Everywhere Else / Conflicting Ideals [CLOSED]
« on: July 17, 2019, 05:16:04 AM »
If one was to survey Haven’s dock at the current moment, it seems rather desolate and lonely with a singular bullhead currently waiting for its occupants to make their way over. Compared to the bustling weekends where students are coming in and out to make daily excursions, there’s only a singular fourth year tiredly waiting with the bullhead. Said fourth year also happens to be letting out constant tired sighs as they rub their eyes under the mask. After all, Arian is allowed to make constant expeditions and he just came back from his most recent one. A sound of disgust rises from within him as he ponders about his current status. He can’t let his exhaustion hinder him, so he’ll have to account for it in other ways.

Moreover, Arian has just been tasked to essentially mentor his juniors alongside a fellow peer that he’s not all too familiar with. He’s not too sure as to why him of all people out of the members in his team, but he’ll have to make do. I suppose I can take the time to become familiar with the ones that’ll become my colleagues in the future. It’ll be difficult, but perhaps it’ll be a nice test for all of them to grow stronger in the end.

As Arian thinks about this, he also goes over what their mission will be. As far as he knows, it’ll be one of the daily patrols between villages in order to clear out local supply routes of any grimm and bandits. Doing this would secure the safety of the villages and transfer of goods for the next group of huntsmen. Any other information he really didn’t care for all too much.

Beacon Academy / Blind Leading Blind [CLOSED]

Noir wasn’t all too sure as to why he was in the library. He did say that he was going to pick up a book for his teammates since it would’ve been a good read for them. In fact, it was in his nature to help out a friend however he could. Unfortunately, Noir didn’t quite have the foresight to realize that he does not have the capabilities of finding the book he’s looking for. Now he’s in Beacon’s vast library with no form of assistance whatsoever as it seems like the attendant is currently out on a break. A quick sense of the aura also doesn’t reveal much either, with most of them out of the way and isolated. He didn’t have the heart to bother those people while they’re trying to do whatever they need to do in a library

Noir really didn’t have the will to return back to the dorm, but he really didn’t have anywhere else to go for the rest of the day. That’s why he’s now going to meander thoughtlessly throughout the library with his headphones on and music jamming. Of course, he occasionally bumps into a lot of things that he didn’t expect, but that’s just because they’ve been moved. As long as he takes it slow, he probably won’t be in too much pain.

While Noir’s at it, he might as well look like he’s doing something as he picks up random books and dropping them off elsewhere.

Beacon Academy / Blind Not-Date [CLOSED]

Noir whistled a little tune as he made his way around the dorm’s sort of private yet small kitchen. It wasn’t heavy duty, but it served his purpose as he elegantly “danced” around the kitchen. Well. Not really a dance but more of a sense of rhythm and elegance than actual dancing. Regardless, Noir didn’t really mind since he’s pretty much alone in the dorm right now and he’s cooking up some food for his teammates since they’ll be hopping on by later. Who knows, he might even pack it up as if he was parent sending them off else with their lunch. Plus, it would do Noir some good to get familiar with what he’s given so that he doesn’t end up messing up when cooking. Twisting knobs here and there, Noir listens for the familiar cackle of the stove as he touches where the heat sources would be. With a nod, Noir would take a few minutes to feel out the levels of temperature and mark their place on the knobs just so he knows.

With everything relatively ready, Noir would begin to lean on one foot with a hand to his chin as he thinks about what he should cook for his team. He could keep it relatively simple since it’s an entirely new area for him… Well, that seemed like the plan! Noir had gone grocery shopping earlier, so he carefully organized all his ingredients to keep track mentally and started to do his thing! Frying pan, cooking oils, laying out the bacon onto the pan as he began to mentally keep track of the time within his head. Another frying pan, more oils, this time with some good ‘ol ground beef, adding that onto the timer in his head. Once again, Noir would whistle as he starts to make sure that everything was going properly while he waits for the timer in his head to finish up.

”So I understand the slight animosity and fear our dear people feel about Janus.” Once again, monotone Hunter returns in an elegant manner to placate the murmuring audience once again. ”However, I do deem it fit that we may applaud our semifinalists for a great show of combat. Their opponents were definitely not easy fights, so kudos to them as well.” Hunter was uncomfortable casting the fight alone, and it shows with the rather weak attempts at maintaining professionality for the fight. Or it might be the fact that Prim is currently grading his papers and giving him the deadliest of glares. ”Anyhow, our semifinalists are Malina, uh, whats-her-face, with a great display of elegant… casting? Versus Janus, the extremely mobile soldier!”

”Anyways, as a semifinal, we have a fancy shmancy thing where we combine the two environments for something cool!” A large holographic image of a lottery machine appears on all sides of the arena, with two spinners. The spinners spun so quickly, making it nearly impossible to make out the passing words. It ticked through the options slower and slower until it finally stopped on Ocean and Ocean. ”...Unfortunately both of them are ocean… That won’t stop us from making it cool though!”

On both sides of the arena, it would be quickly filled with water as the center of it stands a rather large pirate ship that seems to gently rock back and forth for now. A large wooden plank is extended to both Malina and Janus to quickly make their way onto the ship before it would begin to retract and the ship starts it’s “voyage”. ”The cool thing about this is that we’ve basically simulated an actual ship, complete with large amount of turbulence through out the fight! Start doing too much damage, and maybe it'll start sinking too!” Hunter tried his best to clue in on that feature of the arena.

(A coin flip has decided that Janus will get the first post. The arena size is identical to that of the 1v1 arena in the show, however, it features scaled down biomes to fit the size. Good luck, and may the best combatant win. To make the turbulence as easy and effective as possible, every other post with swap from gentle to extremely rocky, vis versa. It’ll start after the fourth combat post.)

