Added some paragraphs and whatnot to his history. Wasn't too sure about adding more significant events since I don't wanna bloat up the profile and lack a real idea as to who his team was and how they would interact in the first place. Might build up on it more during rping and whatnot.

"That's exactly why I called you two here. Vermillion said, rubbing his head after Hannah's loving shield conveniently 'fell' on him earlier. "I really can't be bothered to look for someone all day and unfortunately I haven't met them yet either. I was expecting one of you to know who this...Kelly something is.

Spotting Hannah's disgusted expression at the grilled vegetables he picked a stick up and began munching on it with much relish before offering it to his half-sister with a grin on his face. "You must try this, it's actually pretty good.

I don't really see wounding there...idk. Can we think of something else? I'll try thinking of some things unless it's final.

Added a new paragraph about his teaching style and habits in the Personality section. Thanks for calling that out, "It should be essential for an educator to have a clear cut way of dealing with his students and their studies!"

The semblance seems a little too vague for me, care to elaborate a bit more? So his father has strength and speed whilst his mother has this energy explosion? Basically he gets super fast, stronger AND an energy explosion?  I suggest you make clarify just how much stronger and faster he gets and how much damage or whatnot that energy blast does. Frankly I think you should stick with something that's more relatad to each other. Energy explosion plus strength and speed sounds like two different things, and even if you justify that it comes from his parents you don't really see other students in the RWBY series having multiple powers just from inheriting it. If that were the case than 100 generations later they'd be gods with the amount of abilities they have. You also state that he can create an explosion for 30 seconds? How does that work? A constant exploding thing? Explosions are spontaneous and instant, barely lasting a second at most for such a small scale. Elaborate.

Please clarify the semblance and maybe be more selective. I don't think I'll be able to pass this thing with two different powers with no correlation to one another.

Combat Behavior. Clothes won't be ripped during battle because he'll be protected by aura. A person's aura would prevent any damage to the user's objects, including clothes and maybe also weapons. Also, let me remind you that dodging every single thing is highly unrealistic because even the fastest characters we know on the show (Ruby and Weiss to name a few) also get hit fairly often during battle. I advise you not use this in future rp's as an excuse to dodge every single strike without due analysis of the actions being performed as well as the position and current action of your own character. Also, ballerinas are actually not that graceful and have rather restricted postures and movements. Just saying because there's the common misconception that ballerinas are free flowing magical creatures when in reality they're highly trained and orthodox dancers with rarely any change in technique save for use in contemporary   dance( or something along those lines.)

CHARACTER

Name: Enz Wraith

Age: 20, born 6 Hitahita, 61 AC (how ironic)

Species and Gender: Male Black Mamba (snake) Faunus

Symbol: a single yellow slit eye just above a box resembling a search bar

Occupation: 4th year student at Beacon

Appearance: Enz is 6’6”, 250lbs, has pale skin, and has a semi-bulky build. He is missing his left eye which has been replaced with a red, artificial eye and a curved metallic panel to cover up the damage and restore functionality. I was going for something like this, but on the left side. His right eye is a strange half-electronic yellow slit that is simply a repaired version of his original eye. He has black hair that is always unkempt and messy, and while it would be long enough to reach his eyes normally, it usually sticks up and out of his face. Due to his faunus heritage, his mouth has two fangs in place of upper canines. Enz often wraps his face in bandages so that only his eyes are visible, and the only purpose that anyone has seen for them is that he sometimes uses them as emergency note-taking surfaces. He normally wears a blackish purple sleeveless vest and cargo shorts of the same color with his portable lab equipment belt around his waist, but when the temperature necessitates it, he will wear a black jacket over his vest and a pair of purplish-black sweatpants in place of his shorts. Enz is missing everything past the elbow of his left forearm and instead has one part of his weapon there. He also wears a set of greaves, the M.A.C.G., on his shins.

History: Enz was born, the first child to an exceptionally wealthy family, and one of the few faunis ones at that, in Vale. His parents, by the names of Harvord and Elara Wraith, had gained their wealth through business ventures that led to the multi-billion Lien airship construction corporation known as Wraith Industries. He was always doted upon and received anything and everything he wanted. When he was 4 years old, Enz’s sister, Eliza, was born. He and his sister grew very close, and in their boredom began pursuing knowledge of any kind. Any books they could get their hands on were fair game, and Enz soon developed into a brilliant amateur scientist, preforming many experiments that normal courses wouldn't have covered until his second or third year of secondary schooling (I'm assuming that regular non-combat schooling works on a similar system to combat schooling and that the parallel to combat schooling in this case would be his second or third year in beacon) with the help of his sister and his parents’ money at the age of 11. Enz was enrolled for regular, non-combat schooling, but a few months before his schooling was due to start, Enz’s life changed. Enz had wanted to gather some samples for an experiment in the forest just outside the city, so he left, and was so immersed in his work to forget to leave a note. He believed that if he were to stay close enough to the borders of the city, that the grimm would be too scared to attack him for fear of the police and hunters/huntresses in the city. Such was his ignorance on a single subject factored into the change that occurred when his ill-informed plan went to shit. His parents reported him missing and with some monetary persuasion all of the nearby huntsmen and huntresses were mobilized to find the child. By that time, however, Enz had gotten to the forest and was in the middle of taking samples when he was attacked by an unusually large ursa. With no combat training, Enz tried to block the grimm’s attacks with his arms, and lost everything past the elbow of his left arm in the process. The next blow from the ursa damaged Enz’s right eye, completely ripped out his left eye, and sent him into a coma seconds before a huntress arrived who then carried Enz back to the city.

