making certain he was smart and mannerly and capable, an example to other students.

He maintains a polite and respectful tone with everyone, dropping compliments and smiles with equal measure so that people like him, while keeping a dry, acerbic wit that no amount of lessons was able to repress. Yet, this is an act, as the majority of people he has met are all greedy and selfish, who aren't actually worth the niceties he spouts. He is, at heart, much more cynical and cold than he presents himself to others, and is actually quite cold hearted. He can make the tough decisions that other people might not with almost ease. He's also racist against Faunas thanks to his upbringing, viewing them as second class individuals, though, as always, he keeps these thoughts to himself, the idea that the wrong word said at the wrong time could have consequences having been beaten into him young, so he knows only to share personal truths if they'll aid him, and bury them otherwise.

Anton has a taste for the elegant and fanciful, given his background, and enjoys the finer things in wine, preferring wine to soda and the theatre to a movie and so on. He also enjoys spending money a bit too much, because if something's worth getting, it's worth getting the best. So yeah, he's a bit of a hypocrite when it comes to the value of money.

As a whole, Anton appears as a strong willed and polite man, who's willing to debate on any subject and shows his wealth more often than not, but hides his personal thoughts and feelings unless they make him appear better in the eyes of people, as they're often much more cynical than what people would expect from him unless they really took the time to try and know him.

Aura and Semblance:
Aura Color.

When raised in the manner Anton was, you expect it to have an effect on a person's development, shaping who they are. Being raised with such a high standard for appearance and class, Anton's semblance developed in a way that allowed him to always present himself as well as possible. It creates a subtle illusion on people in a 5 metre area around him that affects people's senses, tricking them into perceiving Anton in a better light. Those affected believe that Anton just happens to carry an attractive scent, that his voice just happens to appeal to them perfectly, that whatever angle they're seeing him at is his best. In essence, it makes him appear more attractive, though he prefers the term charming. It doesn't have any real effect bar that, allowing him to simply appear at his best when activated. It also affects himself, which he finds quite humorous.

Anton's semblance is limited, though, by the fact that people have to already see his features as attractive for it to work. As people are often most dependant on their eyes, these are harder to trick than the other senses, which often change how they perceive Anton. With sight, the person has to like Anton's features, else he will only be average in their eyes. If a person doesn't like his eye colour, his semblance won't make them suddenly adore it, merely soften their dislike.

Combat Behavior:
A caster through and through, Anton's place is on the edges of a fight, where he can suppress, control and blast his enemies into the ground without hassle. His ideal combat scenario is one where he plays tactical and fire support with his weapon, using his different types of dust to either attack opponents directly, or alter the battlefield as required, while his allies handle the close quarters work. Anton has a sharp mind, but only in the heat of battle, creating strategies that are only a few seconds of work rather than long game plans, reactions rather than actions so to speak. His weapon is ideal for mid to long ranged combat, with varying types of dust to keep opponents pressured while he maintains his distance.

Anton possess mediocre hand to hand skills at best, focusing mostly on defence with an end goal of using his weapon to simply blast an enemy away from him, if possible. He finds such combat deplorable though, preferring his method of "fire and forget", where he simply Dusts away a problem.

WEAPON

Name:
Glorious

Primary Form:
A black sceptre with a golden trim the length of Anton's leg. The structure of Glorious is very simplistic, just a simple black shaft, with a gold band around the base and a golden head about the size of Anton's fist. The head contains several opening that allow the dust to be fired in a blast form.

Dust Functions:
Fire: Creates a simplistic fire blast aimed at the target.

Ice: Two differing attacks, depending on which particular type of ice dust Anton is using. Either a simple ice spike is created, or a bolt of energy is released that freezes an area on impact, with an effective range of 10 metres.

Lightning: Shoots a bolt of electrical energy at the target.

Wind: Releases a sphere of compressed air that detonates on impact and causes everything in a small area to be bludgeoned and repelled from the point of impact.

Acid: An accidental creation, formed when Anton carelessly knocked over a combination of fire and ice dust, that mixed on the floor and created a temporary patch of corrosive liquid. Further refinement has allowed Anton to weaponize this dust, with an effective range of 7 metres, and a lifespan of 3 seconds when fired.

Repulsion: It forms a repulsion field that knocks back anything that makes contact with it, and looks like a collection of purple shaded sparkles.

Gravity: Upon impact, this dust creates it's on gravitational field, pulling objects in a 10 metre area towards it for 4 seconds. It's not particularly powerful, mostly acting as a hindrance for opponents, slowing them down or knocking their shots off course.

History:
Glorious is Anton's pride and joy, his one foray into the world of mechanical engineering. With his family's funds at his disposal, and carte blanche to create a weapon that suited him perfectly, without appearing too brutish for his family's carefully cultured appearance of course, the chance to utilise Dust was too great for Anton to pass up, even if he was kept under the watchful eye of a professional to make certain he didn't blow himself up. Glorious was an early design that started as more of a flight of fantasy than an actual weapon, yet Anton kept finding himself working on it. Eventually, it found itself on Anton's workbench, and after a tentative test, hasn't left his side since. Besides, it doubles as a handy-dandy cane for when he wants to looks extra classy.