Hunter shuffles a little bit in discomfort as the weight on his shoulder started to be unbearable. Though, Hunter had gotten used to things like this, especially for sights like this. His beloved partner was cutely sleeping on his shoulder, clearly tired of the toll that the festival had brought about on the two. Noticing the signal to start the next match, the speakers blare to life from Hunter’s voice, albeit softer in consideration of his sleeping wife next to him. ”Welcome back everyone to the Vytal Festival tournament, I’m going to keep it short, sweet, and simple so we can get to the fights, especially since it's the semifinals.” Hunter quickly takes a look at the two combatants coming up and sigh in relief as they’re rather simple to introduce once again. ”We have gravity girl Camelia Sol, who’ll bring down the competition, against Juno Vert. He had a rather impressive showing in the first two fights, but I still think that there’s a lot of compensation. What for? Who knows." Shifting himself into a more comfortable position, Prim would rest well and Hunter would not feel shoulder pain for the rest of the fight. "Anyways, I hope our semifinalists give us a good showing!" While louder than he wanted, it seems Prim was still asleep, which is good.

Starting the spinner from his end, the now familiar holographic image of a lottery machine appears on all sides of the arena. The spinners spun so quickly, making it nearly impossible to make out the passing words. It ticked through the options slower and slower until it finally stopped on Forest and Swamp.

From the arena arose two separate sides that thematically line up with the arena’s choice of environment. On Camelia’s side, large trees cover the entire area. Noticeably, the trees are numerous and encourages movement up and between the trees with lots of trunks that can serve as platforms to fight on, with a singular large tree branching into the middle of the arena. Although abundant, the trees do not provide decent enough cover due to how thin the trunk is, lest you move deeper into the forest. As for Juno, a few trees arose as well, albeit slightly smaller and much more thick with vines. In terms of inconveniences, it mostly obscures vision instead of preventing movement. However, the floor is significantly more wet and murkey. Definitely muddy too, hiding broken weapons that can be used for improvisation, with some swamp houses that can be used as cover and vantage points.

(A coin flip has decided that Camelia will get the first post. The arena size is identical to that of the 1v1 arena in the show, however, it features scaled down biomes to fit the size. Good luck, and may the best combatant win.)

The Vale Region / A Difference In Social Skills [CLOSED]

Iron is not having a good time. The very opposite in fact. Then again, when is he ever having a good time? However, unlike every other time, he had never felt this aggravated with his team. After all, his excellent leader had deemed that the relations within the team are not as strong as they should be, therefore they should spend some more time outside together in order to reinforce these bonds. Iron, being how he usually is, deemed the expedition a waste of time until Isabelle decided to make it mandatory for him. He tried his best to break free of the event, but his leader insured that he had no choice but to attend.

With that, Iron finds himself in the City of Vale after taking a bullhead out, waiting for his fellow teammates to show up. If he remembered correctly, Ayaka wasn’t planned to show up since she has a mostly cordial relationship with the team. On the other hand, Iron would admit that he isn’t exactly the greatest with human interaction, but he does feel that Lucina’s mere existence makes the team dynamics rather interesting for the rest of them. As he continues to wait, Iron would think about what he and his team should do for the day so that he can just get back home.

Everywhere Else / Being a Responsible Adult [CLOSED]

As the tournament for the Vytal Festival was closing out with the last few matches left in round two, Hunter had left to go on his “well-deserved” break from announcing. “Well-deserved” meaning he actually just left Prim in the announcer booth for her to do a good bit of the work until he has to come back to escort her home. It was a win-win situation if you asked him, since he gets to not work for the rest of the day AND he gets to treat Prim to something nice! Whistling a little tune as his ride down from Amity Colosseum finally landed, Hunter quickly exited the bullhead and got into a cab on his way to the city center.

Upon arrival, it was rather easy for Hunter to find his way to the market. With a friendly nod to the staff that he recognized, Hunter quickly made his way to the meats section and picked up enough steak for four. After that, Hunter went mostly on autopilot as he picked up other items that they needed to stock up on. With a halfway full shopping cart, Hunter eyed the instant noodles in the peripheral of his vision. Figuring that it doesn’t hurt to stock up on those either, Hunter quickly grabbed what he could regardless of flavor.

With a relatively full shopping cart, Hunter went to the most important part of the trip: flower shopping. From the primrose that his lovely Prim is named after to the generic and cliche rose, it was always difficult for Hunter to choose a rather unique and pretty flower. It also didn’t help when Hunter doesn’t really know much about flowers, so it usually ends up with him just staring at flowers until he just picks something. Clearly needing the assistance of someone, Hunter would continue to stand and gawk at the flowers.

Approved Characters / Hunter d’Azur
« on: August 23, 2018, 09:32:25 PM »
CHARACTER

Name: Hunter d’Azur

Age: 35; born Machlud 4, 45 AC

Species and Gender: Panda Faunus, Male

Symbol: N / A

Occupation: Professor of Combat Strategy & Survival Training + Miscellaneous Studies at Atlas Academy, Licensed Huntsman, and Ex-White Fang associate

Appearance:

Hunter doesn’t really put too much care into his appearance. His mid-length hair is often slicked back into a rather spiky hairstyle or styled downwards in a rather messy fashion, mostly depends on how much effort he has for the day. As for hair color, it’s a mixture of white and black, with the hairs on the top of his head being white while the sides & back are black. If you investigate his hair further, you can see stubs of what used to be his panda ears. In terms of facial appearance, Hunter’s usually clean shaven and has makeup around the eyes to hide the black ring around his eyes. More often than not, Hunter could choose to not put makeup on because the black rings look close enough to baggy eyes. As for physique, Hunter is 5’11’ and weighs in at around 180 lbs, he boasts an almost lanky body that is somewhat fit. A near constant accessory regardless of what he’s wearing is an engagement ring.