Enz’s parents went to every professional they could find, but they were a bit vain and cared more about how he looked than how he would see, so they had the surgeons mechanically repair the good eye and cover up the damage to the left side of the face. His throat had been clipped by the ursa's claws, so it had to be repaired with a simple mechanical augmentation that allowed speech and breathing, but gave his voice a robotic tone. Enz’s right eye was augmented with artificial depth perception, and he woke up to his parents offering a choice of prosthetics. Enz’s mind had changed, though, and he pushed aside the offers, returning home as soon as possible. Enz’s first course of action was to change his enrollment from normal schooling to combat schooling. He continued to refuse prosthetic offers because they were all aesthetic and as such had no logical purpose. His sister noticed the change in her brother as he had stopped showing concern for her well-being, or showing any emotions at all, for that matter. In Enz’s mind, the current goal was to continue his acquisition of knowledge through his experiments. Doing so would require two things, a combat education with a weapon to facilitate further expeditions for ingredients, and his parents’ money to fund his work. Enz’s plan went into effect as he played the part of the perfect son. He acted in exactly the ways his parents would want him to and pushed the perfect buttons to become the favorite child of the family who could do no wrong in the eyes of his parents. His sister tried to warn them, but their were blinded to the machinations of the puppeteer their son had become, eagerly funding his endeavors without questioning their purpose.

When it came time for Enz to make his weapon at signal academy, he crafted his own prosthetic in the form of Via, which was just a gun at the time. Throughout his years he continued his experiments in various fields. Logic necessitated the constant improvement of his weapon, so finding ways to make it more effective became a priority on par with experimentation. Also, soon after he had left the house, Enz found a suitable surgical organization and used the funds from his parents for the implantation of an artificial left eye and computer to replace the aesthetic cover-up that had been done earlier. An expense easily explained away as the purchase of expensive lab materials. In the same operation he had the depth perception in his right eye disabled because he had no further use for it. Enz went through 5 scrolls in his first two years at signal, destroying them through overuse as he accessed the CCTS more than the devices were purposed for, so he had the functions of a scroll added to his prosthetic eye/computer for reliability and ease of access. When he finally unlocked his semblance, there was no overtly observable change in the way Enz fought or acted, and he was able to further increase his knowledge. Enz has never revealed his semblance to anyone, and though some have guessed at the truth, officially he is recorded to have never unlocked his. Enz started wrapping his face with bandages when he noticed that his visage intimidated and deterred potential allies, but it hasn't seemed to fix the problem and he continues to do it anyway.

Enz applied for Beacon upon graduating from Signal, and passed the entrance exam without trouble. He went through two years at beacon without garnering many friends, but he did get on the good side of most members of the science department, thus earning himself a faculty pass to the lab resources so long as the preformed experiments were logged and kept track of. He also read through most of the books available in the library, astounding the librarians with his insatiable hunger for knowledge. He only interacted with his team for missions and mandatory meetings, though, replacing the time any other student would have spent with them to obtain more knowledge. During his 3rd year at Beacon Enz accomplished many things to further his cause. The first of these things was the testing of numerous chemical weapons, a few of which have made it into his main arsenal. One notable reject was an acid grenade so volatile that Enz determined its use illogical under any circumstances. The second was when Enz had a run-in with the knowledgeable informant Leycil Redlee. Through a certain altercation, Enz was able to acquire the entire contents of her laptop, giving him a virtual database of illegally collected detailed information on most everyone in Vale. He has this database linked from his main computer in his lab to his prosthetic eye via the CCTS. He has also begun working on a project behind-the-scenes, the exact details of which he has not told anyone. To be continued....

Personality: Everything Enz does is determined by logic. He sees emotion as a weakness and though he still has emotions he is exceptionally skilled at suppressing them. Enz makes decisions based on what is most logical to complete the task or reach the goal he is currently pursuing, and he is above nothing, be it killing or torture. He generally refrains from those two, however, because such actions have a high probability of resulting in the loss of allies. He has no empathy or mercy and is ruthless on the battlefield, but often when he does not kill because it is the logical decision, it is seen as mercy. Enz finds small things that defy logic annoying but he will not allow bigger matters to be done in a highly illogical way if he can help it (for example if a prisoner had no use, knew too much, and would be too difficult to drag around, Enz would not let a teammate’s morality get in the way of the most logical decision which would be to kill the prisoner). Due to his prosthetic eye, Enz is extremely knowledgeable in a lot of different areas, and what he doesn’t know he can easily obtain. This often weirds out the people who meet him because he is able to identify them by checking their face with Remnant's list of registered denizens via the CCTS, usually gaining access to everything that was ever officially recorded regarding them after a few minutes of searching (information regarding unregistered persons and information that isn't publicly available cannot be accessed in this way). With his newly acquired information database, however, Enz can identify more people faster and know more about them. Enz is often confounded by decisions based purely on emotion, though, and he can deem certain courses of action logical, even if they horrify or disgust those around him. He rarely makes friends because of the way he acts, and he has an extremely hard time working with others because he doesn't trust the unpredictability of an emotionally active psyche.

Aura and Semblance: Enz's aura color is a dark purple, and his unnamed semblance allows him to enter a state of supernatural awareness. While activated, Enz's awareness of his surroundings increases in a number of ways. Firstly, Enz gains the ability to see in a full 360 degree circle around himself. Through extensive use of the semblance and the experience that this provides, he has developed near-perfect recognition of where he is in relation to what he perceives (so he doesn't get turned around or confused by the 360 degree vision). His ability to mentally process events around him increases tremendously, and he gains much better reaction time and attack/block timing. This goes along with an increased capacity to multitask and keep track of multiple targets. This semblance costs 5% per minute to use, but can only be used in seven minute intervals before going through a thirty second cooldown.

Combat Behavior: Enz fights in a very defensive manner. He uses his shield to prolong combat, often baiting out reckless attacks or valuable aura usage from more eager combatants. He stays on the defensive as much as possible to both tire out the enemy and learn their fighting style (if he hasn’t already obtained it from the CCTS). Once the opportunity presents itself though, Enz will not hesitate to strike with his weaponized prosthetic in the enemy’s moment of weakness. If Enz knows he will fight a certain person in the near future, it is not uncommon for him to augment his loadout with chemical concoctions and/or devices to counter his opponent's strengths and exploit their weaknesses. He does not let morality or emotion stop him from making the best choice. Enz is considerably stronger than an average person, and he uses this strength to out-power weak defenses and grappling attempts. His biggest disadvantage on the battlefield is his lack of speed. While he can move his limbs just fine, his choice of weapons and ammunition make him quite clunky and clumsy when trying to move his entire body at any reasonable speed, making him particularly vulnerable to combatants that can get around behind him. Enz has tried to offset this weakness with his newest weaponry additions, but without a sufficient amount of dust he returns to a grounded and strafing-vulnerable state. He is also quite ineffective at dealing with large groups of enemies, grimm or otherwise.

WEAPON

Name: Vouluntas and Via (the will and the way)

Primary Form: Vouluntas, the will, looks like a metal panel that is built into the left side of his head that covers his eye socket. The metal panel has a red optical sensor built over where Enz’s eye should be, and it contains a computer that is linked to Enz’s brain through a neural connection. I was going for something like this, but on the left side. Through the optical sensor, the computer enables high speed calculations of seen things (i.e. he could measure the distance between himself and an enemy, the volumes and dimensions of objects or samples, the mass of objects or samples given composition and volume, or he could tell if someone was lying, within reason). He can also access the CCTS with this device as if it were a scroll, and can do anything a scroll can do through it. The access Enz has is still limited, and he can't yet crack encrypted transmissions such as those used by governments and military organizations. While the virtual presence created by the use of the device has no address and cannot be called, Enz can use it to make outgoing calls. These calls are sent out without any callback address or identification name and the on-screen picture that others see is simply white noise snow (like this), and the transmitted sound can be anything that Enz can clearly remember (this includes simply speaking out loud and translating the words through the device). Using this CCTS access function requires Enz to carefully balance his attention and multitask, so he rarely uses it in combat. This piece of the weapon doubles as the way he controls the various functions of the rest of the weapon and is designed to work under any environmental condition including extreme cold/heat, and underwater. Every other piece of the weapon is designed with the same resilience to the elements so that no single situation could deprive him of an eye, weapon, and arm.

The second piece of the weapon is an unnamed medium sized pack that works as a large ammunition storage for Via. The pack is designed to be streamlined (kind of like this but a little more rounded) because Enz insists that the fractions of a second it shaves off of his turn speed (due to air friction) could one day mean life or death. To insert rounds, the pack's top panel opens up to reveal a specialized funnel for channeling bullets into a standardized storage system that maximizes storage efficiency. This means that rounds can be "poured" into the backpack and still fall into place at exactly 2,500 rounds. This piece is kept on Enz’s back and has four, mechanical metal straps which keep it securely in place. These straps are not flexible, but rather extend from and retract to the pack as one of the functions of the weapon controlled by Vouluntas. Two of these straps go over Enz's shoulders and two of them loop around and up just above the waist. They all meet in an 'X' at Enz's sternum. When he is putting the pack on, the straps meet in an 'X' above his sternum so that the pack is relatively loose, and then tighten until they and the pack fit snugly. The pack is linked to Via with a heavy armored belt that attaches to the spot between the lower panel of the forearm and the elbow. This pack holds a maximum of 2,500 rounds which it feeds into Via through the belt.