In terms of everyday appearance, Hunter wears a variety of things. Normally, if you see him out and about for groceries, Hunter would be wearing some kind of hoodie, jeans, and baseball cap. Generally, this is an effective way of diverting attention away from himself. In terms of being a professor and formal events, Hunter would usually just wear a dress shirt with pants and jackets that would complement the outfit. However, that is as far as Hunter would go in terms of formal dress as he feels that ties are extremely restricting and uncomfortable.

As a hunter, Hunter would obviously have a combat outfit. Usually, he can fight in any type of clothing, but he does try to get into his own personalized set of armor just in case. Under the armor, Hunter wears a normal black, almost skintight tracksuit. Overlaying this is on his torso is a smooth, flat light gray steel chestplate reminiscent of the ones Atlesian soldiers wear. This chestplate features steel tassets with light plating that shield his mostly shielded the upper part of his lower body. Hunter's set also features light gray steel shoulder plates that are slightly offset when stacked on top of each other, to create a triple-layered aesthetic. Besides that, he has a pair of simple and thin gauntlets to shield the arms, also made from steel. As an accessory to shield from the cold climate of Atlas, Hunter also has a special blue scarf that he'll wrap around himself. More often than not, he'll keep it wrapped around his neck, but he may also choose to wrap it around his torso depending on what parts of his body are in need of warmth.

History: In Atlas, being a part of a poor faunus family of three would be a death sentence. Yet, the family made it through by hiding in the shadows as best they could. Thick overcoats, large hats, anything that wouldn’t make anyone think for a second that they are faunus. As a result, this style of living became normal for them. His father would always meet through a series of contacts that provided some amount of income to avoid as much of the daily racism he could, while his mother kept leisure time inside their worn down home. As a result, education did not come easily to Hunter. His parents were trying to teach from what little they knew, and broken down textbooks found in the snow were beyond his capabilities. For such a young boy, knowing nothing beyond the safety of his home was heartbreaking.

As Hunter grew, so did his desire to leave the safety of his home and explore the world beyond it. It was only inevitable that this desire would take over his life as he would start to sneak out more and more regardless of the risks it could’ve posed. It was interesting for him to play with the snow and interact with all the objects outside. In fact, he didn’t get any dirty looks because he remembered to be a good child and hide his panda ears like his mom always said! This trend would continue for most of his childhood, unnecessarily risking his life for such a short thrill. For a child, such a short thrill would be enough.

Normally this trend would be unhealthy for surviving in Atlas, but it proved to be beneficial to Hunter in this circumstance. A group of racists had found out about his parents and had outed them as faunus. For a low-income family, that would be a near death sentence for all of them. However, due to Hunter constantly sneaking out, he was never outed as a faunus since they never saw the family as a whole. In a decision to save their child’s life and the life of their friends, his father and mother would leave behind Hunter in their worn down home to draw away attention for both him and their friends. However, Hunter was not left behind with nothing. His parents consolidated as much as they could: food, funds, educational materials, anything that would boost his chances of survival. From then on, Hunter was left to be alone for the rest of his childhood.

It was extremely difficult at first. Hunter couldn’t cope with the overwhelming loneliness that came with missing parents. Desperate for any form of attention, he’d latched onto things and wouldn’t let go when it became too dangerous. In fact, Hunter was so desperate that it got him into a bad situation where he lost his panda ears in an accident when he was trying to escape. This cycle would continue until Hunter finally began to recover from both physical and mental wounds as he started focusing more on just living for a brighter tomorrow. In an effort to be not outed like his parents, Hunter would actually be more aggressive about coming outside after putting effort into hiding his faunus features as casually as he could. In fact, it worked and Hunter began to venture outside more and more. Of course, it’s still alarming to see a kid walk around by themselves, but it would’ve been worse if it was a faunus kid.

Being a young child, his efforts to secure a steady income would often be held back due to his age. As a result, Hunter had often jumped between legal and illegal activities in order to keep his income up. Stealing, mugging, even fighting became commonplace on both sides of the law. Even then, it was not a safe and steady income for him, so he went for a more desperate measure: actively seeking out the White Fang. In return for income, Hunter would become an associate, offering information and services similar to that. With their newfound deal, Hunter now had a fallback and the White Fang had someone that ensured their new operations would be safer.

With a now steady income, Hunter stopped having to worry about doing odd jobs or committing crimes. Instead, he settled down as a cashier at a market while doing jobs for the White Fang on his off time. Of course, Hunter made sure that he never joined the White Fang any farther than an associate. It was far too risky to join the White Fang in Atlas. After all, there’s a reason why their presence in the kingdom was so weak. Otherwise, Hunter had kept himself in a rather normal and surprisingly mundane life for a faunus.

One day, Hunter came across a rather interesting situation on his way back home. A rather pretty girl near his age was currently training herself in what seems to be sword techniques. Being the curious guy he was, Hunter watched her train for a bit before deciding to walk up to her. Making sure he basically looked human, Hunter introduced himself and found out that the girl’s name was Prim. After some small talk, their discussions became much more lively real fast, though it also got pretty heated. They clicked so well together that they found themselves sparring together. Of course, he always got his ass kicked because he never got any formal training, but he quickly learned and actually came close to picking up a few wins. After promising that they’ll meet up again for sparring, Hunter was prepared to leave Prim until she asked him a simple question.

”Are you going to join the Academy?”

After a few seconds of thinking, Hunter could only reply with a yes. To this day, Hunter’s not sure why he lied through his teeth. He never planned on being a specialist, or even a huntsman. That’s why he never applied to the academy two years ago. Yet, Hunter couldn’t help but lie to her face. Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on who you ask, Prim seems to take that lie and secure Hunter as her partner for Atlas. As a result, Hunter basically ended up being her punching bag so that they could get to Atlas together.

As time passed, his thoughts about the lie he told would only worry him more and more. If Hunter follows through with his lie, he can end up outing himself as a faunus and basically make his life a living hell in Atlas. In fact, there could even be the chance where his association with the White Fang would be brought into the daylight. However, if he didn’t follow through, Prim would probably be devastatingly angry and that would probably invoke some vengeance which would reveal much more than he would like. In fact, Hunter’s pretty sure he can’t hide from her when she knows where he’s usually at.  When the due date for the applications came, Hunter finally accepted his fate and just sent in an application. When the time for the exams came, he passed the physical portion with flying colors while the knowledge portion fell rather short. Regardless, Hunter was now an official student of Atlas Academy. In consideration of that, Hunter still kept his contact with the White Fang despite being a lot more restricted in what he can do for them.

The first year of Atlas Academy was rather interesting. The first day started off with their initiation, which involved individuals working as a retrieval squad trying to recover supplies and survivors from downed bullheads. Individuals that are a part of the downed bullheads would have to find another “survivor” so that they can send up a flare. Another group would be a scattered rescued team that would have to meet up and quickly close in on any flare. Hunter got lucky and managed to meet up with Prim as a part of the rescue squad, forming one half of their team. Fighting against the onslaught of Grimm, a flare finally arose as the two found themselves at a downed bullhead where they would meet the other half of their team: Leonora Lovett and Magnus Thorn. The newly formed team PLAT would find themselves evac’d and sent to their new dorm to rest, with Prim as their new team leader.

As the team was initially awkward, they would go through most of their classes in a rather quiet and reserved manner. It would only break when Hunter kind of flipped his desk in frustration from their classes. At that point, the atmosphere was rather calm and orderly as his team tried to comprehend what he just did. As they did, chaos inevitably came about as the other pair laughed their asses off when Prim basically gave Hunter the worst lecture he ever had in his life (which is not much actually). From then on, Hunter & Prim’s relationship basically soured a bit as they found parts of their personalities that didn’t click, but the other half of team PLAT got a lot more comfortable with them.

As their first year began to close, Hunter and Prim began to butt heads more and more due to their conflicting personalities. Hunter’s lazy personality and Prim’s strict attitude (and poor anger management) began to create more and more conflicts within the team’s dorm. While the other pair tried to lessen the extent of their conflicts, it’s quite clear that a fight would break out if they continued. When it seemed that their fight would finally break out after Hunter skipped out on his project with Prim, it was quickly defused as he returned with flowers for Prim. With such an embarrassing action, their relationship quickly returned to normal. While still being a bit awkward, it was beginning to blossom into something much more.

The second-year became much more normal and routine, is what you’d expect from a normal second-year team. Taking missions became the norm, and team PLAT became even closer as they learned and sparred together. As for Hunter, he began recovering from his knowledge deficit and actually started to do well in terms of his studies. However, his bad work ethic still stayed the same much to the annoyance of Prim. In fact, there was nothing too notable about Hunter’s second year except for his relationship with Prim.

Interactions between the two were a lot more awkward yet friendly than what they were used to. With the two having romantic feelings for the other, partner work was difficult. In fact, sparring and studying also started suffering as rumors began to circulate. The other half of team PLAT might have been to blame for that, especially since they started pushing the two together in hopes that they can get over their awkwardness and actually act on their feelings. Mostly because Hunter is the one making it awkward and Prim trying to deal with it.

By early third year, Hunter and Prim were finally dating, and it’s actually official instead of the tip-toe shenanigans they’ve been having for the past year. The other half of team PLAT was very happy about that because that means the dorm wouldn’t be so awkward, and it wasn’t even fun to tease them about their feelings anymore. Other than their relationship, nothing else really happened. It was like any other team that was trying to improve their skills and capabilities as they try to pass the school year.

As the third year closed and the fourth year began, Hunter and Prim ran into quite a bit of a conflict for their relationship. The issue was quite clear: Prim was going to be a specialist, but Hunter was going to be a huntsman. The conflict, while there and existing, wasn’t too bad to deal with. It wouldn’t really break their relationship and that even if they went their separate ways, they’d promise to see each other again. Then, the biggest conflict for their relationship came about when they were about to graduate. Choosing to reveal the fact he was a faunus was a hard decision to make. He wished he would have revealed it sooner, but he was far too scared to do so. On that day Hunter explained the truth to Prim, he was effectively cut from her life. It brought him a lot of pain that could’ve been avoided. It didn’t even matter that she didn’t out him as a faunus because Prim was pretty much his everything at that point.

As they graduated and went to their respective careers, Hunter was pretty much conflicted at that point. He didn’t really have anyone else that would want to keep prolonged contact with him, and leaving Atlas would’ve been too much for him. As a result, Hunter just bought a dingy apartment to hide out in and the lack of care he put into his disguise initially had him outed as a faunus. When Hunter started needing funds and needed to start caring, he went back to disguising himself and doing jobs for those that would pay. With a rather steady income, he managed to stay alive in his poor little home.

One day Hunter was approached by the White Fang, in hopes of successfully recruiting an associate. This time, however, they were much more aggressive about recruiting him into their cause. It was funny really. Hunter had found himself in the same situation so long ago, with the exact same circumstances. He used to consider the offer back then, especially since he was stuck in such a poor situation. But that was before Atlas, and before Prim. Before learning and growing much like anyone else. Politely declining their offer, Hunter waited for them to leave before getting on a bullhead to Atlas Academy.