Via, the way, is a multipurpose replacement for Enz’s missing arm that is connected to Vouluntas through Enz's nervous system. It has three curved panels which simulate the shape of a forearm when they fit together, but these panels can lift up and back to reveal a mechanism that switches out the different attachments of the arm in various ways (the rifle barrels fold into themselves lengthwise when not in use, the blade folds in half and sits in the inside of the curve of the lower panel, and the hand folds into the inside of one of the panels. The mechanism can fold up and hide up to two of the three attachments, but they are never all in storage at once.
-One is a mid to long ranged rifle with three barrels and a maximum range of 500 meters that looks like this. The weapon is semiautomatic and fires with such force that it has to switch barrels after each shot to avoid barrel overheating. It fires 15mm lead-coated rounds, and whenever possible, Enz will use a chemical reaction to make the lead coating on the bullets water-soluble. This means that even after the bullet gets lodged in the target, the lead coating will melt off into the target's bloodstream to cause intense pain. This weapon can be used in tandem with the blade attachment. While this attachment is in use, the panels that hide/protect the switching mechanism have to stay in their opened position so as to enable the barrel switching.
-Another is a 2.5ft blade that looks like this but it is all silver. The blade, when sheathed, can either be completely sheathed, or sticking out of the back of the arm at the elbow. It can be used in tandem with the rifle as a bayonet of sorts that hangs just below the rotating barrels. It can also be used in the same way for the mechanical hand or used on its own, sticking out of the spot where the wrist would be.
-The third is a fully articulated mechanical hand that looks like this, but armored and a left hand. The hand is armored well enough to block sword blows, and sturdy enough to absorb the impact. Enz has, in fact, used this in the past to grab the blade of an opponent when they least expected it.

Secondary Form: The pack’s ammo belt can be detached from Via and removed from Enz, but the other components are grafted into Enz and can’t be removed. Via’s rifle attachment can use a clip in the same spot the belt would attach, but the rounds still have to be the same type.

Dust Functions: N/A

History: Enz chose Via as a prosthetic when he was given the choice and has improved it countless times since then. A process that sometimes involved Enz having an idea and then using his parents’ money to hire someone that would realize it.

WEAPON

Name: Svalinn (named after the shield of Norse mythology that shields the earth from the sun and protects it from burning)

Primary Form: Svalinn’s primary form is an elongated steel grey hexagon that straps securely onto Enz’s right forearm and reaches almost from his elbow to his wrist.

Secondary Form: When activated, Svalinn expands into a huge, elongated hexagonal shield, about 5ft long (along the line of elbow to wrist), and 3ft wide. The shield is heat resistant, bulletproof, nonconductive, and made to absorb impacts by spreading the force out along its entire surface. The transformation from primary form to secondary form and back is very quick so that Enz can minimize the time he spends encumbered by the shield’s dimensions. It looks like this in terms of its shape and has the same steel grey coloring as its retracted form. In a similar manner to Vouluntas and Via, the shield is designed to work under any sort of environmental conditions from subzero temperatures to intense heat and even underwater.

History: Svalinn was added to Enz’s arsenal when he noticed that the continued modifications to his prosthetic arm were slowing him down. He decided that if he wasn’t going to dodge attacks, he would need an effective way to block them.

WEAPON

Name: M.A.C.G. (Maneuverability Augmentation Combat Greaves)

Primary Form: In its storage state, the M.A.C.G. are no more than armor plating that cover Enz’s shins and calves with two cylinders positioned vertically along the back of the leg. They are made of the same material as Svalinn though, and as such have the same considerable defensive properties.

Secondary Form: In its secondary form the greaves expand into full boots that completely cover Enz’s feet and extend all the way up to the knee. (They look kind of like the boot styles depicted here.) These boots also have the same protective qualities of Svalinn. Additionally, the cylinders on the backs of the legs connect into the heels of the boots through short tubes.

Dust Functions: On each boot, one cylinder holds 5 propulsion dust crystals and the other holds 5 fire dust crystals. Once in Secondary Form, a propulsion dust crystal is moved into a designated chamber at the heel of the boot, and then activated. A series of small vents in the boot direct its propulsion into a cushion of force that allows Enz to hover about an inch above the ground. Enz can then lean to move around at an average person’s jogging speed or turn on a dime. Each propulsion crystal last 1 minute before running out. The fire dust crystals can be used in tandem with the propulsion dust to light the ground on fire wherever Enz hovers (same 1 minute per crystal), to blast him upwards about 10 feet in the air (each fire crystal can only do this twice before running out), or to deliver a devastating, explosive kick to an enemy (each fire crystal can do this twice before running out). Note that Enz can transform the boots without using any crystals simply to gain the defensive advantages.

History: Enz made the M.A.C.G. and added them to his arsenal in order to compensate for his slow turn speed and also to prevent his legs from becoming an easy target when his shield doesn’t reach down far enough.

WEAPON

Name: Chemical Bombs

Primary Form: Enz augments his loadout by keeping a store of chemical grenades with various effects for different situations. He keeps these in his utility belt.