Hunter’s reveal to Amarant about being a White Fang informant was a rather interesting decision. While he was not all too familiar with Amarant, Hunter did hear things about the new headmaster that solidified his decision to appeal to the headmaster. However, the resulting confrontation immediately became tense; the information Hunter had about the White Fang presence on Atlas was valuable, but Amarant was still not sure about whether or not he is trustworthy. In an effort to prove his allegiance, Hunter offered up the idea that he can be under constant surveillance. The idea was something they both agreed on, and Amarant took the measures to make it easier on himself by making Hunter a professor.

Obtaining his new role of being a professor, Hunter wasn’t really in the limelight as he first had to earn his credentials. It wasn’t too hard for him to do so either, as survival came naturally to him and battle strategy was something he excelled at. Upon earning his credentials, Hunter then had to integrate with the staff that was once his teachers. Being initially weird, it would eventually be easy for Hunter to interact with his newfound peers in the academy.

After a while, Hunter would finally be ready to teach for his first year. At the same time, word came around about a new professor. Initially, it didn’t really matter all too much to Hunter until they met in the staffroom. It was a big surprise for the two, considering that was the first time Hunter saw Prim after their breakup. Due to how awkward it was, it quickly became “they can’t see me if I don’t see them” until they went their separate ways. Hunter’s heart ached, but it was probably for the best that they should avoid each other for the rest of their life.

Their first week was awkward as they went out of their way to avoid each other. In fact, some of the older staff remembers would say that Hunter and Prim’s first week together as teachers reminded them of when the two were in their second year. While the staff found it funny at first, they eventually got tired of them tiptoeing around each other again. In an attempt to fix this, the staff kept on insisting the two talk to each other whenever they’re out for the day. Finally budging, Hunter went to talk with Prim so they could finally get closure on the main issue that plagued their relationship.

Once they got together to talk, it was rather awkward for the two. For Hunter, it was rather difficult for him to talk about what happened on that day so long ago, so they just sat in silence together. Soon, they started to talk again and catch up on what happened while the other was gone. Hunter didn’t talk a lot about his situation or talked much about their break up, but Hunter kind of liked their small talk. At the end of it, they plan to meet up again for dinner maybe, and that’s when their relationship repaired itself.

Of course, they didn’t really get much closure, but they still had a good time regardless whenever they met up. Finally, then came the day where Hunter would apologize for lying for so long as Prim said her apologies in return. They didn’t rush their relationship, but physical affection slowly became commonplace between the two. Dates became more frequent as the two finally rekindled their relationship.

Nowadays, it was rather cute to see Hunter acting like a lovesick puppy whenever Prim is around especially since they're finally engaged. In fact, it got rather sickening for some students, but Hunter never really cared.

Personality:

As for his general personality, Hunter is rather normal. Unlike his significant other, Hunter is undisciplined and more down to earth. Even as a teacher, he may display a strict attitude at times, but Hunter’s relaxed approach to life usually takes over. Things that don’t really matter to him are done at a more leisurely pace, or can even be neglected to the point where Hunter improvises based on the situation. In everything else, Hunter can be very energetic. However, if things need to get done, he’ll put in his best effort to do so. Other than that, Hunter does display some level of intelligence that would be hidden behind the fact that he likes to be childish if you draw his ire.

In terms of faunus, Hunter would often act like he dislikes faunus in Atlas. While these feelings are true, they are for a completely different reason. Hunter’s not racist since he’s a faunus himself, but he does believe that those open about being a faunus do not belong in Atlas. Having lived in Atlas for all his life, Hunter acknowledges the difficulties of being a faunus. However, Hunter does believe that Atlas is too set in their ways on faunus views that it would be better off to go elsewhere.

Now, when Hunter is with Prim, his level of discipline and elegance become nonexistent. Hunter becomes a lot more of a jokester, and he definitely likes to tease Prim whenever he can. However, Hunter is kind of dependent on Prim, especially when it comes to her presence. Having been touch-starved and alone for most of his life, it was rather easy for him to rely on one sole person. As for friends and acquaintances, Hunter is much like his normal personality but a little more physically affectionate. Hunter isn’t so strict on the whole professor and student thing, usually treating students as good acquaintances or even friends.

Aura and Semblance:

Aura color is a light blue (#38DDF9).

With a sizable aura pool, Hunter isn’t too trained with the finer details of aura. However, it does extremely well with his semblance especially when you consider physical enhancement.

Unbreakable Attachments - ”People can run, but consequences will always follow.”

Hunter’s semblance lets him lock onto any object of his choosing with a range of 30 feet (9m). From then on, there will be a visible link with a max range of 15 feet (4.5m). Whenever an object tries to leave the max range, Hunter will be pulled along at the exact same speed in perfect orientation. At slower speeds, Hunter can simply glide along while fast speeds will involve running so that Hunter can move faster. However, that means that there is no minimum range which means Hunter can choose to outspeed the object. For example, if Hunter threw a spear with all his might, Hunter can choose to follow along OR he can outrun it via semblance assistance. There are two methods of breaking this link: being extremely fast that it’s impossible to keep up or Hunter breaking it of his own choosing by cutting the link for 3% aura or some form of stamina cost.

Combat Behavior:

Hunter, in overall terms, is what you’d call a disruptor assassin. He’s very good at forcing someone into a fight on his terms, and he can sure as hell do enough damage to take someone out when it’s just a 1v1. Due to the nature of his semblance and weapon, it’s very easy for him to always have a follow up from one strike to another. It is also near impossible to run from as well due to Hunter’s semblance.

On the other hand, there isn’t much Hunter can use to defend himself with, mostly using Thorn to deflect and parry attacks instead of full on blocking them. It’s also important to realize that unless Hunter forcefully breaks the link, he can’t really get knocked back by anything.

+Tons of Damage
+Attack Versatility / Setup
+Excellent Gapcloser

-No safety net if caught within semblance
-No good methods of blocking attacks
-Weapon takes time to charge up (especially range attacks)
-No reliable AOE attacks

WEAPON

Name: Thorn

Primary Form: Thorn is a xiphos, with the blade itself being double-edged and two feet long, with the hilt itself being a foot long. The entire sword itself is purely blue, with white accenting the edge of the blade. Alongside the design of the weapon, the hilt itself is not separated by a hilt guard. It also seems to have a leather grip around it but it's cut in half, making an upper grip and a lower grip for the hilt. The blade is also designed with lines running from tip to hilt that will glow via dust. Also running alongside the blade would be vents that open and close at will to dictate the discharge of energy.

Secondary Form: With enough strength, Hunter can increase the length of the hilt by pulling it apart, turning the sword into a spear that is ten feet in length (not including the spearhead). With just as much strength, the shaft can condense back into a hilt for the sword. When in a situation where it takes too much time to pull Thorn apart, there is a button on the lower end of the weapon that expands and contracts Thorn by itself. This allows Hunter to change the length of his weapon at almost any point in time during combat. A notable concern about the weapon is that the shaft of the spear is noticeably smaller than the hilt, but the material is durable enough to take any hit and not break upon impact. The butt end of the spear is also connected to the dust core for a boost in stabs or throwing.

Dust Functions:
A dust core inside Thorn holds up enough wind and kinetic dust where Hunter can do 10 charged attacks until the dust within the core has to be replaced. Since the nature of the weapon is releasing condensed blasts of wind, it can often manifest as a ranged beam or an extremely strong piercing attack. However, the charged attacks can be released at certain points based on when Hunter would pull the trigger. As for the released energy at the butt of the spear, it uses up negligible amount of dust that it doesn't dent the dust core's charge.

History: Initially, Thorn had first come into conceptualization when he first initially sparred with Prim. The xiphos had suited Thorn very well, thus leading to the very first iteration of the weapon. Later on with Prim’s assistance, Hunter would successfully implement the spear form of the weapon as an upgrade. From then on, Thorn would receive no further upgrades as it was already a very reliable weapon in the first place. Nearing the mastery of his weapon, Hunter (again with Prim’s assistance) realized that he can make his attacks even stronger. His first attempt to do so involved the complete and utter destruction of the original, as well as injuries from the resulting explosion. However, the very next try became a success, albeit not being an exact replica of the initial weapon due to the new addition of the dust core.

The Vale Region / Coffee Away From Home [Limited 1/3]
« on: November 28, 2017, 04:03:13 PM »
Arian found himself in Vale. Again. This time, it's for a team related mission instead of the Vytal Festival, but still, he prefered not being in Vale any longer and returning home. With a sigh, he brings the mug to his lips, sipping away as he watches live move on outside the window. Arian looks back to the menu, remembering the cafe's name for future reference as he does enjoy their services.

Placing the mug back down onto the table, Arian went back to looking out the window, particularly the establishment that currently catches his eye: Duels 'N Stuff. It does look particularly strange, given the Atlesian-style architecture, but from what Arian heard, it's a great place for hunters-in-training to spar when they're away from home.

Sighing once more - he's been doing that a lot lately, he should look into it - Arian went back to drinking his coffee, and thinking about whether or not he should get a refill.

The Vale Region / Tea Time Shenanigans [Limit 2/4]
« on: January 06, 2017, 12:40:34 AM »
Arian, for some unknown reason, was still in Vale. His team had already returned to Mistral, and he should've as well. Taking a sip of tea, he realized that Valian tea was what Arian stayed in Vale for. He'd probably return to Mistral the next day, but in the mean time, Arian is going to abuse the time he has to enjoy Vale's oddities.

The shop (he had forgotten it's name) he was in wasn't busy to be exact, but it wasn't empty either. His table was a four seater, and Arian took up one of the seats. It wasn't too reputable as far as he remembered, but Arian thinks the tea is interesting. He should get coffee next time. Musing in his thoughts, Arian took another sip of tea as he waits the day to pass and return home...

The Vale Region / Under the Table Internships [CLOSED/INVITE]

Continued from: http://rwbyfanon.com/smf/Archive2/index.php/topic,3293.0.html

Whistling a little tune as made his way to his desk, Eklipsei reminisced about the good old days. In fact, he was pretty sure this was one of those old White Fang bases he had liberated. It was tedious, but Eklipsei remembered the experiences of his journey. Thrown through windows, shot multiple times, even took a grenade to the face at one point. This allowed to ignore their thoughts with an excuse.

Swiping everything off the desk, it was nice and pristine until Eklipsei dropped the boxes onto it. Quickly organizing it so that he can quickly brief the three, Eklipsei makes hand motions to have the three come closer and listen to what he is to say. Digging deep into the box, he began his explanation.

"What you interns are going to do is catch a criminal!" With a frown, he digs deeper into the box, "You'll be provided information to begin your own investigation on the criminal, while I will gather more information for your usage."

Eklipsei found what he was looking for, and pulled it out of the box. It was a folder, and drops it onto the desk in view of the three interns. Opened up reveals an image of Beacon Student Fenix Cerulean! Elaborating as to why he has said image, "Fenix is one of my contacts persay, and you can gather more information from him." With a shrug, "I currently have no idea where he might be right now, but I'm definitely sure he's at a bar of some sort to gather more information. He'd probably be at The Clam."

Dropping into a chair behind the desk then leaning back in a relaxed stance, Eklipsei hopefully asks what would be his last line, "Any questions?"

Approved Characters / Fenix Cerulean
« on: October 18, 2016, 07:50:50 PM »
CHARACTER

Name: Fenix Cerulean, also once known as Fabius Felicis Cilo of the Plebeian House of Felix.