Variants:

-   Smoke: This variant works a lot like a smoke grenade, but with some notable changes. The canister, when thrown, releases a pitch-black aerosol that creates a 20ft radius roughly spherical cloud. The aerosol is laced with a strong tranquilizer which will make anyone who breathes in the smoke drowsy after the first breath and will knock them out in only four or five breaths (if one has their wits about them, they can usually hold their breath in order to stop this). In addition, the cloud is a self-contained radio silence zone where any kind of electromagnetic radiation is absorbed by the aerosol before it can get anywhere (it effectively cuts off anyone inside the cloud from the outside world). The grenade triggers after 10 seconds from being thrown, the cloud settles out in about 10 minutes, and Enz usually carries two or three on his person at any one time.

-   Sticky: This variant looks a lot like a small, handheld landmine. The device, when thrown, sticks fast to the first thing it touches. Once attached to something, it transforms so that a dome-like shield covers the explosive, and detonates with the power of a grenade. The shield completely eliminates the possibility for collateral damage, and focuses all of the blast power inwards to do the maximum amount of damage to the intended target. Enz can remotely pause or deactivate the 10 second countdown timer with his left eye to use a successfully attached sticky bomb to keep another individual under duress. The biggest weakness of this device is that it is completely useless if it misses.

History: These grenades were developed and tested systematically over the course of Enz’s 3rd year, and have since become a mainstay of his arsenal.

EQUIPMENT

Primary Form: Enz wears a tool belt of sorts which he fills with equipment for a portable lab. This includes a set of 5 test tubes, 8 sample collection containers of various sizes, and a Bunsen burner with a small portable gas tank.

Considering how much has changed I might have to revoke the previous +1, depends.

Not too sure with the whole gang lord theme but you could probably build a plot for that later on, preferably with whatever team you build.

Dead parents +1 sins.

Another problem. While you may have no semblance as of yet he WOULD get it later on so I'll have to deny the whole double aura capacity. Above average at most.

The Vale Region / A Vytal Moment in Time[Vermilion and team]
« on: October 08, 2016, 09:36:01 AM »
The smell of grilled meat and vegetables wafted through the air and into Vermilion's nostrils as he watched a stall owner tend to his barbecue and customers. Wondering if he could actually use his own spears to grill or roast something Vermilion manifested the tiniest he could make, about a foot long though still a bit thick for a barbecue and thought about shanking a large portion of meat and placing it on the grill himself, though that would bring too much negative attention to himself. Walking over to a clearing while opening his scroll, Vermilion smiled at a team of girls who seemed to be stricken by his regal appearance and went back to contacting Hannah and Vivian on his scroll.

"They better respond, I went through all this effort to arrange this little outing. Even if it is related to the festival." He muttered, sending a message to both Hannah and Vivian to meet him near the outer stalls. It would be easier to see them with less people and he was expecting them to introduce their latest member.

Going back to wandering around, Vermilion began taking note of a few places where they could waste time before they got tired enough to go back home. Aside from the barbecue stall there were also some oriental styled cuisine, a nearby Info Board, some patrolling Atlesian Knights, and a stall selling all sorts of knickknacks. At every turn he found himself finding similar yet slightly different stalls with the same outlook but different items for sale. Vytal sure was full of opportunities with this amount of people. Vermilion wondered if he would be able to come up with something to garner attention and praise as he waited near the info board. It shouldn't be too hard to notice a man of his stature and appearance by a blatantly obvious and out of place machine, unless of course the girls got caught up shopping. Typical women.

Hmm Honestly speaking Blair has the most defining leader characteristics. According to her personality at least. And maybe enough background for it.

Approved Characters / Professor William Nox

CHARACTER

Name: William Nox

Age: 32

Species and Gender: Male Human

Symbol:Burning Cog with inlayed Wrench

Spoiler: ShowHide

Occupation:Professor at Beacon. Dust Specialist. Dust Engineer. Inventor Extraordinaire

Curriculum: Dust mechanics 1st - 4th year (Elective for other years?)

May include but not limited to
General Dust mechanics
Intermediate Dust mechanics
Advanced Dust mechanics
Specialized Dust mechanics
Semblance Dust Usage

Appearance:

William is an eccentric looking character with alternating strands of white and black hair that is mostly burnt at times and almost always standing upright due to carelessness, loss of interest in maintaining appearance, and maybe just some bad hair products. He has a somewhat gaunt appearance, with dark spots under his wild looking eyes and part of his right eyebrow burnt off. Usually seen with a pair of heavy duty goggles, William also has several different type, some monocles, some large, and sometimes a welding mask, often times forgetting that he’s wearing them even when giving lectures in class.

Most of the times William would be sporting an ordinary shirt and khaki slacks, oftentimes crumpled with some burnt parts on them, topping that off would be a slightly overused labcoat with some streaks of black and whatever other colors you can imagine across them, presumably from dust explosions that happen all the time whenever he demonstrates or tinkers with his machines. When equipped, he usually wields his massive weapon along with a large and bulky power glove powered by dust, a mechanical backpack containing many of his necessary contraptions with an antenna sticking out, and some protective eyewear such as heavy duty goggles.