Age: 17. Born Frost 18, 63 AC.

Species and Gender: Human Male

Symbol: N/A

Occupation: First year Beacon student and Part-Time Blacksmith

Appearance: Fenix has an average sized body, not too thin but not too fat, and he essentially has the standard body composition a seasoned hunter would have. In fact, it gives him a rather fit look a seasoned fighter would have, being an average body size to go with his well toned and well developed muscles, not too showy though. He happens to be rather tall, inheriting some of those tall genetics his family had, being at the height of 5’9”. Fenix also weighs about a good 250 lbs, with a good chunk of that being muscle instead of normal fat. Alongside all of that, Fenix has a rather pale skin from all that time in Vale ever since his birth, as well as inheritance from family. Much like other Pilorum, he has black scleras, but Fenix has blue irises to contrast with that. Other than that, his body is essentially flawless in the sense of features and scars.

Fenix often wears a black suit and tie that is loose enough to hide his muscles, but tight enough to have a hold on his body. It’s very clean and pristine, but there are some features of the suit that have ‘tells’ of how worn it is. Stains of food and dirt suggest that Fenix have, and can fight in these clothes, but he doesn’t really recommend it. It’s very formal, so it’s lucky that Fenix can simply wear this around all the time without having to replace it. Alongside the suit and tie is glasses (not prescription, only accessory) with darkened lenses to hide the black sclera Fenix had inherited from his Pilorum side of the family. Fenix also happens to have a little holster on the side that holds some neat gadgets he carries out as a “just incase” (hint hint, it’s a normal brass knuckle, as if he needed it.).

If forced to go purely casual, which is unlikely considering Fenix likes to deny his pilorum heritage by ignoring it, he’d wear a plain white short sleeved shirt, and over it is a white sweater that covers his muscles and it would be very hard to tell his muscular composition just from a glance. To go with that, Fenix wears some jeans that is, once again, loose enough to cover his muscles but tight enough to have a hold on his body. Fenix also happens to wear plain black, fingerless gloves to cover his hands as to not get them so bloodied in combat, which looks quite nice when he shoves your face into the dirt.

Fenix’s actual combat outfit is gray steel plate armor, covering his entire body and providing full flexibility for his usage. It’s very detailed, as the metal plates are pointed downwards when attached together. On his left shoulder is a shoulder plate with the design of a wolf on it, and his right shoulder is covered by a ragged, ripped blue cloak that goes all the way down to his feet. The cloak isn’t long enough to hinder his movement, but it’s pretty long. The cloak’s hood is put up as to hide his face in combat, and over it is a steel helmet that resembles a bird. Out of the helmet is a rather long plume that goes down to his torso at the back of his head. Under all the armor is chainmail for extra defense.

History: Born of the Plebeian House of Felix, Fenix never knew his father, but he has a retired huntress for a mother that originated from Vale. All he knew of his father was what little his mother told him, and even then, with his mother’s hero worship of what he now considered demons, he wasn’t sure at all onto what was true about his father’s history. True facts that Fenix was able to discern from his mother’s story, was that his father was definitely a pilorum, and was part of Pilum’s Military. His father had been drafted, but she it wouldn’t have mattered anyways, as his father would’ve volunteered for the glory of Pilum. After some undisclosed time, his father found himself in the 7th(?) Legion as a Squad-Commander, proudly bearing his rank to the public.

Fenix had no idea what unspeakable horrors his father had done, but what he did know that his mother apparently met his father one day during a mission out in the wilderness… Fenix’s mother told him that his father “saved” her life, and that he was a hero for saving the people that were there. Unfortunately, his younger self bought into what his mother said in a fit of childish naivety. For the longest time, Fenix believed that his father, and Pilorums, were kind and that the rumors were simply the bad guys slandering their good name. It took so long for Fenix to utterly realize how wrong that way of thinking was, and that will be discussed later on. All in all, at this point in his life, Fenix was proud of his Pilorum heritage.

In pursuit of the glory his father attained in his life, Fenix trained during all those years before Signal, with his mother cheering and encouraging him onwards to Signal Academy. Fenix even created some weapons as a part-time job with the assistance of a neighbouring blacksmith, seeing it as an opportunity to further his heroic opportunities. In fact, all that blacksmithing he had done only served to further define his body. All that that strength working only served to prepare Fenix for his time in Signal Academy, especially to start swinging the giant greatsword, which is basically his size, he created later on.

Upon finally applying to Signal Academy and being accepted, to the joy of his mother, Fenix was finally ready to show the world his strength. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on how you see it), Fenix underwent a bunch of changes during Signal Academy. Weapon, semblance, and studies were a few of them, but a major change was his worldview. Fenix had been proudly baring his Pilorum heritage, but day after day, his world is bombarded by facts and truth about Pilorums. He fought back, and verbally abused people in anger, but one day, he just snapped. Fenix just stopped, and started to deny his Pilorum heritage. It’s unknown what caused or what happened, but Fenix was a better person for the last three years.

When Fenix went back to his mother, he just stopped listening to her. Day by day, he started to notice little tells: glazed eyes, nervous twitches, smiles, and her times of reminiscing. Slowly, Fenix grew more and more afraid of what happened to his mother, but he knew he could do nothing to help. Instead, he just continued loving his mother, but not heeding her words as a way of compromise between two lifestyles. After some time, Fenix graduated, and when he was just about to leave, his mother, distractedly staring into space told Fenix his true name:

Fabius Felicis Cilo of the Plebeian House of Felix.

Without a pause, Fenix went to Beacon without looking back, as a way to accommodate his new and informed self. Upon arriving at Beacon, everything was unclear and hazy, but to Fenix, there was only one true fact. The Denial of his Pilorum Heritage.

Personality: Fenix is what’s essentially a kind and gentle giant. That was his way of atoning for his mistakes in the previous years. That, and to invalidate most people's’ thoughts about Pilorum in general. He is calm and patient, willing to bear pain just so he does not inflict it (yet). Fenix also has an above average intelligence, as once again, to atone for his previous way of thinking. He also happens to hide and deny his Pilorum bloodline as if he was ashamed of it. Push too far with the previous fact or anything else in general, Fenix would not hesitate to break you in anger. Otherwise, Fenix is pretty cool.

However, Fenix subconsciously still believes in Pilorum are the ones that are right, that morals and ethics would not matter because they are . Fenix would never admit it, or even know about it, but it’s there. It’ll take a lot to bring it out, but with enough severity and determination, it’ll come out. That’s what happens when you are living your entire life believing in something only to find out it’s wrong, but never fully accept it.

Aura and Semblance: Fenix has a decent aura pool, nothing much to say about it. It grows a bright red. He’s not like other people that knew quite a bit out of aura, so he doesn’t have all the nifty extra functions that aura can provide.

A Calm Storm - ”I WILL BREAK YOUR FUCKING BONES”

Upon activation, or some gentle prodding, Fenix will go into a berserker state, almost to the point of insanity. He forgoes thought, and can barely form coherent sentences. Fenix gains a good amount of strength, speed and endurance, greatly influencing his berserker-like qualities. At the end of it, he’d be pretty fatigued, even during the berserker state itself, but in the end it’s a great power boost as a last resort. Lightning-esque aura swirls around Fenix, giving a BIG hint to whether or not Fenix is in a berserker-like state. He basically becomes a tank, but run out of fuel, he’s basically a goner.

Combat Behavior: Fenix is basically a tank that can dish out tons of damage, but he’s rather slow doing so, even if he is two-handing his greatsword. However, since it’s massive, he can most definitely use it to block without moving much, but it does take a lot to actually use it. His sword does much of the attacking for him as all he needs to do is swing in a direction, but it’s REALLY HARD to change mid direction of the swing. Fenix doesn’t flinch easy, so it’s really hard to make him hesitate for even a second, except when a certain Pilorum around. Or Pilorum in general. Fenix can’t one hand the sword very easy, so it’s hard for him to multitask with no free hands.

Now when Fenix is in his berserker state, he’s much more faster and stronger than before, except he can’t exactly thinking clearly. Fenix just goes in and swing his giant sword around in hopes of doing great amount of damage, even not pausing for pain. However, that means it would be rather hard to fall back and that the total pain added up from fighting will lead to what could essentially be hell for Fenix when deactivating his semblance.

WEAPON

Name: The Great Wolf

Primary Form: The Great Wolf is a giant sleek sword at a size of five feet and eight inches long. Its decorated hilt (handguard and handle included) takes up those extra nine inches so that Fenix has an easier time swinging it around almost like it’s nothing. The blade width of the sword itself happens to be a good 7 inches to have that nice even split for Fenix to use. The metal itself is a dark black, and it’s very durable for Fenix to use as what essentially amounts to a shield. A design themed around wolves are present on the blade, with it being colored a nice white to contrast well with the metal. Although the blade seems to be irregularly shaped, it’s still sharp enough to cut things, and with enough strength, Fenix can cut through a lot.

Image currently busted, fix later: ShowHide

History: His first weapon he created for Signal Academy and never changed since then, since he basically considered The Great Wolf as a memory of how Fenix used to be and how he changed since then, and for the better too.

GADGET

It’s literally a brass knuckle. Nothing special about it. Just put this here as a disclaimer as to show that Fenix does indeed wield a brass knuckle if need be.

Frost 4th, 80 AC

On a rather cold and drifty day in Vale, like the weather usually is, the docks at Beacon Academy were bustling with people as they wait for their next ride out of Beacon. Multiple people of different kingdoms would wait as the Bullheads shuffle in and out as expected of the Vytal Festival. It was normal for Bullheads to come and go at certain times since people were always traveling around Vale in a sense of tourism. However, when a Bullhead pulls in at an unexpected time, it would surely draw curious glances towards it considering the brief pause of nothing happening. It would invite even more gazes to it as a recognizable figure comes out of the docked Bullhead and waits in front of it:

Eklipsei Gray, a Head of the White Fang Investigation Team.

What reason would such an authoritative figure to be at Beacon Academy? Well, four very lucky individuals of different years and kingdoms are going to be taken under his wing as a team for the day, and they’ll take a nice simple mission as a way to pass on Eklipsei's simple lessons to be taught to the future protectors of humanity.

Flicking his fingers left and right, Eklipsei held his scroll in his fidgeting hands. He had checked his scroll to pass the time as he waits in front of his designated bullhead for the mission, but now that Eklipsri was awaiting for the individuals he had chosen for his request, he might as well also shoot off a few messages to his peers and superiors. Especially to a certain retired huntress that is sneaking around Beacon Academy when she shouldn't be...

Warning: Your characters CAN possibly die, but that is only if you fuck up badly. The GM DOES not intend to screw you over, but if you fuck up multiple times, you can only blame yourself.

On one of the many busy days that came from the Vytal Festival being in Vale, an inconspicuous mission was floating around the board, eagerly awaiting for someone to take up on this proposition...

Greetings Hunters-in-Training,

In light of recent news, it has come to my attention that “Lord of Nevermore” must be taken in. Fortunately, there was a tip from a protected witness that the criminal would be showing up at a location in a certain timeframe. Considering it is good to be prepared and that you students are still learning, it had been decided that I will be taking a team of 4 students and I will “show the ropes” essentially. It would be a fun teaching experience, and we’ll get things done.

Good luck, Eklipsei Gray.

P.S. You’ll get paid.