History:

Sir William Nox of Vale, a profound personality in the fields of engineering and dust mechanics as well as education, his reputation mainly stemming not only from his successes and skill but also from his eccentricities and peculiar behaviour even when in the midst of particularly esteemed individuals(a little scuffle back then during a ball leading to stray fire that nearly burned all his garments off). Even as a child William was known to be a little odd preferring to sit back at home to fix the stove or tinker around with his father’s automobile instead of playing with the other kids outside. His childhood was mainly spent covered with grease, tightening screws and playing with fire, inventing being a hobby of his during his free time at home whenever he came back from school. Though not having many friends, he loved spending his time making ‘friends’ of his own. Friends with wheels, friends with cogs, friends that blew fire, and friends that helped him make other friends. In the long run the lack of social interaction left him awkward or in other terms, essentially an oddball to any real people he met. The odd look of being seen as a machine of uncertain complexity didn’t really fit in well with the lot of them but that never stopped him from looking high and low for any odd ‘parts’ they possessed and sometimes pressing a button or two that might have turned out to be a mole or a zit.

Possessing a rather...odd personality, William tended to treat other people the same way he did machines. Of course human interactions were awkward because people, lacking the simple turning gears and battery packs and control mechanisms that his machines had, were simply too complicated even for the young genius that was William. Being as he was his personality isolated him from others but that didn't sadden him at all. The more time he had away from real people the more time he had tinkering with machines.

William's parents were hard working and also rather intelligent individuals. His father being a dust engineer worked for a major company often brought home broken or faulty equipment to fix while William watched as a young boy and his mother was an old fashioned house wife but seemed to encourage William's enthusiasm with machines and dust, seeing as how the ever growing industry would need people like him. His parents weren't really social as well so they had no qualms seeing their son get top grades in most subjects save for the humanities which he failed miserably in most of the time. Getting the boy a plethora of books as well as having him assist his father during his usual routines he studied rigorously to support his hobby and soon to be passion. As he grew he started becoming more interested in the seemingly miracle substance known as 'dust' that powered machines and how different varieties provided even more possibilities. The common mishaps at home forced his father to make his own personal workshop, a few yards away from the house, and unlocked the boy's aura while monitoring the amount of dust he used on a daily basis, much to the dismay of his wallet but safety was of utmost priority.

Needing a way to test his machines, most of them being small semi-independent help bots, William often used them during his classes but normal education didn't exactly encourage machines doing the work of a normal person. Not wanting to spend time away from his passion William started skipping school to spend more time with his hobby but his mother opted for a better solution.

Primary combat school allowed him to use his growing expertise in robotics and dust usage at a much more alarming rate, his new found fascination with dust itself growing and presenting itself as both a hazard to other students and himself. Taking special remedial classes under an interested dust professor, William's knowledge grew even more while he started creating a rather infamous image of himself in school. Giant holes in school walls tended to do that to you.

After going through basic combat training and education, though much of the actual combat having been done by his little machines, he proceeded through to Beacon in hopes of being able to make better of his skills in both machinery, dust, and combat, a little part of him hoping to gain a few pounds by rigorous training due to his lanky frame. The years flew by as William and his team got through the relatively difficult process of becoming huntsmen and he slowly learned how to integrate himself more normally with 'normal' people. He never really became truly ‘normal’ but he learned in Beacon that being normal wasn’t exactly something necessary to survive and that being odd had its own advantages as well.

Straying away from social events William as always tinkered with his machines and even created his first prototype of the power glove he uses based on the developing hover tech used for airships. Having such a thing at is disposal it also allowed William to fight with his favorite tool in close quarters, a giant wrench. Be it a joke of his or a way to compensate for his lack of interest in actual combat, William never did change his fighting style all throughout accompanying small bots and an intimidating massive mauling weapon to boot.

Of course being in a team eventually meant that William had to interact with people on a semi-daily basis. Assisting his teammates with their weapons and dust studies he discovered he enjoyed sharing his love for machines and dust with others even if it meant him talking hours on end about theory and application while the rest of them humored him and fell asleep during his lectures.

Graduation was one of the many highlights of his life that had much more awaiting for him. His specialty in dust and machines got him many demands in technological corporations wanting to avail of his skills, some of them offering even research jobs that piqued his interest in trying out all sorts of techniques and methods he could only dream of doing with his limited equipment. After a few years jumping from company to company, he mastered many things regarding dust and machinery, many of them involving but not limited to weaponry, and wanting to share his knowledge, decided to try teaching at Beacon where he remains to this day albeit having some occasional requests and jobs in other prestigious institutes.

Personality:

Extremely eccentric, oftentimes distracted by his own speech patterns, and has a large love for scientific things especially those pertaining to machines and dust powered contraptions William is an extremely informative and hyperactive individual when it comes to science. He could talk nonstop to someone about an interesting topic and be oblivious of all other things around him, unless of course danger is nearby. Known to be a loud thinker, he would also talk to himself when it comes to ideas instead of letting them sit around in his mind, sometimes even suddenly pulling out his scroll to quickly record a random idea that he’s picked up or to pretend talking to someone just so the idea would stick.

When teaching in class William would often go on blabbering as always, rushing to the point and treating complex material as if it were easy enough for a five year old. Unless asked he would continue his lecture with sometimes little regard to his students until of course he finished whatever he was talking about. This of course would sometimes make him hard to follow at times which may end up leading to a review of previous lessons complimented with demonstrations, more often than not being sufficient in itself. William doesn't like having consultation lessons after class because it's some of the few times he alots for his experiments, unless of course the student wishes to assist for a short while and risk some singed clothes. Not known to be overly picky with exams William would offer both written and practical examinations, nothing too difficult to handle depending on the subject, and perhaps allow some reference material depending on the complexity of the examinations and whether or not the student is taking an advanced subject for even more in depth dust usage such as semblance dust users and those that use dust mixtures and combinations in their weapons and equipment.

Aura and Semblance:

Fortification

William can use his aura to fortify objects to give them much more rigidity and strength by using his aura to fuse in any weak links in the object’s shape and form and giving it a solid form capable of withstanding even more force than before. Though not usually used excessively, William could use his semblance to turn something as simple as a normal cloth shirt, and strengthening it into something as tough as steel mail but at a taxing cost of aura. Usually he would use his semblance to reinforce his machines on the spot to minimize damage to both it, and the environment should it explode or malfunction. Depending on the amount of aura used he could use it to fortify a machine, object, or even his own body to withstand extreme force. Fortifications could last as long as there is a steady aura supply but a set amount of aura could give an object far away from it’s source a defensive boost that can last an hour at most with degrading strength as it receives more damage, eventually weathering out the fortification until it’s back to normal strength.

Being more of a machine-loving person, William rarely uses his semblance unless for special circumstances, deciding to trust the integrity of his creations rather than using cheap tricks to make them better than they really are unless in dire circumstances (including testing new weaponry types or potentially dangerous machines).

Combat Behavior:

Nox isn’t really a frontlines fighter and would opt to let his drones and other small robots do the fighting. However, if the situation calls for it he’ll personally go head to head using his massive wrench as a weapon or use all sorts of dust devices that’ll vary from various types of grenades to small turrets and trap or even just raw dust canisters. Not really being a team player he would gladly sip a cup of tea while letting his creations take care of the dirty work and maybe toss a grenade or two if they need help. If it comes to close combat he would wield his massive weapon with surprising ease and even go as far as using the beam function point blank while maintaining a grip on whatever it is he’s fighting.

WEAPON

Name: Professor Nox’s Heavy-Duty Combat Wrench - version 71.0914A

Primary Form:

It’s a big wrench...like...very big, it could stand on end and be taller than the user himself.

The combat wrench has all sorts of stuff imbedded into it, some tools, some dust vials, a Dust cannon, spare goggles, the kind of stuff you’d expect your typical inventor to be carrying around. Due to it’s size and the stuff it carries it needed extreme fortification and tweaking leading to heavily armored plating and minute adjustments to ensure its strength and toughness against the many things you might expect in everyday life Be it something ranging from a simple engine fix, smacking a grimm with a homerun swing, or even using the Dust cannon to heat himself a nice cup of coffee or tea(Not completely advisable. and yes he sometimes carries a mug inside.)

Combat-wise, the wrench(adjustable variant) acts like a huge mauling weapon, capable of crushing opponents with it’s huge weight and also capable of holding onto and crushing them (It’s a tool used for holding onto stuff, duh.) The weapon could be enhanced with whatever dust canister (yes, not a puny vial or cartridge) is equipped at the moment. These include but are not limited to, Fire, Lightning, Ice and earth effects. Using the dust effects allow area attacks around the user or straightforward attacks travelling up to 5m from his position or power up the massive Dust cannon in the mouth of the wrench.

History: One of the nutty professor's most prized inventions, the wrench was a product of multiple trials and errors and lots of accidents. Many of Nox’s odd burns around his coats and hair were due to testing the weaponry functions of the wrench, mostly due to fire related explosions. Version number indicates that the wrench has gone through multiple models and improvements through the years.

Secondary Form:

Having optional supports available the weapon’s head opens up revealing a large dust cannon capable of shooting all sorts of beams powered up by, wait for it, dust! The cannon’s power can be adjusted to several levels for either precision or power. There are 3 main levels of power in the cannon but the range can be finely tuned in between these levels with a little tinkering. Power ranges from small bursts of Dust to a powerful beam that decimates objects in its path but always ends up overheating the gun mechanism afterwards. Dust usage depends on what level is being used, of course, the highest being the most dust consuming. Beam properties depend on what type of dust or dust mixes are being used with some basic ones such as fire, lightning, earth, and ice being used conventionally.

Secondary Weaponry and Equipment]

Name: Dust Power Glove 3000

Primary Form:
A single, extremely large power glove (Left hand) that looks a lot like a glorified steel oven mitt that has a glowing core in the center and veins of energy channeling through the core throughout the glove. The glove allows the user to lift extremely heavy objects by virtue of being powered by dust by a small repulsion mechanism almost akin to hovering. “I thought about airship technology but on a much smaller scale!” Due to the glove’s size, it is able to house multiple dust types but has one large supply of specialized dust for dealing with physical and mechanical stresses such as holding the huge wrench William carries around. Secondary uses include being able to quickly inject reserve dust canisters into the wrench for easy replacement and using some dust effects to cause elementally powered melee attacks, which are seldomly used due to the wrench’s weight, but otherwise useful if under the right circumstances.

History:

Having been made before the power wrench, the glove was indeed a very handy tool, especially when it came to heavy lifting of many metallic parts and containers of dust for research. Applying the use of the glove for his wrench made the otherwise obsolete weapon(for his lanky frame), to an extremely potent and effective weapon for close combat as well as massive suppression. For some odd reason Nox prefers using only one glove, usually because it’s hard to fine tune stuff with fingers the size of salami.

Name: Drones and minibots

Every now and then William would make miscellaneous machines to help out with certain deeds depending on necessity. Many of them being simple mobile clockworks barely 3 feet tall at most that help carry around dust materials or machine parts. Sometimes these machines can be outfitted to be capable of short ranged flight to transverse difficult terrains but unfortunately many of them are often faulty due to ill preparation or adjusting when rushed or forgotten about. In terms of combat, William can outfit a plethora of weapons onto these machines giving him a miniature army of sorts but time and materials are usually key factors in determining how many he can deploy but on average being around 2-4 bots.

Some common bots are simple light machine gun wielding bots that fire 9mm - .50 cal ammo depending on outfitting but rarely being able to withstand too much damage due to size and technical complexity, giving them very little armor or limited mobility. The flying versions of these bots fire much lighter rounds to prevent disruption of flight due to recoil and are much lighter armored though being much more mobile. Dust ammunition is common for the bots and weapons can range from simple guns to flamethrowers and even self destructing bots. Others can consist of kinds of conventional weaponry such as other guns, flamethrowers or even spinning blades, depending on what’s needed but due to limited resources and funds he usually doesn’t go for things that are too complex for simple deeds.

All bots are controlled personally by Nox himself through his scroll. The drones and attack and support bots have preinstalled commands and algorithims that allow them to differentiate stuff such as grimm and people apart as well as environmental recognition as well as different sets of instructions as to how to react to certain situations. Of course they're not perfect and sometimes malfunction and have errors in performing tasks which is why Professor William Nox uses his scroll to monitor them by groups or even individually, issuing commands by voice or even through writing on his scroll and several other measures.

Wisteria:"I personally like History. The books have just enough Oomph when I throw them at idiots who push my buttons...Oh, as a subject? Uhm...home economics...DON'T JUDGE ME!

Subject that isn't present that I'd like to add? Idiots as Target practice 101 and I want to have one of those dumb social classes removed. Hate it when I'm forced to talk to people who can't hold a decent conversation.
(they're too scared of her, actually. Afraid she'll get pissed and slam a book on them.) "Hey, you're supposed to be helping me!

Vermillion:"Anything involved with politics. I naturally excel at them with my background and I'm pretty sure everyone else would agree that I'm an exemplary leader. Grovel at my feet, plebe. A subject I'd want to add would probably be "Advanced Interrogation" *unconsciously starts cracking his knuckles*. As for removal? Take that stupid battlefield ethics away from me,nobody listens to it anyways. And who says throwing sand  in people's faces in unfair? They should be glad that I allowed them to get as near as they got! And I get minus points for pummeling them into the ground til they ran out of aura? Preposterous!

Kei:"Eh? School is boring. But if I have to give an answer I guess...uhm...anything that makes sure people are all in their classrooms. Hehehe. Advanced Deception techniques would be fun...or not. People might be more aware. Scratch that, I guess something that lets a person appraise items easily. Don't ask. As for removal? I hate sparring classes. Sure I could kick ass but I can't fight the way I want.

Aurum: "*Snore* Huh, what? Subjects? My favorite is lunch time! Or Go home time. I don't really care. Atlas is boring but if I did have to give one it would be math, I like how everything arranges itself in the end even if it looks like a complete clusterf*beep*. A subject that I wanna have? Easy. Sleep time or Rest after battle 101 or something. Get rid of History, like I need to know how many people died in this or or that, why should I care? Everything's fine now, isn't it?

"A drunk Vivian? Must be my birthday. Oh the mess? I'll leave that to Hannah or the other girl. I'll probably also take away Vivian's arms and pin her down to her bed by force if necessary and try not to get knocked out in the process."

"Huh, steal what now? I have no idea what you're talking about, I'm an upright and honest individual!

*looks around to make sure nobody else is around*

Off the record, I once managed to swipe this huge gem on display at a museum...well that's why I'd like to say but some bullet sponge punk managed to get it before me and I helped him escape this psycho anti-faunus huntress. Before I could sell of the jewel and split the winnings for the trouble I got into planning the perfect heist he up and vanished. ON ME! THE MASTER THIEF! JUST...HOW?!??!

Damn it. I guess it doesn't count if I didn't earn anything from it.

Just you wait, if I see your sorry mug again I'll have three of me shaking you down till you have nothing but a penny to your name. Stupid red haired bullet sponge punk.
